Smellyanne Above the Law

In 1939, Congress passed the Hatch Act.  In simple terms, it states that government employees may not engage in political activities, while on the job.  In short, when on the taxpayers’ dollar, they work for the taxpayers, not for Republican Reich.  Smellyanne Conway, pin-up girl and councilor to the Fuhrer of the Republican Reich, Resident Donald Trump, has violated the Hatch Act so extensively that the Office of Special Counsel has demanded her immediate dismissal.  Trump says no.

President Trump said Friday that he will not fire White House counselor Kellyanne Conway for repeated violations of the Hatch Act, which bars federal employees from engaging in political activity in the course of their work.

“Well I got briefed on it yesterday, and it looks to me like they’re trying to take away her right of free speech, and that’s just not fair,” Trump said during an interview on Fox News.

His comments came a day after the Office of Special Counsel publicly recommended Conway’s removal from federal office, calling her a “repeat offender.”

A report submitted to Trump found that Conway violated the Hatch Act on numerous occasions by “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media.”… [emphasis added]

That does not take away her right of free speech, because she could say the same thing in her own driveway, just not on the job.  The White House also said that, it does not apply to Twitter, because the Act does not mention Twitter by name.  That’s absurd, because it applies to TV, which also was not around in 1939.

Lawrence O’Donnell had been documenting Smellyanne’s Hatch Act violations for some time.

This is not new.  During the GW Bush Administration, the failed Fourth Reich, Karl Rove scheduled cabinet members to appear in their official capacity at campaign rallies during the 2006 midterms.  Why should Republicans campaign on their donors’ money, when they can do so on our money?

  1. Like Mr. O’Donnell said, “It’s all the same story, every day.” So true!!

I personally can’t stand her, and while I do happen to hear a few seconds of her commenting about something (lying) on tv, I change the channel. I find her comments flippant, and obnoxious. She should lose her job, or leave. Now!! imho.

  2. What makes this story even more flagrant is that the Special Counsel, Henry Kerner, is a Trump appointee, having taken office on October 30, 2017. But, even though Trump appointed him, he can’t stomach KellyAnne’s nonsense. I suppose he’ll be fired as soon as Trump finds someone to do the firing for him. And then what?

Every veteran is familiar with the Hatch Act, and was required to abide by it. Yet there are still RWNJ veterans who support Orange Judas. Go figure.

  3. I like others, can’t stand seeing her. Amazes me the way she’s acts like tRump and can do no wrong.
Curious what her husband has to say about it, since he’s always speaking down of tRump?
Plus with him being an lawyer and knows the laws.

  4. The Trump Administration will go in the record book as the most corrupt in American history.

  5. Thanks, Hugs, and Amen to all. 16

  6. Smellyanne is as bad as the Dark Lord.  If she is an example of “the best people”, God help the US!!!

I agree with JD, Henry Kerner is not long for the administration.
