More Support for Republicans

Many on the left, especially Bernie supporters, and seeing heavy interest from new voters and drawing confidence that those new voters will propel us to an easy victory in November,  Because that’s how Obama won, that seems a reasonable assumption, but we should take care.  The Republican Party is also getting more support from new voters.

A new study reports that the number of hate groups in the United States grew in 2015 for the first time in three years, with extremist organizations exploiting ongoing tensions around race, religion, and ideology to recruit a small horde of new followers.

An investigation released Wednesday from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) chronicles the rise of American extremist groups in 2015, reporting that the number of hate groups increased 14 percent compared to 2014.

“2015 was a year that very nearly approaches the political upheavals of 1968,” Mark Potok, SPLC senior fellow and author of the report, told reporters on a press call Wednesday morning. “An enormous amount of hatred has been absorbed in the political mainstream.”

Potok attributed much of the growth of such groups to the uptick in hateful, xenophobic, and often anti-Muslim rhetoric spouted by presidential candidates such as Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, the latter of which has proposed a ban on all Muslim immigration into the United States in response to terrorist attacks in Paris by ISIS… [emphasis added]

  1. Another very important article!  Thank you so much!

  2. IF you are old enough to VOTE, it is in your best interest, for the rest of your LIFE, to REGISTER to VOTE in the next election!!! And if you want to have a life that is enjoyable and have the rights that are prescribed in the Constitution, you might just want to vote BLUE, because the SCOTUS is going to change a LOT in the next few years. The next President is going to appoint their replacements and you WILL want them to be, at the very least, centrist in their rulings! They say what laws are going to be enforced and which ones that are going to be set aside. That has a lot to do with rights and freedoms we take for granted right now!!!

With all the "hate groups" and faux militia that have sprung up lately, they are registering in droves, or are already registered. They will try to change laws that have been in effect for decades to further their causes. If you don't want to live in a country that is run by religious zealots and have the whole country changed to a government looking more like the Middle Eastern governments, REGISTER TO VOTE and VOTE BLUE!!!

  3. a very important article and must read in my opinion, thanks and very sad to hear this about the country we are supposed to be,and many claim we are……

  4. YAY! I voted early, carpooled w/some friends to the courthouse on Tuesday.
FYI:If anyone has trouble standing or walking, they also provide ''Curbside Voting''. Call ahead, or notify the official at the time of arrival. ''The election official will then bring your ballot to your car outside the polling location.'' I believe most states do this courtesy.

    Will remind others to vote.

    Thanks, Tom.

  5. And now… the Hairy Rump is exploding against the Pope!

If Trump, and Cruz, are bringing the haters out of the closet, the parallel to Hitler is even more meaningful!

  6. How sad what we've become. Or maybe it's been there all along just under the surface. I just don't understand how people can live with hatred in their hearts. It must hurt.

My husband and I early voted today. I always let him go ahead of me because he is black and I want to be there to witness in case there is any funny business. As always, it went smoothly. When we got home I mentioned that I had heard that the people behind me were republicans. He said that the people ahead of us also declared themselves to be republican. Not good but I guess that's who we live amongst here in central Texas.

I also blame faux news. They are destroying this country.

  7. Glad SPLC is keeping us informed!

  8. The Republicans have been spewing hatred since Obama won his first term and that gives those who might have hidden or kept under control their hatred and spite, a license to let it all out.  This is not good for any of us.  We need to vote and get as many people as we can to vote also.

  9. "Potok attributed much of the growth of such groups to the uptick in hateful, xenophobic, and often anti-Muslim rhetoric spouted by presidential candidates such as Ted Cruz and Donald Trump []". So it's not just us who remarked on this, now the pundits give us a lot of research results which support these remarks. One thing which isn't yet clear is if the people who join these hategroups are indeed new voters. It may be that they're just coming out of the closet because Trump and Cruz have made hate, xenophobia and Islamophobia fashionable and they may have voted Republican all along. But to be on the safe side we best think of them as new voters and urge more people to become new voters for the Democrats, i.e. Bernie  too.

  10. Thanks all!  Hugs!  Sick!
