It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  WWWendy is due in about 90 minutes, and we have lots of chores to do.  Tomorrow I have my GI appointment.  I fear that they will just schedule me for tests at the lab.  I so hope I’m wrong.  I need some relief NOW!  I should be back in the saddle on Christmas Eve.  Go Broncos.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:37 (average 5:25).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: American military and intelligence officials tracking North Korea’s actions by the hour say they are bracing for an imminent test of an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching American shores, but appear resigned to the fact that President Trump has no good options to stop it.

If the North goes ahead with the test in the coming days — Pyongyang promised a “Christmas gift” if no progress had been made on lifting sanctions — it would be a glaring setback for Mr. Trump’s boldest foreign policy initiative, even as he faces an impeachment trial at home.

The score? Fat Korean Maniac 2 – Fat Russian-controlled Maniac 0.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): A REPUBLICAN CHRISTMAS – Parody | The Freedom Toast (Guest Post)

Magnificent! The Republican Reich hope they die soon. JD send me an update on them, please.  RESIST!!

From TPM: According to newly released documents, the White House moved to freeze military aid to Ukraine less than two hours after President Donald Trump’s July 25th call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The documents were obtained with a FOIA request by the Center for Public Integrity and published Friday night.

“Based on guidance I have received and in light of the Administration’s plan to review assistance to Ukraine, including the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, please hold off on any additional DoD obligations of these funds, pending direction from that process,” Mike Duffey, an Office of Management and Budget official, wrote in a July 25 email to OMB and Pentagon officials. “Given the sensitive nature of the request, I appreciate your keeping that information closely held to those who need to know to execute direction.”… [emphasis added]

So what we have here is an order from imFuhrer Trump* to hold up the aid and cover up the act of doing it. That’s a criminal violation of the Impoundment ActRESIST!!

  1. Cartoon: Such tragedies!
NYT:  Now that they have figured out what dt is made of, (hot air & no experience), they can go ahead and work on this. Boy, this sure is scary!
    PPC: Awwww…so very, very sad.
TPM: Imo, he is a walking, talking criminal violation each day he’s in the WH. This is just another one to tack on to his list of ill deeds as the potus. ugh!
    BFTP: Great song!!

Merry Christmas! Wendy. Do hope that you get things taken care of tomorrow, and that you get all your chores done. Take good care, and enjoy your day, thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler know what they are doing. The dedication of these public servants and the witnesses who risked so much to testify will not be lost to history.” ~ anon ~
    2. “Facing death, Mr. Dingell wished for the greatest Nation of mankind the wisdom to understand the responsibility ‘in your hands’. It is a big responsibility – and apparently too much to expect a small man who sits in the Oval Office. ~ Karen Tumulty – WaPo ~

Yes, sometimes it is better to be wrong than right. I hope something can be done fast also.

Cartoon – Nothing to add to this. It says everything.

NYT – That’s the score, all right. Ominous. Could work out in our favor … but not if anyone gets hurt.

PP/TFT – I never noticed till recently how different the TFT ones are from Don’s PP. IMO PP and TFT make a good team, better than PP alone, good as that is. Now please excuse me while I wipe my eyes and blow my nose (after sobbing for a while).

TPM – It would help if anyone in Traitor Tot’s base had any clue what “Impoundment” is – besides locking up stray pooties and woozles, which they are probably in favor of.

Past – Yes, I remember this. It’s actually a pretty good earworm. Would that it could be taken to everyone’s hearts today.

    Day 1:

  3. Cartoon: Sick and so tragic.
NYT: Scary to even think that N. Korea is promising a gift. tRump is so wrapped up on his impeachment and enjoying life in Florida, that he ignores the threats. He probably still thinks they are close friends.
PP: Sad that our government doesn’t give a damn about them. But whats new, they barely care about us. No good rotten bas*ards. Hope they all get lumps of coal in their stockings.
TPM: More evidence keeps coming, the more the merrier we shall be.
BFTP: Nor familiar with this song. I see it was popular when I was 14. Like the tune.
Hope you and Wendy got things done today. Hoping Wendy has a Merry Christmas.
Good luck tomorrow with your GI visit in the morning. Hope they can give you more insight regarding your stomach/heartburn issues.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  4. I hope all aspects of the appointment tomorrow go well, TomCat. I also hope with you that it’ll be more than running tests and tomorrow they’ll also give you something to relieve the symptoms, even if it is only that and not a cure because you’re obviously suffering.

2:59 The attraction of teddybears in any form or size is still poorly understood 😊

Cartoon: That NRA badge is dripping blood too.

NYT: This threat hasn’t advanced to the world headlines yet and is still stuck on page 2, but that won’t last long. It won’t be much of a surprise to the rest of the world as the status quo has never actually changed, and American military and intelligence officials seemed almost resigned to it, but for some of #IMPOTUS’ followers, a ‘surprise’ test may just be the wake-up call they need…🤔😊😆😂😒 Naaahhhh.

PP: No comment necessary, it says it all.

TPM: Another reason not to bring the impeachment to the Senate. More evidence keeps popping up over time.

BFTP: I remember this one well, age-old truth in happy bubble-gum wrapping.

    • I friend who was the daughter of a taxonomist once pointed out to me that among the characteristics shared by mammals is a tendency for the head to be large at birth compared to the rest of the body, and that the proportions elicit a (protective) response of “Oh, it’s a baby mammal” from other mammals.  Many if not most teddy bears have that characteristic, and in addition, are given a posture that looks more human (specifically baby human) than bearlike.  The one in this picture doesn’t have the large head, but it does have the posture.  I’m not saying there isn’t more to it than that, but I think she was on to something.

      • Yes, humans have the psychological tendency to think anything with neo-natal features is very cute. Disney, for instance, was well aware of that. All his characters “softened” over time and acquired those neo-natal features. But teddy bears seem to be on top of the scale of cuteness; I have no numbers to support it but of all stuffed toys teddy bears sell the best, from minuscule to lifesize. Why would that be?

  5. ‘Toon: Too bad those guns don’t literally start too spill blood as soon as sighted upon.
NYT: Dumpy is too wedded to his delusions to bother with the real world. He will blame any threatening activity on Hillary.
PPC: Good to see Cheney’s ugly face among the revelers!
TPM: So, what else is new.  I expect that when Dumpty looses the next election there will be a frenzy of shredding of documents all over the W.H.
    Rascals:  Good stuff!

  6. Let us hope that Fat Crazy Korean’s “promise” of a “Christmas gift” is just more wishful boasting. However, better brace ourselves for the worst. Evil leaders cooperate very poorly, and are prone to backstabbing each other. Remember Stalin and Hitler, and their pact?

  7. In your best “Oliver Twist” voice, do NOT be shy from asking “Is there anything you can prescribe for me in the interim that you believe might provide me some relief from this debilitating pain?”

We’re NOT sadists.  While recognizing that pain can be a useful piece of information guiding doctors to a diagnosis – we do NOT want our patients to suffer needlessly.
