It’s a muggy day with 88% humidity.  I feel itchy, as it’s shower time, but WWWendy will not return from her weekend party until late this evening, and will be here in the morning.  Therefore, I will have only a Personal Update tomorrow.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 4:24).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (a blast from the past): The Rolling Stones – (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction [Official Lyric Video]

Ah! The memories! RESIST!!

From CNN: Workers at the Pennsylvania petrochemical plant where President Donald Trump spoke Tuesday were told that if they didn’t attend the event, they either had to use paid time off or receive no pay for the day.

At least some of the workers who attended the speech were instructed not to protest the President, who told the crowd of workers at the Royal Dutch Shell plant he would be imploring their union leaders to support his reelection.

And the sleazy son of a bitch bragged about crowd size and adulation. What a crock! RESIST!!

From Think Progress: The U.S. Supreme Court in its upcoming session will hear arguments on whether anti-LGBTQ employment discrimination is sex discrimination.

The court will hear arguments on October 8 about whether LGBTQ workers are protected by the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

“This is a momentous occasion. It is a pivotal moment and the public should be paying attention,” Omar Gonzalez-Pagan, senior attorney at Lambda Legal, a civil rights organization focused on LGBTQ people, told ThinkProgress.

“These cases will affect the ability of LGBTQ people to be full members of society and to contribute to society by entering the workplace and be free of discrimination.”

I fear that Roberts, Scalito, Pervert Thomas, Whoresuch, and Pervert Kava-Nazi will gang up on the Constitution again. RESIST!!

  1. 4:17 I really don’t know how. I’m practically asleep now.

I’m expecting a grocery delivery myself, so I’ll be brief too.

CNN – But those who DID show up got time-and-a half. Grrr. And to think I used to like Shell (of course that was about fifty years ago.)

TP – Yeah. I’m not sanguine either.

  2. YT: Great song, blast from the past!
CNN: Phony as a $3 bill. I bet those folks were po’ed too, I would have been…
    TP: Gulp!!!
    Cartoon: Beautiful picture!
Hope that you have a peaceful day and get your rest. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

BTW: Cedric Benson died last night in a motorcycle accident, in Austin, I’m stunned and saddened by this news! Condolences to his family and his fans over this tragic news.

This just in: “Democratic people with multiple personalities should donate one of them to dt.” ~ anon ~

  3. So, workers were essentially blackmailed into attending a tRump rally? That is really sleazy – and unethical. Big Fossil Fuel’s fight is merely delaying the inevitable, because sooner or later fossil fuels will run out. Already solar and wind are cheaper than coal, oil or nuclear. Either we get with the times or we get left behind. Little wonder some people are fleeing the U.S., or making plans to do so.

Discriminating against people due to sexual orientation is just as wrong as discriminating due to race, gender or creed. Period.

Great cartoon. So, how do the flat-earth bugnuts explain the curved shadow on Earth? I’m sure they’ve got some ludicrous male bovine feces at the ready. Maybe they’ll claim it was Photoshopped. Yeah, right – Photoshop back in 1966.

  4. While I know the jobs are welcome, the new plant will be making plastics and some fear the health and safety of residents…read unions OKd Shell’s plan because he was supposed to talk about plans to support unions and labor…Also read an awful lot of people left well before he stopped speaking…Wonder what else they’ll take up and whether the House will have investigated the testimony concerns before court begins…

  5. Just seems like there has GOT to be some FEC violation in the Shell forced “play-for-pay” attendance.

The lawyers from Citizens for Responsible Ethics in Washing (CREW) are looking into it.

  6. YT: Great song by the Rolling Stones. Brings memories to me.
CNN: What a bunch of crap; the employer telling them you go, or if you don’t you lose pay. Plus to tell them they can’t protest. Up their employer’s a*s.
TP: It shouldn’t even be questioned. It is discriminating to not employee a person due to their sexual orientation.
Cartoon: Nice photo. Hope they continue doing more with our Space program.
Hope you had a wonderful Sunday. Glad to hear that Wendy will be coming over tomorrow. Enjoy.

  7. 2:27 I’m sure the site picks the images randomly, but the past few days they’ve been rather bland, don’t you think?

CNN: Apparently it wasn’t only Shell that left the workers little choice, their Unions were in on it too, because they were promised a speech in which Trump would praise their unions but:

If all of that wasn’t bad enough, after forcing the union workers to watch Trump’s speech, he took the time to attack their leadership for standing up for their interests instead of kowtowing to him. (Washington Press)

“I’m going to speak to some of your union leaders to say, ‘I hope you’re going to support Trump.’ OK?” he said. “And if they don’t, vote them the hell out of office because they’re not doing their job.” (Trump)

TP: Oh no.; it’s not hard to guess what the outcome will be. I think your comment is spot-on, TomCat.

  8. Thank you for the news Tom.😺

  9. Thanks and hurried hugs to all. 26
