Instead of reporting the impeachment hearing direct, as so many are, I decided to inject a note of levity, when I found a hilarious article by Alex Henderson.  in it, he illustrates just how absurd Resident Donald Trump’s [R-RU] protest letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi [D-CA] was.  He did so in five examples.

This Wednesday, December 18, the two articles of impeachment that the House Judiciary Committee approved against President Donald Trump — one for abuse of power, the other for obstruction of Congress — are expected to come up for a full vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. If the Democrat-controlled House votes to indict Trump on those articles (which is likely), they would go to the U.S. Senate for consideration. Trump, the day before the expected House vote, sent a long-winded, rambling letter to House Speaker Pelosi and railed against House Democrats for pursuing impeachment.

Here are some of the most absurd things Trump said to Pelosi in his December 17 letter…

…4. Trump claimed his treatment is worse than those accused during the Salem Witch Trials

In the letter, Trump compared impeachment to the Salem witch trials, writing, “more due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials.”

As HuffPost’s Jennifer Bendery wrote, 20 people were killed in the Salem witch trials, a fate that will surely escape the president…

I shared just the fourth of five examples.  Please click through for the other five.

Steven Colbert also poked fun at Trump over this.

Trump Complains Of “Spiteful Actions” And “Egregious Conduct” In Angry Letter To Nancy Pelosi

Since 20 witches were killed, one way we could (in jest) make his statement true is burn Fuhrer Witchenfarten at the stake 21 times!

  1. A negative prayer would be “Dear God, please let him stroke out NOW!” and Nancy Pelosi would never pray that. I think I’ve already said I suspect she prays for God to grant him wisdom, compassion, and courage (however, God’s response is always, “Are you f’n kidding me?”)

What the Salem witches received is actually a pretty good description of what Republicn due process looks like. Thanl you, but I’ll take Democratic due process any day. (However, I am on board with throwing him into the river. Ad it’s a pretty good bet he will float. Fat is much lighter than water.)

Somewhere I read he actually used the phrase “the phony Constitution.” I am not laughing, because I have known Dominionists and Dominionist-leaning evangelicals who actually do believe the Constitution is phony , because Thomas Jefferson cut the supernatural out of his Bible. Or something. Seriously.

  2. The picture of dt as the evil witch from the Wizard of Oz movie is scary!
I am still wondering who helped him write this, as he (or others) uses big words in the letter.
Must be some of the lawyers.
Additionally, if he were that upset about his being ‘impeached’, he should have taken the time to ‘man up’, and speak with Ms. Pelosi. I am sure she would have talked to him.
6 pages of nothing but complaining.
Years ago, went to the Salem Witch Museum, educational and sad to read the history.
*dt’s deranged letter to Ms. Pelosi: “He should work on his anger management and watch an old movie with a friend.” ~Alicia B. ~

  3. ‘Toon: Saw Margaret Hamilton on a bit of “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” on NPR the other night.  She was a nice lady.
Saw the Henderson article yesterday; a good one.
Colbert: I like the dunking stool idea!  The letter is pure projection.  I’m sure Joanne is right about his view on the constitution, just as we all know that he is the PHONY President!  Like Pat, I was at the Salem Witch Museum years ago, and have one of their bumper stickers on my 11 year old car at this moment: “Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with ketchup.”
I started to watch the House debate, earlier today, saw some lady (I’m being nice) from Az. blathering abut the Dems (because there is no real defense for Dumpy), and turned it off immediately.

    • Margaret Hamilton was a sweetie.  Other professionals liked working with her, and she had a cadre of devoted fans … with one of whom I saw her at the Kennedy Center in “A Little Night Music.”  A great experience.  (No, she didn’t sing “Send in the Clowns” – she played the mother of Glynis Johns, who did sing it.)

When I worked with costumes for a college theater department, my boss would say “That’s why they call it ‘acting'” when non-theater people made assumptions about an actor who was in fact playing against type, as they so often do.

  4. Cartoon: Love the photo of wicked tRump. Fits him perfectly.
When I first heard about the 6 page letter, I like Pat was wondering who actually wrote it. Brainless tRump certainly couldn’t of done it.
I agree with Joanne regarding the “Phony Constitution”.  Plus Mitch has it correct about having a phony president. tRump should of never been put into that position. Our country has suffered way too much. Not to mention all of the hate tRump has created between other countries we use to be friends with.
Watched the first couple of hours of the Impeachment Debate. It was sickening watch the R’s continue saying that there wasn’t any evidence. Plus it amazed me how they have forgotten that their flipping leader ordered all of of witnesses not to speak. So isn’t that a crime? Withholding evidence?? Sure seems like it it to me.
Colbert: Enjoy watching him. Always has a good view of the bas*ard tRump.

  5. The more Trump throws temper tantrumps (this was an honest typing mistake, marked by the speller immediately, but I like it now and will leave it in 😁)… anyway The more Trump acts like a two-year-old and sits on his bum bawling his eyes out, the more I want it all to be over. But I know it won’t be; not for the next year when it’ll get only worse after the Senate’s Republicans ‘vindicate’ him, and not after that when people have lost faith in all politics, have given up hope it’ll ever get better and are too tired to go and vote.

    Please prove me wrong, America!

  6. Thanks and hectic hugs to all. 13

On “phoney President”, that’s why I’ve called him Resident since before he infested the White House.

  7. Hectic hugs to Tom Cat and friends.♥️🌷🌷🍃

  8. His Orangeness lives in a fantasy world like a spoiled child hiding under his blanket. His letter comes across as the whining of a snotty brat who didn’t get the biggest piece of chocolate cake. He accuses Democrats of being inimical to democracy, when he is the real enemy of this nation’s greatest values.

President [sic] tRump is 73 years old – the “7” is silent.
