In breaking news, several sources inside the Mueller investigation have revealed that Mueller is probing into Trump’s prior knowledge of and involvement in the release of the DNC emails.  The noose tightens.  I don’t know why, but I had insomnia last night and slept poorly.  Since this is such a busy day, this is my only article, and I’ll send no links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:41 (average 5:49).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Jared Kushner Eyed Over Foreign Contacts, Vulnerability To Manipulation

In any other White House, this would be the biggest scandal in history. But in today’s Republican Reich, it’s just one of the daily dozen. RESIST!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Paul Ryan: ‘We shouldn’t ban guns for law-abiding citizens’

Barf Bag Alert!!

Republicans always use this "law abiding citizens" BS, coupled with the claim that we need to keep guns out of just the wrong hands. I can prove that they are lying. If that’s what they wanted, they wouldn’t keep refusing to close the gun show loophole. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: In a moment of high drama at the White House on Tuesday morning, Donald J. Trump dove under his desk after a can of Diet Coke opened with an unexpectedly loud sound.

Moments earlier, Trump had pressed a button on his desk, summoning Vice-President Mike Pence to the Oval Office to serve him the frosty beverage.

According to one aide, when Pence opened the can, it made “an unusually loud noise,” sending Trump ducking under his desk in a millisecond.

At a news conference, minutes later, the press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, attempted to tamp down speculation that Trump had acted in a cowardly manner during the Diet Coke incident. “The President prudently repositioned himself under his desk in an aggressive crouch,” she said. “He was ready for anything.”

Pence agreed with her assessment. “The President was putting himself in a position where, if need be, he could defend the entire country against an attack,” he said. “I, for one, am honored to serve a man of such valor.”

Dang Andy! Isn’t it miraculous that Donny Dump-in-Pants couldn’t find his nuclear button with his tiny hands? RESIST!!

  1. MSNBC: So, does Jaded get his own jail cell, or does he have to share one with his father-in-law…or would that be considered “cruel and unusual punishment”?  What farce this is all turning out to be, a tragic, one, but a farce, nonetheless.  THIS is what you get when you elect TV, or movie actors to really important posts!!
CNN: If Paul Ryan lips are moving, he is passing gas!
New Yorker: “Aggressive crouch…with his head up his posteriority?
    ‘Toon: Boy, talk about devolution!

  2. 5:37 Seeing as it’s metal, I see all sorts of potential hazards.

Trae is up again, and explains, among other things, why it’s been a while.

MSNBC – Poor Rachel! She is having trouble keeping up with it all – well, of course we are too. Yesterday she had so many stories breaking one after the other, any one of which would “normally” be a bombshell, that she compared it to a “pu pu platter” (although most commenting said the was probably misspelling that.)

CNN – “Law abiding.” ONE story.

TNY – Now, THIS is believable. What exactly is it called when satire is more believable than the White House’s official statements?

    Cartoon – Yup.

  3. MSNBC: Seems the news is consistent with the goings on in the WH. Glad they lost their clearances, they shouldn’t have ever had access to classified information, downgraded to ‘secret’. Nepotism at it’s finest.

BBA: The spilled blood from these children is on your hands, Ryan. Not that you care, heartless Basturd!
Repugs – Stop supporting the NRA!!!

Meanwhile in GA, 2 weeks after the SDHS shootings: Georgia teacher in custody after police say he fired a gun in empty classroom (no one was injured, thankfully!)https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2018/02/28/georgia-teacher-custody-after-police-say-he-fired-shot-empty-classroom/381955002/

NYer: This is hilarious. Our very brave and sniveling president.
    Cartoon: Very sad.

Hope you have restful evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.
*Joanne: Thanks for my dose of Trae. Spot on!!

  4. The irony could NOT be any greater – nor the Karma any bitchier – if it turns out that the DNC/Hillary’s hacked emails are what actually brings down Twitler.

(BTW – anyone know what the German word for “Schadenfreude” is?)

  5. YT: I have no problem with stable, law-abiding people owning guns. However, we do need to take reasonable measures to keep them out of the hands of psychos and lawbreakers. No measure will be perfect, but we can at least make it harder for people with dodgy backgrounds to buy firearms. And there’s no reason whatsoever for a citizen to own an assault rifle!

TNY: More Onion than New Yorker, but the line between truth and satire is awfully fuzzy these days.

Cartoon: That’s for sure! I would not be the least bit surprised if, were Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and even Dwight Eisenhower alive today, they would be Democrats.

    • Eisenhower was actually asked to run by both parties.  I don’t know why he chose the Republicans, but, in hindsight, I’m glad he did.  If he had run as a Democrat and lost, I don’t know who we would have ended up with, but I still find it unnerving.

  6. Howdy, TC. I’ve been way out of the loop lately .Things are starting to look up. Don’t know for how long. Probably as long as it takes for an infection to start back up, which isn’t long. But things have been improving, ever so slowly. Nearly two months since this all started. Hard to believe that it’s been that long. And so much has happened in that time! Jeez, Louise! I’m betting there will be a mass resignation at the WH soon! And Javonka will be right in the middle of it! Ivonka can’t get her clearance made either! What will Drumpfenfarten do if Kelly tries to get rid of his “lovely” daughter? Think that will cause the Apple cart to topple? Never know with this crazy bunch of loons! Well, we’ll just have to wait and see what crawls out from under the counter! Should be several “Day in the Life of” books come out of this lovely bunch of coconuts!!!
Have a great week, TC! ❤

  7. Rachel Maddow: Why is this such a surprise? It’s about the only thing Drumpf has been upfront about right from the start: he only cares about his Drumpf (family) empire and both his campaign and “presidency” were, and still are, a way to make bigger deals and more profit. He never gave you the tax-returns, never severed the ties to all his businesses and gave all his family and friends jobs in the government so they could use the position to further Drumpf’s and their own businesses.
Did anyone really expect any of them to care about national security? That’s just a hindrance when talking to Russian or Chinese officials, so you ignore protocol and talk with them alone. That way you’re not bothered with briefings and having to pretend you’re talking politics while the only interest you have in these meetings with foreign powers is peddling your own franchise, making billion dollar deals and turning American (foreign) politics into a laugh.
And Republican dominated Congress stood by, watched and let it all happen. And will continue to do so until they’re “dismissed” by the voters, who’ll not stay at home at the midterm elections as they are wont to do, but by voting Republicans out of office show that at least they care about their country.

CNN: Stephen Paddock, the gunman who killed 58 people in Las Vegas with a number (14) of semi-automatic riffles, was a very law-abiding citizen, with the exception of a few traffic citations. Paddock had stockpiled an arsenal of weapons over time, all of them legally purchased in Nevada, California, Texas, and Utah. Need I say more, Mr. NRA-mouthpiece Ryan?

TNY: ??? Can’t wait for a cartoonist’s interpretation of Drumpf’s “aggressive crouch” under his desk, “where, if need be, he could defend the entire country against an attack” with ‘butler’ Pence next to the desk serving him his Coke.

Cartoon: Wouldn’t it be nice to see 2020 as an end-date after 1854 in Wikipedia? I know, I know, you’d love to see 2018 there, TomCat, but we have to stay realistic here ?

  8. Thanks all.  Swamped Hugs! 26

  9. Puzzle — 4:44 This sasquatch could not quite measure up!  If you’re running low on iron, eating this won’t help.  It may make your dentist happy but your wallet very sad!

MSNBC — I wonder if these revelations are the kind of things, the “outside the Washington box”, that the Drumpf supporters envisioned when they voted Drumpf into the WH.  Make America safe again???  It might be a “soft war” for now, a war of influence and manipulation, but it can all too easily progress to a cold war and then an outright hot war.  The Drumpf family mafia is way in over their heads.  Rachel did an excellent job!

CNN — I wonder how Ryan would explain away Drumpf signing a bill back in Feb 2017 that made it easier to obtain guns.  This from USA Today:

“President Trump killed a regulation that would have tightened gun background checks Tuesday, signing a bill to undo one of his predecessor’s executive actions following the San Bernardino shootings in 2015.

The Obama administration rule required the Social Security Administration to submit records of mentally disabled people to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, the FBI database used to determine whether someone can buy a firearm under the 1993 Brady Bill.”

This is total BS!!!  Ryan is so full of shit that his eyes are dark brown!!!

The New Yorker — I doubt I will be able to drink diet Coke again!  I’m more afraid that Drumpf might use that overly large nuclear button under his desk when he gets into that “aggressive crouch”!

Cartoon — Today’s Republican Party is despicable!  Just don’t hold your breath for the founding of the party to be undone anytime soon!
