I think I’m back in the saddle, as I have a full slate of articles today, and haven’t felt like I’m draining myself to accomplish that.  We’ll see after everything is written, posted and publicized, and after I return from a perishables run.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow appears routine.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:43 (average 4:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: Bernie’s No-Bullsh_t Defense Of Social Security That’s All Over Facebook

That must be why Republicans want so desperately to destroy it.

From NY Times: A Florida judge on Friday revoked the bond of George Zimmerman, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, after state prosecutors argued that Mr. Zimmerman, with the help of his wife, had misled the court about his finances.

He also lied about having a backup passport that he could have used to flee the country.

From WCVB: Massachusetts Democrats are gathering for their party’s state convention in Springfield, where delegates will weigh in on the U.S. Senate race.

Harvard Law School professor Elizabeth Warren is expected to easily win the party’s endorsement at Saturday’s gathering. But Marisa DeFranco, an immigration attorney from Middleton, would also qualify for the September primary ballot by picking up the support of at least 15 percent of the delegates.

With no offence to Marisa DeFranco, I hope she fails so that Elizabeth can focus on Bagger Brown.

  1. Love me some Bernie! The reason the GOP-baggers wanna destroy it is because they cannot stand to see a government fund with 2+ trillion in it and it NOT be in THEIR pockets. They cannot stand the mere IDEA of Governemnt actually succeeding at doing something FOR THE PEOPLE. It’s just too damn “Socialistic” for them to wrap their friggin heads around.

  2. 3:47  Not quite fast enough!  At least both of us are under one minute less than the average.

Republicans don’t really want to destroy SS.  Notice that they do not talk about reducing or eliminating the payroll tax.  They just want to redirect that large sum of money from the government to their financial bosses.

    • Damn close!

Under their policies, government will spend more and the deficit will grow, but the spending will be welfare for the 1%.

  3. MoveOn — Social Security makes such a difference to quality of life for so many seniors and others.  It is probably part of the reason why life expectancy has gone up, instead of down.  I find it interesting to listen to the Republican/Teabaggers talking about ‘entitlements’.  They accuse people who rely on SS, Medicare and Medicaid of seeing themselves entitled to SS etc.  But I would argue that the Republican/Teabaggers see these social services as entitlements too.  They are entitled to have that cash in their pockets! — pockets that don’t need cash but rather a whole lot of compassioin.  The Republican/Teabaggers really need to get over their sense of entitlement!

Trayvon Martin — I heard about this on the news last night — an undisclosed second passport and $150,000 raised through a legal defence website.  How would Zimmerman obtain 2 valid passports?  And who would contribute to his legal defence fund except bigots?  Wouldn’t it be nice to know who these people are.  Nice company he keeps!  The judge was right to take him back into custody.  This whole case needs to get into the courts as soon as possible.

Massachusetts Democrats — Go Elizabeth Warren!!!!!

Cartoon — Great cartoon!  I really hate these omnibus bills that link everything including the kitchen sink into one bill.  Canada’s Harper has a “budget” bill (it literally has everything in it including government pension reforms, employment insurance etc) that is so large that it cannot be debated satisfactorily — either 400 or 4,000 pages (I can’t remember which but probably the latter) — not to mention they want to limit debate, and in addition, Harper and his harlots have a majority so passage is almost guaranteed.  I really do think that the rules of government administration need to be reformed in bothe Canada and the US!

    • Exactly.  We all have paid in our entire working lives for our benefits.  Regardless of what Republicans want you to thing, Social Security is anything but welfare.,

He “lost” his passport four years ago and had it replaced twp years ago.  Recently he just “found” the old one.

Th Republicans, Zimmerman is a hero.  That is where the money comes from.

      Amen!

I agree.  And, every time Republicans say they are concentration on jobs, every bill they pass out of the House concentrates on attacking women’s rights.

  4. 3:35 Just beat you both by a hair.

RepublicanTs don’t want any safety nets to exist for the working class. They figure taht when someone can’t work anymore, their usefulness tosociety has expired.

Zimmerman’s and his wife’s credibility has been destroyed, due only to their own lying.

    Go Elizabeth Warren!

The RepublicanTs do NOT care about any jobs other than their own.
