Big rush.  Wendy’s sister, Katie, will be here soon, and we have a busy morning.

Done, I’m still busy and way pooped.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:43 (average 5:16).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (SNL Channel): Mueller Report Cold Open

Dang!! They mimic the real assholes beautifully! RESIST!!

From YouTube (A blast from the past): Steppenwolf – Born to be wild 1969

Ah, the memories! What a drummer! RESIST!!

From NY Times: In a major legal blow to President Trump’s push to expand offshore oil and gas development, a federal judge ruled that an executive order by Mr. Trump that lifted an Obama-era ban on oil and gas drilling in the Arctic Ocean and parts of the North Atlantic coast was unlawful.

The decision, by Judge Sharon L. Gleason of the United States District Court for the District of Alaska, concluded late Friday that President Barack Obama’s 2015 and 2016 withdrawal from drilling of about 120 million acres of Arctic Ocean and about 3.8 million acres in the Atlantic “will remain in full force and effect unless and until revoked by Congress.” She wrote that an April 2017 executive order by Mr. Trump revoking the drilling ban “is unlawful, as it exceeded the president’s authority.”

The decision, which is expected to be appealed in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, immediately reinstates the drilling ban on most of the Arctic Ocean off the coast of Alaska, a pristine region home to endangered species including polar bears and bowhead whales where oil companies have long sought to drill. Along the Atlantic coast, it blocks drilling around a series of coral canyons that run from Norfolk, Va., to the Canadian border which are home to unique deepwater corals and rare fish species.

Kudos to Judge Gleason and to President Obama for appointing a fair judge. RESIST!!

  1. SNL: Made a point of watching, last night!  Assuming (I know!) that his cap blows up in the Empty Orange’s face, down the road, this will be of immense value!
    Love Steppenwolf!
NYT: So far, so good, as Drumph’s gifts to the fossil fuel industry keep getting torpedoed!
‘Toon: And, for the GOPIGGIES that can’t come too soon.  Their definition of democracy is sooooooo twisted!

  2. Bright blessings on Judge Gleason! Too bad she can’t declare tRump’s phony state of emergency invalid, too – or force the release of the Mueller report. Even if Mueller’s findings don’t include evidence of tRump having direct business with Russia or Russians, it is bound to have enough juicy tidbits to satisfy his legions of enemies.

  3. 6:34 I don’t know – “fried snacks” doesn’t sound very healthful for a puddy tat.

TC, as a long time ACLU member, probably knows about this, but, for the rest of us, the ACLU is putting together a project to “find out the plans and positions of every candidate, and push them to be better” – before the primaries. They are livestreaming a “kick-off” on it TODAY, at 5:00 pm Eastern. You need to sign up to get it, but there’s no obligation that I can see to follow up in any particular way. The signup link is HERE. If you’re seeing this later than that, you can still sign up to get information sent to you – same link.

SNL – Straight news … but his eggplant!

    Wild – Ah, yes.

NYT – Saw this, and very glad to see it, too. Hope it continues to stand.

Cartoon – With any luck the last will not be until the world ends, and they will not be around long enough to celebrate.

    RESIST AND PERSIST !!!

Where I am, it kind of came in AND went out like a lamb. And I’m still waiting for heavy snow in the mountains.

  4. SNL: I detected a serious vein coming from DeNiro. He was hoping and praying just like I was…..good skit.

YT: Ahh…the good ole days, great song!!

NYT: PTL, and thank God for Judge Gleason’s decision. Born to be Wild. Like a true nature child, we were born, born to be wild, we can climb so high,I never wanna die….*Steppenwolf (and neither do the animals and our environment!)

Cartoon: They’d like that. In New Jersey, March 31 is annually celebrated as Thomas Mundy Peterson Day in recognition of his historic vote. *wiki

Hope that you have a good rest of your day. Relax and rest, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “The Saudi’s cut an American journalist up with a bone saw because they didn’t agree with him. Now, Trump turns around and gives those murderers nuclear technology. What in the hell do you think will happen when America and Saudi Arabia have a disagreement??” ~ Ed K. ~

  5. SNL:  Great SNL opening.  I love DeNiro playing Mueller.

YT:  Great song.  Brings back good memories.

NYT:  Thank goodness for Judge Gleason.

Have a good evening and rest up.  Thank you TomCat.

  6. SNL: Loved their opening skit.
YT: Remember the song very well. One of my favorites.
NYT: Bless Judge Gleason. Agree with Freya that I wish she would be able to control and stop tRump’s state of emergency shenanigans.
Hope you had a pleasant Sunday.

SNL was one of the BEST Ever!!
and now we have a President that wants to ruin all the pristine water’s of Alaska, Really terrible.
But then we wants to ruin everything we all had worked for too.More oil spills will never be cleaned up.

  8. 4:07 Snacks from a greasy spoon shack? Not for me, thanks.

SNL: Watched with the help of VPN: brilliant! 🎆 Worth investing in a VPN app for.

NYT: Kudos to Judge Sharon L. Gleason. One executive order down as “unlawful, as it exceeded the president’s authority.” It’s up to Democrats to find the relevant judges to do the same to Drumpf other executive orders.

  9. Puzzle — 4:21  Not for me!

SNL — Not available in Canada.  05

YouTube — I was not allowed to listen to rock back in 1969 so I don’t remember this, although I was 17 at the time.  I had to fight with my mother to listen to Herman’s Hermits, and there was definitely no Beatles.  I guess you might say I was culturally deprived.

NY Times — ” “will remain in full force and effect unless and until revoked by Congress.” She wrote that an April 2017 executive order by Mr. Trump revoking the drilling ban “is unlawful, as it exceeded the president’s authority.” ” — AMEN!  Kudos to Judge Sharon L Gleason!!!

Cartoon — It will be a very long time, if ever, before that celebration by Republicans can happen.  I vote for the celebration never-never plan!

It has been very good here.  The flowering fruit trees, the forsythia, the magnolia trees, hawthorn trees etc are all out but not yet at their peak.  It is supposed to be cooler this week with some rain.

  10. Thanks and busy hugs to all! 35
