Dec 262019

It’s a queasy day here in the CatBox.  WWWendy ran out of time, so instead of pressure cooking ham and beans for me, she brought me some of her Christmas dinner: standing rib roast and roast potatoes.  They were a bit hard on my stomach, but when it came to her Marion berry cheesecake pie…, I was a ba-a-a-a-ad kitty!  I’ve been paying the price since.  Tomorrow I may run a bit late.  Store to Door is closed for the week, so I’m getting my groceries delivered from Safeway.com.  On the plus side, I have no medical appointments for the rest of the year.  May America dump the Republican Reich in 2020!

Today’s took me 4:09 (average 5:53).  To do it, click here. How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Crooks  and Liars: Chuck Todd was very very Chuck Todd this year. And above, Chuck worries that Democrats are investigating too many things, and therefore have a “PR problem.”

Is that media bias or what? If Democrats’ investigate everything Trump* does, except one, that’s one thing too few!  RESIST!!

From VOA News: Her husband’s steady shift to the political right during their 24-year marriage was a source of frustration and embarrassment for liberal Jennifer Merrill, but it wasn’t until the election of Donald Trump — and her husband’s support for the president — that she’d finally had enough.

Merrill moved out and filed for divorce.

“I just couldn’t see sharing a bed with somebody that agreed with what Trump was doing when I was so against everything that Trump represented,” says Merrill, a book editor for a trade association, and the mother of three children. “He had no sensitivity for how I felt, that I felt so strongly about it, especially when I was going out and doing protests … and he would just laugh about it and continue to defend [Trump]. So that just made me very, very angry.”

If ever there were just cause for divorce, marriage to a Republican is it!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): The Who – Won’t Get Fooled Again

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. 4:55 Prickly, yes, but delicious. They don’t mention sorbet, but I know that’s delicious. Sadly, I no longer make wine – if I did, I’d love to try it. My chokecherry wine was much admired.

Marionberry cheesecake pie? I don’t blame you for indulging. (I ended up with guava cheesecake ice cream myself.) I’m sure it was worth it. Once, anyway.

    Cartoon – No.

C & L – Don’t you wish Chuck Todd would just move to Fox and be replaced by someone sane? They ought to have a vacancy due to the departure of Shep Smith (who I would take any day of the week over Chuckles), but he says he’s not ready to go back to work. Damn. BTW, C&L gave out some positive “Crookies” as well. Their “Person of the Year” went to the Democratic House freshmen as a group. And they recg=ognized heroes such as Yovanovich, Vindman, Hill, Taylor, and others who testified boldly.

VOA – Frankly, I don’t know how she stood it that long. Particularly for a woman – being married to a Republican means being married to someone who hates you.

Past – May that be the motto for all voters in 2020 and always. (Unfortunately, some will anyway.)

  2. Cartoon: Only if you see a loving friend who will feed/house you.
C&L: I used to listen to him, but now…he’s annoying to me. Hey, I’d take Shep any day of the week, Joanne. I miss him.
VOA: That’s sad, in a way after all those years together. But! Good for her. I can’t imagine being in the same house if the couple is dem/Repug. I can’t even.
    BFTP: Awesome!!!

Your dinner and dessert sounds delicious, sorry that you’re paying the price though. YAY for no med appointments for the rest of the year…now, you get a chance to set back, relax, rest and most importantly, NAP. The cheesecake sounds delicious! Hope that you have a good day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Did you ever notice that we never had fake news until we got a fake president? Thank about that. Take your time.” ~ Ken V. ~
    2. “If dt is claiming that he wasn’t impeached since the articles haven’t been sent to the Senate, can we claim that since he lost the popular vote he isn’t actually President?” ~ Jeff S. ~
    3. “Nothing ends a witch hunt faster than being crushed by the House.” ~ John A. ~
    4. dt to farmers- “Sorry to hear you had to sell the farm. Here….have a hat.” ~ Kevin M. ~
    5. “Stone faced seven felony charges and was found guilty on all counts. Stone’s sentencing is February 6th. This gives Stone plenty of time to come clean about his involvement w/dt and get a lighter sentence.”~Bill K.~

  3. No question that Barr(f) is an enemy of justice. However, we need a lot more than just a resolution.

Great quotes, P Bowen – especially those from Jeff S and John A.

  4. Cartoon: Sorry to say that I don’t feel it is.
C&L: What an idiot. Have to agree that he’d be better on Faux news, a station I refuse to watch of listen to.
VOA: Really too bad that a couple would divorce after all that time…all because of the creep tRump. How anyone could love or support tRump amazes me.
BFTP: The Who is still a group that was high on my favorite list. They had amazing songs.
I agree with Freya regarding Pat’s “This just in” quotes: the two by Jeff S and John A are spot on.
Glad you had a nice Christmas dinner with Wendy. Hope you get to feeling better, Tom.
It’s time for you to relax and enjoy not having to rush around to any appointments.
    So take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Isn’t that the story for many of us as we get older; when we indulge we have to pay the price. And it must be so much worse for you, dear TomCat. I really feel for you.

3:05 The fruit on the cacti on the plot doesn’t get that red, but the flowers do.

Cartoon: Is that an existential question? Then, no.

MSNBC: Chuck Todd is high on my “Waste Of Time To Watch” list. He’s probably working for MSNBC to guarantee that “balance” the media “feel” they owe people. 😒

VOAN: If more women took a look at their marriages like Jennifer Merrill did, especially those over 40, they’d come to the same conclusion as she did and the divorce rate would soar. If they dare to file for divorce, that is.

BFTP: The trouble with those The Who hits like Won’t Get Fooled Again, Who Are You and Baba O’Reilly is that any memories connected with the original hits have been replaced by operant conditioning to CSI spinoffs (to Miami, CSI original and NY respectively with me. Which I used to watch diligently in their first seasons, of course. Time to have the Won’t Get Fooled Again-CSI link replaced by a link to a Democrat winning the 2020 election.

    • In the American southwest, the fruits do get that red, but the flowers are cream to yellow.  Could be a different strain, or it could be like hydrangeas, where the pH of the soil determines the flower color.

  6. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Tom Cat,and fellow friends😸😺😻🌲
