This is both WWWendy day and Infernal Revenue Day.  Please pass the Vaseline.  Therefore, this is today’s only article.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 4:45).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (SNL Channel): Donald Trump Baltic States Cold Open

I still think Baldwin does Trump better than Trump. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Inequality Media Channel): 5 Points to Counter the NRA

Republican Ammosexuals won’t listen to the Reich on the left, but we care what everybody else thinks. RESIST!!

From NY Times: As ethical questions threaten the Environmental Protection Agency administrator, Scott Pruitt, President Trump has defended him with a persuasive conservative argument: Mr. Pruitt is doing a great job at what he was hired to do, roll back regulations.

But legal experts and White House officials say that in Mr. Pruitt’s haste to undo government rules and in his eagerness to hold high-profile political events promoting his agenda, he has often been less than rigorous in following important procedures, leading to poorly crafted legal efforts that risk being struck down in court.

The result, they say, is that the rollbacks, intended to fulfill one of the president’s central campaign pledges, may ultimately be undercut or reversed.

“In their rush to get things done, they’re failing to dot their i’s and cross their t’s. And they’re starting to stumble over a lot of trip wires,” said Richard Lazarus, a professor of environmental law at Harvard. “They’re producing a lot of short, poorly crafted rulemakings that are not likely to hold up in court.”

Good! We need all the help we can get! RESIST!!

  1. You have to give Pew-it credit – he is doing a good job of doing what tRump wanted him to do.

    Rise up, RESIST, PERSIST, INSIST!!!

  2. SNL: “I don’t care about America, ‘4 year Cash Grab”, so spot on about Putin’s Puta.

    IMC: Excellent points!!!

NYT: Anything they do is lame, get them all out!!!

    Cartoon: Yea, they’d love that!!

HI, WWWendy!! Hope you get your taxes done…enjoy your day! Thanks, Tom.

  3. 4:24, and surprised to be under average at all. I guess I’m not the only one who thought the plain blue pieces would never end.

    Tyrone Williams. Remember that name.

SNL – I wish Baldwin were President, just not in character. He ain’t perfect, but he’s far superior to Trump. Of course that’s true of pretty well anyone.

NRA – Yeah, well, the Second Amendment was written to make sure Southern states could keep their slave patrols. That probably would not seem to anyone in the NRA like a bad thing, though. Robert, the people who buy the NRA talking points are the same people who live in a world of alternate facts and will not listen to anyone. If we have to convince the NRA of anything in order to get rational gun control, we are doomed.

NYT – We have failed to rebrand “regulations” as “protections,” though that is what they are and that is why they are needed. But I think we should keep trying.

Cartoon – Indeed. Now we need to GOTV, since way too many states have the Senators they would have gotten without the 17th.

  4. Well, well, well y’all. My husband is home from the the hospital and nursing home! I had a rough three months and have been in and out as of late. Just to let ya know, TC, that he is home and doing well! Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts. I have finally got all my self under one roof!
Glad to see the page is keeping up the pressure on Drumpfenfarten!!!! He is a bad piece of work, to say the least!!! Here’s hoping we can remove this damn spot from the American landscape ASAP!!
Take care, TC. I’m still trying to get used to the routine that my old man has now. And ALL the meds he has now!
Peace and love to ALL the Politics Plus crew!!

    • Vivian, it’s great to hear that your hubby is home and perking along!  We’ve missed you but know you have had a lot on your plate.  Please take care of you too, not just hubby!  Welcome home!!!

    • Such wonderful news, Vivian. I hope you and your husband settle into the new routines fast and he continues on his road to recovery faster than ever before. Care-taking will be different from now on, so make sure you take very good care of yourself too. So, welcome back, Vivian!

    • Yay!  I second Lona and Lynn’s advice.

    • Welcome home, Viv.  Please give him my best.  Amen to Lona! 35

  5. Puzzle — 4:08  I’m really blue today!

Inequality Media — AMEN!!!  The NRA has far too much influence and has bought Republican politicians and will continue to do so.  The NRA is a prime example of the corrupting influence of money in politics.

NY Times — This story has been on the news here all day today.  Everything from corruption, to excessive spending of the taxpayers’ dime, to Drumpf’s tweets in support of Pruitt. I hope some of Pruitt’s new rules etc come back to bite him in the ass!

Cartoon — Republicans would just as soon cut We the People completely out of the electoral process, not just in the Senate.  A fascist state Republican style.

On the 4th, I said I would share the MLK Jr quote that we have on our church sign.  Here it is:

““No one really knows why they are alive until they know what they’d die for.”

― Martin Luther King Jr. “

I find this statement to be incredibly thought provoking and powerful.

  6. SNL: Alec Baldwin did another great job as, and on, Drumpf. “OMG, this isn’t going to be a full work day”, sums it up so nicely for a guy who “really doesn’t care about America”. Baldwin asking if anyone else saw this rabbit had me ROTFLMAO.

IM: Excellent video with strong message. “America is better than the NRA”. But the NRA’s influence on politics shouldn’t be so enormous that America needs to be convinced of that.

NYT: Two weeks ago in one of Bull Maher’s videos, Pruitt’s predecessor at the EPA Gina McCarthy, said of Pruitt that he didn’t know what he was doing, and in a way she was glad of it because he couldn’t get any of his cases through the courts because they were all shoddy work. The NYT now says exactly the same, the only one who doesn’t want to see it is Drumpf. Drumpf may have ulterior motives for keeping Pruitt on: Pruitt may have something damning on Drumpf, or Drumpf wants him on another job after he’s fired some more people.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt, the conservative former attorney general of Oklahoma, is interested in replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions if that job becomes available, sources with knowledge of the matter said on Friday. January 5, 2018

Of course Republicans have to endorse Pruitt’s nomination for any other cabinet post, but when have they ever not endorsed a Drumpf favorite.

Hope you got your taxes done, TomCat, and you’re not the worse for it.

  7. Thanks all.  Very Tired Hugs! 19
