It’s a hectic day, here in the CatBox.  I had to update several program’s and drivers, prepare and submit my grocery order to Store to Door, prepare our fantasy football report, and advise an old friend, whose husband may be near death about, about the conditions for withdrawing support that I picked in my advance directive.  Yesterday’s eye torture visit was grueling.  The building was so hot that I was sweating for the 5.5 hours I was there.  I had to strain to line up my eyes to their machines from my wheelchair, and that set off my heartburn.  There was no evidence of remission, but one retina has a slightly swollen area, probably an after effect from the initial radiation.  Allison is referring me to a Retinologist.  She says he can give me a shot in the retina to fix it, at least for now.  I returned home at suppertime, but my stomach was so upset that I could eat very little.  This morning, I woke up feeling weak and dizzy.  I had to eat candy, because my blood sugar was 55.  Because I feel completely exhausted, this is my only article today.  Bleary-eyed Hugs to all.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:41 (average 4:46).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Fantasy Football Report:

Here is the news from our own fantasy football league.

Scores:

10Scores

Congrats to Vivian, Squatch, and Patty Monster for willing their games.  Kudos to Vivian for the the league high score.  Had I not listened to Nameless and had started Jackson instead of Mahomas, I would have won and had the league high score.

Standings:

Congrats to Vivian and WWWendy for leading the league.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Saying that “enough is enough,” congressional Republicans demanded on Monday that the thousands of people in the nation’s witness-protection program be required to appear on national television.

“What kind of a country protects someone’s identity just because they were instrumental in bringing a criminal to justice?” Representative Jim Jordan, of Ohio, asked. “I don’t want to live in a country like that.”

Representative Devin Nunes, of California, concurred. “Anonymity is all well and good, but we should be able to look at these people and know their names,” he said.

At the United States Senate, Lindsey Graham told reporters that “it’s time for people in the witness-protection program to put up or shut up.”

Dang, Andy! When are you going back to satire, instead of straight news?  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Chris Hayes Looks At The ‘Red Exodus’ As Another Republican Retires

Good! Flip that bigot’s seat! Every Republican in office is one Republican too many! RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): The Drifters – Under the Boardwalk

This was written about the boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ, where I grew up. I lost my virginity under that boardwalk, when the song was popular. Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. 4:38 Three blues are harder than two.

Wow! What a day! No wonder you are exhausted! I hope you get rested up. Do I remember correctly that tomorrow will be busy too?

Cartoon – Bad behavior by world leaders USED to have consequences. It needs to again.

TNY – Andy will go back to satire when the country becomes sane again, and not a moment sooner. Lunacy can’t be satirized.

Chris – And his family says, OH s**t! I figured he was tired of being mistaken for Steve. Not that they don’t have more in common than their last names. Among Republicans, primary challenges can be from the left or from the Trump. With Trump’s present lack of approval, the latter is probably less to worry about, but I do worry. Some of these Trumpers will, of course , lose, but some will also win. We need to hold it down as best we can. (I might add we need to be aware, and grateful, that in many districts voters of color – any color but white – will be stuck saving our sorry white a$$es – AGAIN.)

Past – I do remember this one (although if it hadn’t been used in the movie “Beaches,” I might have forgoten it by now.) Now I have an earworm (not mad at you – I’ve had far worse ones.)

  2. Cartoon: Horrible, and wanton cruelty for his war crimes. In his final statement, he apologized for the atrocities committed by the Japanese military and urged the American military to show compassion toward the Japanese people, who had suffered devastating air attacks and the two atomic bombings. *wiki
FFL:  Congrats to those who won, and those who are leading the League.
NYer: That’s the way it getting, isn’t it? Scary!!
MSNBC: Great clip. The less R’s there are…the better!
BFTP: What a great song! Yep, make out time!! lol

So sorry and sad about your friend and the decision that they must take, on their mate’s journey. Your visit does not sound like it went well, at all.  Oh, my….a shot in the eye. Ouch !! No words on that subject. I do hope that you start feeling better, and that you get your rest, and enjoy your evening. Do take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom for all you do.

    2. “On Veterans Day, 56 bills have passed the House to help Veterans – but Zero have been taken up in the Senate by Moscow Mitch.” ~ Michael M. ~
    3. “Trump appeared to give his Veterans Day speech from behind a hockey penalty box.” ~ Aaron R. ~
    4. “Was DTjr ‘Triggered’? Looked like it, and left running and screaming like a baby as his father might say.” ~ Michael O. ~

  3. New Yorker:  Sadly, I can really imagine these bozos coming out with something lie that.
MSNBC:  King is more than welcome to retire from politics, certainly from congress.  He can take as many other jackasses with him as he likes!
The Drifters: I was not a Jersey kid, and was never “under” the boardwalk.  So, TC, you are becoming a legend in your own time.  I went to college in downtown Brooklyn, and my fraternity house was right next door to the once famous Brooklyn Fox movie theatre.  At some point in the’60’s they started hosting R&R shows, and the Drifters were there, at one time.  Their dressing room window looked over Flatbush Ave., above the Nevis St. subway station, and one day several of us got to chat briefly with Charlie, of the Drifters.
TC, all I can say in regard to your medical situation, is remain optimistic,or get there.  I sense that you are there, in any case.

  4. Sorry to hear about your grueling day at the eye doctor’s office.  I suppose it’s marginally encouraging.  Hope your diabetes gets on a more even keel after things settle down.

“Had I not listened to Nameless and had started Jackson instead of Mahomas, I would have won and had the league high score.”

I thought we were supposed to take responsibility for our own actions and own them, rather than blame an INNOCENT scapegoat.  Please note I NEVER recommended Mahomes (who had a stellar game) – I just said his return to starting QB was the lead story on all the TV channels.

    😉

    • But Nameless!  You had such a walking wet dream over him, how could I help but be infected by all that excitement and take it as a recommendation.  12

  5. Usually the rats are the first ones to abandon a sinking ship. In this case, though, the rats are the ones staying on the ship.

    • There were no non-rats on the ship to begin with, so there would be rats in both the first and last categories (and also in between.)  Some will probably go down with it … which is unusual, at least for the four-legged kind.

  6. Cartoon: Awful.
FFL: Way to go Vivian, Wendy, Squatch and Patty Monster. I wish I knew how. I know football, but not playing online ones.
NYT: Crazy…despicable to see the direction it’s heading. I’ll be so happy when our country gets back on track.
BFTP: Great tune. The Drifters were a great group. I was 12 when the song was popular. Remember it very well.
Sorry to hear about everything you had to go through yesterday at your eye appointment. It scares the heck out of me to even think of having someone stick a needle in my eye. Bless you TomCat. Hope you get to feeling better real soon. I worry about your level being so low. Please take care.
    Thanks TomCat

  7. I’m sorry your day was so hectic and troubled. I hope you feel better after some rest, TomCat.

3:03 More green on that beach than in my entire lot.

Cartoon: There was a time that these monsters got what they had coming, though spending the rest of their life behind second rate bars would have sufficed for me.

TNY: I know it’s satirical, Andy, but it isn’t very funny. Protection means nothing to Republicans, nor the lives that would be at risks should that protection fail.

MSNBC: An exodus of Republicans retiring to spend more time with family? Fleeing to crawl back under the rock they came from more likely.

BFTP: No such memories. Boardwalks in Holland are embedded in the sand. 09

  8. Hi all & happy impeachment AM! Hope you are feeling better today, TC. Freya, I was picturing a huge rat horde when this exodus was being discussed last nite on MSNBC!Run…….scurry!21 Chairman Schiff is getting started now. I apologize in advance(and 4 the past) re: Ohio giving the world “Gym” Jordan!03 Take care—-its quite cold here, ordered another “cat tent” w/heated floor to put on back porch. Have a motley crew of 5 felines of various ages taking refuge. Peace

  9. Congratulations to Squatch for rising to 3rd place ahead of the Puddy Tat in FF standings!  One reporter described Puddy Tat as follows:

He is plotting his next move as he hangs his head in shame!

  10. Thanks and way pooped Hump Day Hugs to all! 23
