Dec 022019

Here in the CatBox, my dinner yesterday was superb, but today, my heartburn is very severe.  Since I have a long day tomorrow with my needle biopsy, I decided to go back to bed and get all the rest I can.  So, except for a brief Personal Update tomorrow, I’ll see you Wednesday and be back in the saddle then.  Oh God It’s Monday Hugs!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:44 (average 5:08).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. Cartoon: I remember my dad talking about him, @the dinner table, a very good history lesson.
2 YAYS with no NAYs! Your guys won!! and so did mine!! I guess we partner up next week at noon- Dec 8th. 🙂 😉
Great song! Absolutely love Bob D.
Do take good, good care, and get your rest. Best to you to and fro tomorrow, and how the biopsy goes ok…too.
    This just in: Just one…lol
“Have you wondered why Miss Lindsey G. has been defending dt like his life depended on it? A friend in federal law enforcement told me about a certain threat dt has made to Graham. It’s personal, its awful, and it’s working very well.” ~ Don Winslow ~ (wish I was a fly on the wall, and knew a lil slice of that threat there)..pb.

  2. 5:29 You just had dawg last Thursday, and now you have heartburn. How about letting this one go?

Hopefully the religious ecstasy will help you recover and be fresh as a daisy tomorrow.

I know I just put up a Beau yesterday, but this one is on abortion legislation in Ohio, so it’s very timely. (And he thought of unicorns too.)

Cartoon – Of course we had a real Senate then. Not perfect, but at least real.

Past – Even I couldn’t have missed hearing, and hearing about, future Nobel Laureate Robert Zimmerman. In some ways it’s still pertinent, though I’d love to see it become more so.

    • Thanks for this and previous Beau videos, JD. I’m amazed by them, by his outspokenness on subjects that clearly affect him very strongly but never has him lose his temper and always keeps him choosing his words very carefully. Somehow the combination of his personal attire with his obvious compassion and with that carefully drafted message, makes that message come across even stronger and make his words resonate with his audience. I don’t think I have to tell you that I agree with everything he had to say on that abortion bill in Ohio.

  3. Joe McCarthy was a bit before my time, but he pales in comparison to that crap pile trump. I’m still not sure we’re going to survive the nightmare he brought to the country.

  4. 3:25 Couldn’t let you have this nice working dog, TomCat. Wouldn’t agree with your heartburn anyway, so I practically did you a favour. 😉

Cartoon: Long before my time, but I don’t expect this Senate to condemn anyone anytime soon.

BFTP: Great protest song, and many memories go with Bob Dylan’s original but the soundtrack accompanying pictures of Bob is not that’s not Bob Dylan’s, but Tracy Chapman who sang it live Madison Square Concert in 1992 for his 30th-anniversary celebration. At least it was in the YouTube video I got to see here. I love Tracy’s version – I’m was a big fan of her – but I have no memories connected to it.

All the best for your ‘day out’ for your biopsy, TomCat. Hope it won’t take long and your wheel-chair bus service makes it on time this time around.

  5. I’m old, but McCarthy was not around when I was a kid – at least on a kid’s radar.

But it’s sad – and FRIGHTENING – how today’s GOP is adapting & fine-tuning his tactics.

    Lord Have Mercy!

    • McCarthy was shut down (or up) in 1954 and died in 1957. I don’t really remember him personally, but I certainly remember the mindset. There was also a House committee (HUAC) with the same goals and methods that he used, which was not shut down in 1954. It cast a shadow over daily life up into my teens. In grade school, junior high, and even high school, I remember being admonished never to forget that anything I did would become a part of my “permanent record” and could come back to bite me. It was in junior high that I most vividly remember the HUAC being on my radar and that of my classmates. I remember having written a sketch in parody of Bob Newhart – mine was called “Julius Caesar on the Telephone” – and in it Caesar made a reference to the “House Un-Roman Activities Committee.” Everyone got the reference.

  6. Cartoon: I was only two when this was happening.
BFTP: Bob Dylan was fantastic singer. Was really into his music when I was younger.  Appreciated all he did for us who were out protesting.
Sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well. Sure hope you get to feeling better soon.
I will be praying that your needle biopsy goes well for you tomorrow.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  7. Thanks and ARGH! hugs to all! 13
