Will Murdoch or Cameron Fall?

Trying to keep track of MurdochGate can be challenging at best.  Rupert’s propaganda empire is complex and Machiavellian to the core.  His testimony was reminiscent of Cheney and Fredo. And the more the scandal develops, the more at risk Murdoch becomes, and not only him.  He may just bring down David Cameron as well.

21MurdochCameronContinuing the fallout (or the detonations) from the Phone Hacking/Bribery/Influence peddling scandal currently engulfing Britain (and soon appearing at a hearing room near you), comes an appearance by Prime Minister David Cameron to an emergency session of Parliament, cutting short his visit to South Africa in order to attempt quelling of a growing concern in the Government.

What did he know and when did he know it? Hard to say at the moment. How cozy was his relationship with disgraced former editor of News Of The World and Communications Director Andy Coulson? How much influence has been given with relation to the proposed BskyB takeover?

Cameron, along similar lines to the Murdoch’s and Brooks, gives a hearty "I knew nothing" when asked repeatedly and at times contentiously. Prior to this appearance Cameron pointed to Coulson as a good and trusted friend. On this particular day, Coulson was reduced to the role of Anathema and Cameron was twisting himself in knots to make a point… [emphasis added]

The person who seems to have the best handle on this mess is Keith Olbermann, and he covers the details in two segments.

Part 2:

If Murdoch needs Ollie North’s liar, you know it’s about to gel.

The ideal answer to the question in the title is both.

  1. …..well, correct me if I’m wrong, but would it be too early to, perhaps see if Tony Blair might not be involved in some of Rupert’s eh, wrong doing? Or , heaven forbid, perhaps “W”? It’s odd to me that those two “friends” haven’t been mentioned, yet. Even though I’ve heard some reporting that Rupert might have been wiretapping as far back as 9-11. (The victims) πŸ‘Ώ

  2. This actually may be the key that turns the lock on war crime charges fr all of the Bush people. Now wouldn’t that be a nice place for the spinning arrow to land.

  3. I want to live in your ideal world where they both get nailed. The icing on the cake would be all the Bushies finally being prosecuted for their involvement. Maybe Murdock is the one who told them Iraq had WMD’s.
    Good thought. Isn’t it?

  4. Parliament is now in Summer Recess until September 5, so I think there’s going to be a substantial lull in new developments. There’s a lot of nitty-gritty connecting-the-dots that’ll be going on, but probably not any major fireworks for a while … unless something turns up over here WRT the hacking of 9/11 victims.

  5. Murdoch is doing what it takes to rescue his empire. The only thing that will slow him down is jail time. But his wife is quite ready to take over. Hard to get rid of slime once it contaminates the water.

  6. If the police are found to actually lying for Murdoch and his bunch of buddies, this turns into a FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) which would mean that not only would Murdoch lose his entire empire but he’d and all his friends would be looking at some substantial jail time plus some BIG ass fines to go along with it. That’s what he should be worried about right now and that’s why he lawyered up here in the States. The FCPA has only been enforced a few times, but it is VERY serious – it is basically the equivalent of treason. πŸ˜‰
