Almost every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, they push the envelope on just how unhinged InsaniTEA can become.  I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.

Louie Gohmert has a completely bizarre explanation for Bernie Sanders’ rise.

GohmertHatTexas representative and history scholar Louie Gohmert is still really upset about the ’60s. It’s quite possible that he, like David Brooks, will never really get over the decade.

This week, on a radio show in Florida, Gohmert blamed the ’60s for the rise of Senator Bernie Sanders in his bid for president. While his host, a wingnut named Joyce Kaufman, claimed Sanders was “reading from the Communist manifesto” in this week’s debate, Gohmert preferred to lament the influence of hippies.

Hippies, you see, have had undue influence on our education system.

“That’s also because we let some of the hippies from the ‘60s who created such chaos then start teaching the teachers,” Gohmert said, “and teaching them how great socialism is and just rewriting history and keeping them from realizing socialism has never worked, it will never work in this world, in this life, because if you’re going to pay everybody the same thing then they’re going to quit working.”

There’s every indication that Gohmert, a rabid anti-immigration Tea Partier, really does believe the nonsense he spews. He finished by saying that the survival of the country “is hanging in the balance” in this year’s presidential election.

On that, we agree.

I think that Go-Go Goosestep has mixed some InsaniTEA in his Whacky Tobacky and smoked it.  This is only the fourth of five unhinged Republican moments listed for last week alone.  Click through for the other four.

  1. 1.  Nugent and Cruz – they deserve each other.

    2.  Well, maybe he actually is a robot.

    3.  Oh, my stars and garters.  You just have to feel sorry for people who hate themselves so much.  Which doesn't, of course mean, that you don't have to fight what they are saying.

    4.  Hippies.  Right.

    5.  Well, Ted is, as Heidi puts it, showing the "face of God we serve."  And that would be Lucifer.  A very ugly face indeed.

  2. Ted & Ted: In the same bed.

Crystal Wright. I'll remember her name, and her one second of fame. Ugh!!

Louie Gohmert: The hat is very becoming on his head! LOL.

Sorry for the poor poetry. 😉

  3. Rohnert can go suck a pickle!!! I'm a hippy, through and through!! And I take offense at him downgrading such a wonderful and living bunch of people!!!

  4. There you go again.

Just like Attorney General Eric Holder did, you're "casting aspersions on Louie Gohmert's asparagus!"

[NOTE: Louie Gohmert is the perfect example of the toxic effect from ingesting lead!]

  5. Gohmert needs to go suck on some of those hippies' magic mushrooms and peyote buttons, perhaps that will get him out of his personal rabbithole!  BUT, his imbecilic comment about the Communist Manifesto is exactly the kind of thing about which I have voiced concern, should Bernie get the nomination: That the GOPIGS will plaster the country with BS about his being a Commie!  And, that the sheeple will buy it!

Alternet: So, Huckashit "Knows" that Dr. Ben is a good Christian?  Do Huckabee's "good" Christians go around making up stories about their lives for public consumption, putting out other BS, insulting the public's intelligence?  But, you know, maybe it's not the public's intelligence, just that of the idiots on the right who would even bother to pay any serious attention to what a fool like him spews…in which case, he's not insulting their intelligence, but speaking directly to it.

Heidi Cruz: What, can you picture her as 1st Lady?  OMG, my 'puter is going into shock!  I take it back, honest!!

  6. Me…the unhinged label just makes me want to grab my WD40…

  7. I clicked through and now I need a Tums.  Do you think Ted Cruz has any idea how much he is detested by his own people?  Being dumb enough to be proud of an endorsement from Ted Nugent would be enough for me not to vote for him, even if there were not dozens of other reasons. Gohmert can't stop himself, he has to show his inane, bigoted self every time he opens his mouth.  Ben Carson may think he is a Christian, may deluded people do, but few of them seem to understand what "Christ like" means.

  8. Republicans = unhinged!

And just when I was thinking we had not heard from Goh-merde in some time, who should appear but the shiny hatted Goh-merde himself!. . . nuts as ever having drunk his fill of insaniTEA!

  9. The Teddies: Previously Cruz has welcomed the endorsement of Mike Bickle, (God sent Hitler to kill the Jews) and Kevin Swanson (gay people should be executed) and now has embraced Ted Nugent (Jews supporting gun safety laws = punks = Nazis in disguise). Yup, real presidential material, that Cruz.

Rubiobot: His autocue must have failed, again.

Conservative Black Chick: It's all scripted, all show, and a very bad one at that, all put on so no one can say Faux News isn't inviting minority guests. There's no one on the other end listening.

Gohmert: It has been a while since Louis Gohmert had a chance to speak his mind in public, and haven't I read somewhere he could lose his seat sometime soon?… Enough said.

Huckabee: Why is this man still in the news? So what if he dislikes Cruz too, everyone else does; that's not newsworthy, is it.

  10. Thanks all.  Hugs!!  More are surely coming soiin.
