Impeach Eggnog for Christmas!

In my younger days, we used to treat our friends to a strong eggnog custard with chopped fruit added.  This season, we all get to celebrate our good will with a special treat.  Impeach Eggnog.  Nancy Pelosi issued the directive shortly after 9 AM EST this morning.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi appeared on Capitol Hill Thursday morning to announce next steps in the impeachment of Donald J. Trump. Pelosi began by reviewing some of the same historical foundations for impeachment that were covered in the Wednesday hearings before the House Judiciary Committee. She then provided a brief overview of the public hearings held before the Intelligence Committee, calling those who answered congressional subpoenas to appear “true patriots.”

“The president leaves us no choice but to act, because he has engaged once again in an abuse of power,” said Pelosi. She then announced that she was asking for Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to proceed with articles of impeachment against Trump.

The brief statement makes it clear that there are not going to be further lengthy hearings in the House; instead, articles will be drawn up for a vote before the full House. It appears that the House will complete the business of impeaching Trump before the Christmas break… [emphasis added]

  1. I don’t need it to happen by Christmas. I’ll settle for Spring. Actually, it could be before Chriatmas AND not until spring. If the Dems hand off the Articles to the Senate at this point, with the Christmas recess coming up, I trust no one thinks that the Senate is going to cancel any break time to set up the trial.

As cursed as we as a nation are with Orange Judas, we are also blessed to have Nancy Pelosi, and Adam Schiff, and Jerry Nadler. As Adam completed his delivery of the Committee Report, he received a standing ovation, in my opinion a well-deserved one. He was perfect for that phase of the inquiry. Now to torch goes to Jerry, who will execute this phase, hopefully, quite possibly, as well as Adam did his part. Nancy has taken a lot of flak through this process, and will probably take more, and not just from Republicans. But I think she did it exactly right.

  2. I watched it a little while ago.
She is one amazing & classy lady, who knows what she’s saying, doing & showing.
    Excellent!

  3. Great video.
I think very highly of Nancy Pelosi.
    She did it with style.
Appreciate her response to the one asking her if she hated tRump.
    Thanks TomCat

  4. I did not see her in the instance which Colleen refers to, but expect that she said it is not an issue of hating, but of law.
This is happening quicker than I thought it would.  while on Turkey vacation, in Charleston, I saw an ad that asked people to call Joe Cunningham, a congressman, and urge him to vote “No!” on impeachment.  The ad was a marvel of misinformation and propaganda!  It aired several times in the brief periods during which we were in the hotel room.
I’m going to call him and urge him to vote his conscience, referencing the ad, and the idea that this really must be beyond partisan politics, but about honoring the oath of office, to protect the constitution:  843-352-7572.
    Nancy ROCKS!

  5. One by one they step forth, Schiff, Pelosi, Nadler, and the impeachment process progresses by the book. As it should. And if it was anything near normal times and this impeachment was only about a president and his cronies as it was with Nixon, this process would either be finalized with Trump resigning or the ‘impartial’ Senate voting him out of office. But these haven’t been normal times for quite a while and the Republicans in the Senate haven’t been ‘impartial’ for over three years but instead have become part of his cronies.

So, this carefully conducted impeachment process will continue along the same lines for a while, either until Christmas or next year’s Spring and then die its swan’s death in the Senate, leaving all Democrats with the feeling they’ve done the right thing, which they have, but without changing anything. Only history will tell if it was worth it.

    • One more thing, Lona.  Millions of Americans will watch Democrats doing the right thing, putting the nation ahead of keeping their jobs, in some cases.  They will also watch Republicans goose-stepping behind their criminal Fuhrer  and cowering to put their power to obey ahead of the nation. 05

  6. The Orange Ogre cannot be removed from the Oval Office too soon! Let us hope that impeachment leads to his removal because we cannot rely on voters thanks to suppression and the mindless devotion of Republicans.

  7. Thanks and TGIF Hugs to all. 23

Colleen and Mitch, see today’s Open Thread.

  8. True, but those who watch it won’t be voting Republican anyway.

If the current state of things is an indication, he will spend four more years ruling a divided nation, where “hate” is a deepening emotion.

This is the last line of a comprehensive analysis titled “Nancy Pelosi charging forward with Donald Trump’s impeachment, but she doesn’t ‘hate’ the President” on the ABC by people from its Washington bureau. I know you’re short on time, but I can recommend it for a view on US politics by people elsewhere.
