I’m trying to get blogging done a little early today, as I have a lot of chores to do.  I’m current on replies.  Tomorrow I have errands to run.

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: Robert Reich Explains How Mitt Romney Got Obscenely Rich

What we have here is Robin Hood in reverse.

From Washington Post: France wound up a long and rancorous presidential campaign Friday with opinion polls predicting victory for Francois Hollande, the Socialist candidate who promises economic stimulus measures to soften the austerity cutbacks imposed by President Nicolas Sarkozy during the European debt crisis.

The runoff is May 6, so we should know for sure Monday.

From MSNBC: A quick trip to the store to buy supplies for her 3-year-old daughter’s birthday party turned into a two-day nightmare for a U.S. Army soldier’s wife, who after being stopped for a minor traffic violation found herself threatened with deportation while her husband is stationed overseas.

Needless to say this happened in the Totalitarian Corporate Plutocracy of Brewerstan.

  1. MoveOn — Excellent video with Robert Reich that everyone should be able to understand.  Robin Hood in reverse, indeed!

France — “…several other European leaders, including conservatives, have joined Hollande recently in saying the E.U. must take urgent measures to promote economic growth and cannot focus on austerity alone as the solution.”

Truer words were never uttered.  ‘Austerity only’ recovery plans only serve to cut off the nose to spite the face.  Admittedly it is a fine balancing act, but clearly something more comprehensive needs to be done.  I am also assuming that France is no diferent than many other countries in having lopsided tax policies where the rich pay, percentage wise, less than the middle class and poor.  They should probably look at their tax code and rates to ensure that revenues are there to meet needs.

Brewerstan — ICE “…agency “is committed to ensuring that its limited resources are focused on the removal of those who pose a threat to public safety such as criminal aliens and national security threats, as well as repeat immigration law violators, recent border entrants, and fugitives from immigration court.”  — I think someone needs to have a serious talk with the state of Brewerstan on the protocols.  At the very least, appropriate questions need to be asked and there is no indication that happened.  I hope this family, especially the little daughter, is not permanently traumatised by this incident.

Cartoon — Excellent!  Truer words were never uttered!

    • Those who cannot understand it are only those who choose not to do so.

I read that Greece is about to kick out their goose-steppers too.

      I hope so too!

      Thanks!
