Feb 022018

Compared to December, January results were down in every category.  I don’t have an explanation.

The comparison with last January reveals that, unlike last month, we are up across the board.  However, last year was pathetic.

Here is our ClustrMap for 2018 YTD.  If it seems sparse, remember that this is only one month’s traffic.

ClustrMap01-2018

ClustrMap misses a lot of visits, because many visits can’t be easily traced to a location.

Here are our top five articles:

Poll Results – 1/2/2018 1/2/2018 3,082
Bill Maher from 1/19 1/20/2018 613
Personal Update – 1/1/2018 1/1/2018 403
Filibuster Reform on Day One! 11/27/2012 380
Open Thread – 1/3/2017 1/3/2017 363

The count represents only the people who followed an external link to that specific article.  Three were from January.   I wrote than all.  I am surprised with which articles made it.

Here are our top non-blog/news referrers (100 referral minimum):

Google 2,032
Care2  1,880
Stumbleupon 417

Google is slight down from December.   Care2 and Stumbleupon are down.

Here are our top  blog/news referrers:

http://bildungblog.blogspot.com/
http://globalglassonion.blogspot.com

We had 3 sites  with 2 or more referrals, down 3 from January.  Putting blogs’ links here increases the ratings of their sites, so this “linkey love” is our thank you for their referral support.  We need to improve this.  Perhaps I need to start visiting our blog roll, which is terribly out of date.

As of midnight February 1, we had 7,962 articles and 95,644 comments.

Nobody earned a Big Mouth Award in January.

I recommend using your own avatar. Go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use as your avatar.  Whenever you comment under that email address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that image will become your avatar.

Your Administrators are Lynn Squance, aka Sasquatch or Squatch, SoINeedAName, aka Nameless, and I, aka TomCat, the Founder.  Your Editors are Joanne Dixon, aka JD the Erynator and Lona Goudswaard, aka Lona the Napster.  I  promoted them from Author last August to give them the ability to add graphics to comments and the ability to correct my innumerable typos.

This is our policy on links.  We do not embed links to extreme Republican websites, like Faux Noise, Breitfart or World Nut Daily.  However I leave notes in square brackets when I delete such links, (example: [faux noise delinked]) so readers, who wish to follow them can click through to the source article.  I also remove topical links.  Finally, I blank the target on all links, so they open in a new tab or window.

Thank you for all you do, everywhere you do it.

2018 has arrived.  It’s a busy political time, and we’re not getting the traffic that should engender.  Please spread PP links around, when you get the opportunity.

RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

  1. I notice that two of the articles from this January and the one from last January are right around New Year’s Day.  People who work get time off, and may be catching up on things they have missed through being short of time.  11/27/2012 was close to Thanksgiving too.  But who knows?  (Whoever was teaching that course on Jane Smiley must have retired, though.)  I do spread links when I can.

  2. I can’t think of an explanation either, except the extremely implausible ones that you’ve either been hacked or some data was lost on the way. I have lately noticed the departure of many of our friends from Care2, but I can’t imagine why this would peak in January.

Let’s all hope that this doesn’t set the trend for 2018. Having to survive Drumpf is bad enough, having to do so without a strong group of like-minded people around  is nearly impossible.

  3. Thanks to all three of you.
