Spring sprang, and I didn’t notice. Since it’s been a little over a week, I exchanged messages with my doctor yesterday.  The seasonal grunge has a life-span of about three weeks.  Because of the severity of my COPD, I tend to get double the norm.  She says that I’m doing the right things and wants to see me in April, unless I get worse in the interim.  To you, I may seem worse than I have in the past, because I used to keep going instead of taking care of myself.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:09 (average 5:00).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. 5:00 average up to 5:40.  Must be the original red sails in the sunset?

I'm glad you are taking care of yourself, please continue to do so.  This is not to be trifled with.  We want you for the long term.

Cartoon – One long march indeed.  It's not finished even now.

  2. 4:04  I lost the wind.

  3. P.S. very important new editorial from Paul Krugman today

No new information, just very forcefully stated, and drawing a ton of attention.  TC, you may want to hild it till you are better.  Heaven knows it is not going away, more's the pity.

    • Thanks, Joanne, I read it and shared it on Facebook.

    • Krugman is always a good read, but an even better dose of truth!

I remember watching a series TV programme several years ago where some of the inhabitants of a world were cast out into the woods because they had been infected with some "plague" and were reduced to their primitive selves.  It seems that the Republicanus/Teabaggerum have been infected with gross fraudsterism and stupidity which they are transmitting to the sheeple.  Could we dump them in the woods until they find a cure for what ails them?  On the TV programme, all the people needed was a great dose of anti-histamines. I think it will have to be stronger than anti-histamines to affect the Republicanus/Teabaggerum!

  4. Much relieved to hear that you touched base w/ your doc – and that things are at least stable and progressing as anticipated.

It took me a bit before learning that many of my patients w/ chronic illnesses really got to know what their typical course would be during a flare-up.  (But they weren't ALWAYS right – some of them were just stubborn.)

One of Sir William Osler's (the "Father of Modern Medicine") most famous quotes is

"Listen, Listen, LISTEN to the patient – he's telling you the diagnosis."

  5. On March 21, 1965, civil rights demonstrators led by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. began their third, successful march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.

Update on the White House Petition-

  6. Glad you and your doctor are on the same page now, yet sorry recovery not as quick as you'd prefer.

The march stretches from Selma thru NYC, Ferguson, Oakland….and we still need to sing "We Shall Overcome."

  7. Puzzle — 3:05  When I looked at the picture I thought I was sunk!  But so far, I'm not sunk.  Will Patty sink me?

Cartoon — A few quotes from MLK Jr.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word."

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

"History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people."

And here's a little kitty exercise régime http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/03/19/funny-cat-videos_n_6903532.html

When I lived up north, likely really north, I used to see the Aurora Borealis on a regular basis, and they are spectacular.  How about these from Northern Québec in an area that is further north than where I lived.

    • Thanks for the links, Lynn.  The cats were great, but the Northern lights were gorgeous.  I have never been fortunate enough to actually see them.

  8. I am glad you are taking care of yourself, you should!

The march on Selma may need to be done again in many areas.  It seems that racism is worse now than it has been in years.

  9. I am VERY glad that you are now taking care of yourself TC – and I will try and follow your example!

  10. Thanksa everyone.  Great links.  I slept poorly last night because of neighborhood noise.
