Condemned!

Resident Donald Trump, Fuhrer of the Republican Reich is a racist.  How racist is he?  Every bone in his body is racist, down to and including his imaginary bone spurs.  He has received the official endorsement of the KKK and refused to disavow it.  Yesterday the House of Representatives voted to condemn him for his racist tweets against “the crew”.  Even four Republicans voted to condemn him.

The House voted on Tuesday to condemn as racist President Trump’s attacks against four congresswomen of color, but only after the debate over the president’s language devolved into a bitterly partisan brawl that showcased deep rifts over race, ethnicity and political ideology in the age of Trump.

The measure, the first House rebuke of a president in more than 100 years, passed nearly along party lines, 240 to 187, after one of the most polarizing exchanges on the floor in recent times. Only four Republicans and the House’s lone independent, Representative Justin Amash of Michigan, voted with all Democrats to condemn the president.

“I know racism when I see it, I know racism when I feel it, and at the highest level of government, there’s no room for racism,” said Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia, an icon of the civil rights movement.

Some Republicans were just as adamant in their defense of Mr. Trump: “What has really happened here is that the president and his supporters have been forced to endure months of allegations of racism,” said Representative Dan Meuser, Republican of Pennsylvania. “This ridiculous slander does a disservice to our nation.”… [emphasis added]

I like the way Lawrence O’Donnell tells the story.

Why did all but four Congressional Republicans vote to mark themselves as actively complicit in their Fuhrer’s racism? They needed a badge with which to proclaim their own racism, when their sheets and hoods are in the laundry.

  1. I realize it’s a common metaphor for being deeply ingrained, but, like Lawrence, I don’t think racism is in the bones. But let it stand. I’m not sure I want to contemplate the concept of Cheetolini having a mind.

  2. John Lewis’ words spoke volumes!

Lawrence O’Donnell’s conversations with his panel was spot on as well. Excellent !

  3. Yep he certainly is racist. Every action he has shown and spoke about immigration and now to these four congress women. I appreciate the video showing John Lewis. Explaining what he faced in 1965 in the march with Rev Martin Luther King. jr.
With tRump saying to these congress women to go back to where they came from is a racist remark.
Listening to tRump say he is the least racist person, we know it means he 100% racist, since he speaks opposite.
Hope they can get rid of him soon.

    • I am kind of glad he is still denying being a racist, because it means he still recognizes that racism is bad, and therefore he can be fought.  The other option – minimalize and justify – “Yeah, I’m a racist, I prefer my own race to others, why not” – trying to fight that is like punching cotton candy.  (And I didn’t misspell that, I mean “minimalize,” as in “minimalism.”

  4. i enjoyed Nancy Pelosi’s speech to him!!!

  5. Dear Dan Meuser,
The “disservice to our country” has been the entire history, and will be the legacy, of this impostor cum Resident.

  6. Cheat-oh doesn’t have a tolerant bone in his body. We need to back truly Progressive candidates over the next year and a half, and bring about a Blue Wave in 2020. Let us shame the reich-wingers and their B.S.

  7. As my stepfather would say: “Screwed, glued and tattooed!”   The Dark Lord has been caught with his pants down and it ain’t pretty.  I think he feels the need to say “I am not a racist” because he knows he is.  Uncle Adolph must be so proud.

Good on the Dems for the condemnation!  Too bad most of the Republicans don’t have the guts to follow suit.

  8. Thanks and way pooped hugs. 12
