The Mueller Report

The Mueller Report was not as redacted as many expected, myself included.  It lays out a compelling case for future charges of Obstruction of Justice against Putin’s Puppet, Resident Donald Trump, aka the Orange Obstructer.  Despite a centrist article and over 50 minutes of video coverage, we are barely scratching the surface here.  I can promise more coverage over time.

1019Obstruction

For nearly a month, the American public has been under the impression, thanks to a four-page “summary” by Attorney General William Barr, that Robert Mueller could not decide whether President Donald Trump had obstructed justice because of “difficult questions of law and fact.” Barr suggested that the special counsel, after 22 months of investigation, simply couldn’t make up his mind and left it to his boss to decide.

Now that we have seen almost the entire report of more than 400 pages, we know Barr intentionally misled the American people about Mueller’s findings and his legal reasoning. As a former federal prosecutor, when I look at Mueller’s work, I don’t see a murky set of facts. I see a case meticulously laid out by a prosecutor who knew he was not allowed to bring it.

Mueller’s report detailed extraordinary efforts by Trump to abuse his power as president to undermine Mueller’s investigation. The case is so detailed that it is hard to escape the conclusion that Mueller could have indicted and convicted Trump for obstruction of justice—if he were permitted to do so. And the reason he is not permitted to do so is very clear: Department of Justice policy prohibits the indictment of a sitting president.

Mueller still could have reached a conclusion regarding obstruction of justice, but he believed it would be unfair to reach a conclusion that Trump could not rebut in court. How do we know this? Because Mueller says it. If he had reached a conclusion that Trump obstructed justice, Mueller wrote, Trump could not go to court to obtain a “speedy and public trial” with the “procedural protections” afforded to a criminal defendant by the Constitution…. There’s no way around it.  Barrf lied.

To detail chargeable crimes in the report, here are two video clips.  The first is from Rachel Maddow.

The second is from Jesse Dollemore.  His channel is here.

Next, now that we know, what do we do about it?  Jerry Nadler [D-NY] has subpoenaed the full Mueller Report.  That’s a good move, but the Republican Reich will tie that up in court for months.  The best way for Congress to see the entire report is to open an impeachment investigation.  That provides Congress the legal standing to be granted access to the report and all underlying  material.  If we don’t have the support of enough Senate Republicans to convict, for their own self-preservation, there’s no need to conclude the investigation with Articles of Impeachment.

My biggest concern is, if Trump gets away with this, it will embolden future Republicans to commit even more heinous crimes.

  1. I think Mueller is correct, it is Congresses duty to indict a sitting president and I believe that is what the Constitution says, which is why the Justice Department has a policy of not being able to indict a sitting president.
Pelosi won’t start impeachment proceedings, because she knows she cannot win that vote in the Senate.
So the Mueller report is going nowhere, except to be debated into history.
The only way to get Trump out of office, is to vote him out.
The American people elected Trump president by the same rules (with political unfairness that has always been a part of our election system) we have been electing presidents for over 200 years.
The American people (voter) had plenty of evidence of Trump’s despicable character before the election, yet, they voted him president anyways and may well elect him president again in 2020.
    This is all so SAD!!!
What does that say about the American voter? We know Trump is and always has been a lying crook. It’s the voters who have changed, that they would elect such a scum bag president.

  2. “I see a case meticulously laid out by a prosecutor who knew he was not allowed to bring it.” That’s exactly what I see too. But IANAL, so it’s nice to have my impression confirmed by a REAL lawyer. And that’s exactly what I was expecting to see, if we were allowed to see it. I’m a little shocked that we were, but I’m surely glad of it.

  3. I’m glad that this got out, and I have faith that Mr. Mueller knew what he was up against from the very beginning, and followed accordingly, by & to the law.

Not that Barr gives a hoot, because he is busy covering for the boss. And…the (r’s) don’t give one sheet about the citizens, they will continue to subject themselves to this heathen in the oval office. Sad, sad, sad.

  4. Of course Barr(f) is going to claim Mueller’s report found no wrongdoing on Cheat-oh’s behalf and release a severely edited version of the findings. He is tRump’s lap dog and stooge, totally dedicated to doing his master’s bidding and justice and truth be damned. Let the general public see the complete report, unedited and uncensored, so we can decide for ourselves!

  5. What bArr did to Mueller’s report is crazy. I agree with you, TC and others that this is going to only open a huge can of worms…more like the size of snakes. I feel that it’s going to get very ugly in the coming weeks.

  6. Looking at Twitler’s first Happy-Day-Dance response is what I think we all expected.

Now that someone has TOLD him (or showed him with stick-man drawings … Lord knows he couldn’t read all that) what the “Mueller Report” actually says, today he goes full-bore ballistic.  THAT is ALSO what I think we all expected.

I shudder to think how he would respond to an actual global crisis!  Be sure to hug your loved-ones every chance you get!  With Twitler at the helm, it might well-be the last time you get the chance!

    SAD!!!

  7. One way or another, Drumpf needs to be, and most likely will be, prosecuted for his obstruction of justice. Both the House and any prosecutors after Drumpf leaves the Oval Office can use the 128 page part II of Mueller’s report as a instruction manual for either impeachment or indictments. For both unison between Democrats is needed, unison for impeachment to stand strong against Republican accusations of starting another witch hunt, and unison to have a Democrat win the election to prevent Drumpf from going nto a second term.

But what about Barff? In the end, he didn’t have the guts to redact, i.e. rewrite, the report into what his master would have wanted, but hie lied. He lied when he presented his four-page summary with the remark it exonerated Drumpf, he lied when he presented his redacted version and again remarked that Drumpf was cleared. True, perhaps from direct collusion, as he so often repeated in his presentation before the press before they had had a chance to read it. However, he forgot to redact 128 pages out of the report altogether, and it is crystal-clear that Drumpf is guilty of several counts of obstruction of justice. He lied twice and he defended his lies several times in his forrmal role of AG. Doesn’t that warrant an investigation too?

  8. The bread crumbs in Mueller’s report leading to the Big House for the Dark Lord are very clear.  Maybe he could not indict him, but he had the knowledge to help another prosecute the SOB.

    From AlterNet:

“Trump on Friday lashed out at the Mueller report, claiming some of the findings were “fabricated.” He labelled the investigative report as “crazy.” The president has previously claimed that the report “exonerated” him.”

So I wonder how Trump feels about Barrf now?  After all, Trump thought that Barrf’s “summary” of the Mueller Report said he was exonerated.  And Trump being Trump, went to town with that idea.  The problem — it did not exonerate him.  So Trump is very, very smart?  Not bloody likely!

  9. Thanks and hurried hugs to all. 26
