Because, of all the criticism Republicans have leveled at Barack Obama for taking credit due for killing Osama bin Laden, I have been looking for a definitive mash-up that compares what Republicans are saying now with what those exact same Republicans were saying earlier.  I found it.

6Mission-Accomplished

President Obama was criticized this week for “politicizing” the killing of Osama bin Laden in a campaign ad that stated that, had he been president, Mitt Romney would not have made the same call.

Republicans immediately fired back, reminding everyone that it was the Navy SEALs who carried out the raid and for the president to make any claim to success was, unfortunate, appalling and shameless “spiking the football.”

If this didn’t strike you as odd, you may have been born in 2009…

Here’s the video:

As I see it, the difference is that Republicans failed, and then they relentlessly politicized the lie that they had succeeded.

  1. Almost laughable isnt it ?

  2. Bush Lied – Thousands Died
Obama Led – bin Laden’s Dead

What I want to know is which exact policy do Repubicans want to use to give credit to Bush for killing bin Laden?

Maybe it’s the “Let’s Invade Iraq – a Nation with NO Connection to Al Qaeda Policy”.  Or the “I Really Just Don’t Spend That Much Time Worrying about Osama bin Laden Policy”.  Or Bush’s codpiece-wearing flight-suit “Mission Accomplished Policy”.  Or maybe they mean the “Let’s Violate Geneva Conventions and Torture People Policy”.

Bottom Line: Pres. Obama was NOT responsible for the shooting of Osama bin Laden … in exactly the same way that bin Laden was NOT responsible for flying the planes on 9/11.

PS: Just to arm yourself, Mother Jones has a post covering “The 9 Worst Lies Right-Wingers Tell About the Bin Laden Raid”

  3. How about Dead-eye Cheney telling voters that if they elected John Kerry as president, Al Queda would attack the USA again? If that wasn’t politicizing terrorism, I don’t know what is.

    • Projection is the Republicans’ favorite tactic, behind lying.

    • I think that’s the statement that I hate the most – mostly because he used it to scare the dumb asses that believed him.  Um,  we got HIT on your watch, remember douchebag?  And then you let Bin Laden out there to scheme again!  I wonder why the military was called back when we had him in Tora Bora? Answer me that, Cheney.

  4. No matter what our president does or says the Reps will find a way to denigrate or downplay the success.

  5. We have a little ditty for the beginning of spring that goes like this . . .

Spring has sprung, the grass has riz,

I wonder where them birdies is?

Oh there goes one across the sky,

It dropped some white-wash in my eye.

Boy am I glad cows don’t fly!

Well you know, I now believe that cows fly and they dumped a load on the Republican/Teabaggers!  Seems it’s OK for the Republican/Teabaggers to make political hay with terrorism, but not the Democrats.  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander!

    Bush Lied – Thousands Died

Obama Led – bin Laden’s Dead” — Absolutely love it Nameless!

And did you notice that Baby Bush is using a teleprompter!  I wish these morons that keep harping on Mr Obama using a teleprompter would, as the saying goes, shut their pie holes!
  6. TomCat,

Your very last sentence sums it up perfectly. The Republicans are thorough hypocrites on this, and they did indeed fail miserably.
