Today is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, and I have a month’s groceries being delivered, which I shall have to unpack and put away.  I’m current with replies.  The rest of the week is completely up in the air, because Monday is a medical day, Tuesday and Thursday are prison volunteer days, and Wednesday and Friday are recovery days.  Expect little more than Open Threads and Personal Updates.  I will try to get debate coverage up on Tuesday before I leave.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:50 (average 5:01).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: Watch Anderson Cooper Destroy The Romney/Ryan ‘6 Studies’ Tax Plan Myth In 4 Minutes

There is no way Willard’s numbers add up without making the middle class pay more. That is the conclusion of the only non partisan study done on this. The ones Lord Willard and Lyin’ Ryan point to are just partisan propaganda based on assumptions with no evidentiary basis.

From Boston Herald: A family spokesman says former U.S. Sen. George McGovern, the Democrat who lost to President Richard Nixon in 1972 in a historic landslide, has died at the age of 90.

There are few, if any politicians in my lifetime more compassionate and ethical than he was. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.

From Crooks and Liars: Susie Sampson sets out this week, reporting from Tea Party land, to put together a binder full of women for Mitt Romney. But she has trouble finding takers. See, that’s the problem if you decide to have women in the workforce!

Women who support Lord Willard and Lyin’ Ryan must have been wearing blinders, while being put in binders.

  1. 3:34 Am I blessed on this Sunday?

    • 4:18  As far as I'm concerned, you are blessed.  I think I am headed in the "other direction".

    • 3:33  Move over oh Blessed One!  Considering I feel more like I'm under the church yard, as in 6 feet under, I am truly amazed.  I swear, between every joint in my body hurting like hell, and a headache that won't quit,  I'm amazed I could hold the mouse and see the pieces.

  2. MoveOn ~ Conservative bloggers are the experts in Rmoney's studies.
Tom, you are a blogger, but at least you do  research and admit if you are wrong. These guys wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the ass.

Boston Herald ~ I was first able to vote for President of U.S.A. in 1972 and I proudly cast my vote for George McGovern.

                                   RIP Kind Sir

Crooks and Liars ~I'd like to send him a binder but it wouldn't be full of women.

Cartoon ~ He has lying in English down already. I can't wait to hear him lie in the other 5.

  3. Out nation will miss having George McGovern among us.  He embodied the aphorism: "It's not always easy to do the right thing – nor is it always right to do the easy thing."

I saw a good comment by kaneblues at Talking Points Memo WRT Pres. Obama's clear superiority when it comes to Foreign Policy matters:

    Bin Laden is dead
    The Iraq war is over
    Al-Qaeda leadership has been eviscerated
    Gaddafi is dead
    Prevented a massacre in Libya
    Mubarak is gone
Afghanistan war is moving to a close
Iran is facing unprecedented economic sanctions that have devastated their economy
    New START treaty in place
Free-trade agreements with Korea, Colombia, and Panama
    Strengthened relationships in Latin America
    Restored relationships with our allies
Led an international effort to ensure the emergence of an independent South Sudan
Mobilized resources and manpower to aid in relief efforts in Haiti, Japan, Pakistan, South Sudan, and elsewhere
Kept the country safe from another 9/11 level attack

… So Romney – which of THOSE do you oppose?

  4. Puzzle — 3:33 from deep within the church yard!

MoveOn — There's that voo doo math to go along with his voo doo economics!  Is Rmoney a witch doctor and going to cast a spell on everyone to get them to believe his math?

Boston Herald — Strange, about a month ago I googled 'George McGovern' wondering what he was up to and was amazed at how old he was.  I guess we lose track of time.  Anyway, this from Wikipedia today:

On the morning of October 21, 2012, McGovern died at age 90 at the Sioux Falls hospice, surrounded by family and lifelong friends. The family released this statement: "We are blessed to know that our father lived a long, successful and productive life advocating for the hungry, being a progressive voice for millions and fighting for peace. He continued giving speeches, writing and advising all the way up to and past his 90th birthday, which he celebrated this summer."

Crooks and Liars — That Suzie is the biggest "dip shit" ever and I cringe just thinking of her voice.  Any woman who agrees to be put in a binder or vote for Romney, has absolutely no self respect and no brains!

Cartoon — I remember hearing just a while back Romney saying that he didn't have any foreign relations experience and saying that's why he has advisers.  I hate to remind him but even if he doesn't have experience, he CAN NOT delegate the decisions to an adviser and then abdicate responsibility for any decisions.  And his trip this past summer overseas was ample evidence that the fool had no experience.  He has NO common sense either!

  5. Romney/Ryan will be worse for this country than Bush/Cheney, and I never thought I would say that about anyone!

  6. Thanks everyone.  Amen to all!
