It’s a chilly Friday here at the CatBox.  I plan to publish tomorrow, but I may be a bit late, because WWWendy is coming a day early tomorrow.  I want to publish then, because it looks like both Monday and Thursday will be single article days with no Care2 links messages.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzles:

Today’s took me 4:18 (average 7:32).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Finns Clap Back At Nikki Haley: Our Health Care Is Great!

Love this! Kudos to all the nations with universal, single-payer health care. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Police misconduct in California is about to come under a powerful spotlight. Not just one news organization but 33 of them have announced they’ll be focusing on “rogue police officers” and their departments, and rather than go it alone, the news outlets are joining forces.

The organizations, which include the Los Angeles Times, KQED, the Southern California News Group, and the Sacramento Bee, will be aided by a new police transparency law in the state—and by their strength in numbers.

This needs to be done nationwide. For far too long, criminal cops move down the road and go back to work, whenever they are caught and fired. RESIST!!

From NY Times: Phil Bryant, the Republican governor of Mississippi, on Thursday signed a bill largely banning abortions once doctors can detect a trace of a fetal heartbeat with an ultrasound, a milestone that can come as early as six weeks into pregnancy.

Mississippi is only the latest state to press for the strict abortion limit — the sort that has already been passed and then blocked in the courts in states including Kentucky, which approved it earlier this month, and Iowa, where a law passed last year was struck down by a state court in January. About 10 other states also are debating bills to ban abortions once fetal heartbeats are found, a point at which some women and girls are not yet aware that they are pregnant.

If this makes it to SCROTUS (Republican Unconstitutional VD), Injustice Pervert Kava-Nazi may well to drive the final nail in the coffin of Roe v. Wade. We need to win the Senate and impeach him for perjury during his confirmation hearings. RESIST!!

  1. 6:31 I think it took me longer than the average last time. At least this is better.

OK, there’s anti-vaxx, and then there’s ANTI-VAXX. His own children. NINE of them. Edie, I am so sorry you are stuck with him. At leas it can’t be forever.

Chris – “Trumpsplain” – perfect. When are they going to learn NOT to mess with the Scandinavians?

DKos – Oh, my. I remember KQED – glad it’s still around. This is going to be fun Hopefully, wen they find examples of LEOs egregiously doing things RIGHT (like the Sheriff in Oklahoma today), they will share that too.

NYT – It’s not about life, not is it even about abortion. It’s about controlling women. If for no other reason (though there are other reasons), this is why we need the ERA.

Cartoon – And, like everything else made illegal by Congress or any legislative body, there’s still some going on. But at least it can now be prosecuted.

  2. MSNBC: I guess one has to be as dumb as a bag of hammers, to have been in the Drumph administration, and love to lie.
DK: Wishing them luck.  Otherwise it’s just like pedophile priests simply moving from one parish to another, hmmmm.
NYT: the GOPIGGIES are working assiduously to get this issue to SCOTUS in the hopes that it will break Roe v. Wade!
‘Toon: The GOPIGGIES would like anything that will give them an excuse to have as many women as possible under their thumbs.  Of course, if they took their thumbs out of their behinds, they’d have a good place for their heads, as per TC’s apparently favorite ‘Toon.

  3. MSNBC: Good clapback! Are any of them in the WH intelligent, and sane?? Don’t answer that, I know the answer. lol

DK: Holy moly! Good for them. Like you said, I’d like to see this nationwide too, for all to see.

NYT: A norm for the Republicons to step on women’s rights. This is a personal decision, not the government’s.

    Cartoon: Word.

Hi, WWWendy! You sound very busy these next few days. In the meantime, do get your rest, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “On March 21st, it was Barron Trump’s birthday. Instead of spending time with his son, Trump was busy attacking a deceased war hero.” ~ Telisa C. ~ (not the 20th as I posted on C2).
    2. “If your church preaches that Donald Trump is chosen by God to save us, we recommend you find another church.” ~ Scott S. ~

  4. 5:20 I think I was faster when this dahlia appeared not that long ago.

MSNBC: The Fins are not only the happiest people in the world, which is partly due to their great healthcare, but are also very much in touch with what is happening in the rest of the world, unlike those Americans who get their only information from Faux News, including Drumpf and his administration and staff. Wouldn’t you be happy if you had good, dependable healthcare for all and news agencies who kept you abreast with the misery Drumpf and leaders like him bringing to their countries?

DK: Sounds like an excellent plan, but those news organisations that have now joined in “tarring” bad cops should take great care not to throw away the child with the bathwater and make all cops look bad by only reporting on the bad guys. If police departments handle bad cops adequately and have good programs going to change the mindset of all involved, that should also be reported on. And the good cops should be mentioned now and again too.

NYT: It won’t be long before these inhumane laws come before SCOTUS and if they do before the 2020 elections, American women will find it hard to get an abortion after 10 weeks. A minority of bible-thumping talibangelists will then have pushed their evangelical “laws” down the throat of the majority. No abortion law forces a woman to have an abortion, but anti-abortion laws take away a woman’s right to chose.

  5. Puzzle — 5:09  Beautiful colour!  This flower will look stunning tucked behind your ear Puddy Tat!  It will contrast your fur colour splendidly.

MSNBC — I like our almost universal health care too!  The 2019 budget was just released for debate and vote this past week and within it are the underpinnings of a national pharmacare plan which should bring structure and economies of scale to prescription drugs.  Here in BC, we have provincial pharmacare coverage which is based on income as noted on tax returns.  I understand that Ontario has full coverage, although with Doug Ford as premier, I wonder how long that will last (he is so conservative that he might as well be a Republican!. . . and he is not well liked!).  Consider that Canada is #9 on the happiness scale.

Daily Kos — Good on the “police” police!  As the WaPo says “Democracy dies in darkness!”  Shine a light on the corruption and bad policing!  Good policing should also be highlighted so that other officers and departments can emulate them.

NY Times — This is nothing new to us at PP but Republicans are disregarding the rights of women to have control over their own bodies and turning them into human incubators.  You can bet that if men were the ones that carried a baby to term over 9 months, there would be abortion readily available!  Is the Trump régime planning to treat American women like the Taliban treats Afghan women?  It would not surprise me, although, if you remember those pink Pussy hats, you ain’t seen nothing yet if US women are blocked.

Cartoon — Thank goodness because one spouse is more than enough!  A friend of mine who had been in the military said that I should marry a sailor.  He said it is like being single for 6 months while he is deployed and married for 6 months with all the perks.  I did not follow his advice choosing to stay single.

Well the sunshine disappeared but no rain yet.  It was little cooler today but still up to about 19C (66F). It has been very light at this time of night, but not tonight.  Having said that, we may see northern lights tomorrow night courtesy of solar storms.  When I lived up north, I saw them all the time.  Just magnificent!

  6. MSNBC: Anyone who thinks the health care here in the U S must be on some sort of mental disorder. We are far from it compared to other countries who really do take care of their people.
DK: Glad that the abuse some officers are doing to people are finally going to be really looked at, Sick of seeing on the news each and every night how people are shot at or beaten up when they didn’t have a gun or anything on them. These criminal type cops need to be removed.
NYT: Shame on these fools who won’t protect women rights.

  7. MSNBC:  Great clap Back by the Finns.

DK:  We need news organizations to do this nationwide.

NYT:  Republicans would love to keep women barefoot and pregnant with no rights at all.

    Thank you TomCat.

  8. Thanks and hurried hugs! 26
