Yesterday – my “day off” – I was not writing or researching, but I really have to go through inboxes regardless. So, I do want to say – if we are all still here – I’ m grateful.  If not – it was wonderful knowing all of you. (P.S. – I did manage to do some laundry – mostly after the letdown.)

On Monday, Malcolm Nance said on his “warcast” that “All of us are agreeing with Marjorie Taylor Greene.” And, dammit, he was right. This is what she posted (starting with a screenshot of POTUS’s post), and I agree 100%, and I’m confident y’all will too: “On Easter morning, this is what President Trump posted. Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit.”

Wajeeh mentioned this during Malcolm’s and his “warcast” one day last week, and it launched Malcolm into a horror story about when he was working there and his wife was also working there (as a contractor) and they needed a maid (the Nances probably saved the poor girls life – they definitely saved her sanity and started her on a real career). Wajeeh promised to write an article on the system, and this is it.

From The Root. This really pisses me off. The CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) may be made up of public servants, but itself is just a club. The Congreaaional Back Caucus Foundation is not even a club, but a non-profit NGO, not a government entity. The scholarship program is “The CBC Spouses Education Scholarship” The spouses of the Caucus are not public servants, but private citizens. They are entitled to do what they effing want with their GD money. This is racism pure and simple.

I watched this conversation between Joyce Vance and an expert on Hungary (which is having an election Sunday), but there is a transcript if you prefer to read. It’s about 33 minutes – but I can’t think of any way you could get this much information without reading a book (or listening to an audiobook). It’s very scary – and the scariest part may well be how little of it we knew about.

Yesterday, Trinette was by and we had conversations about family, shopping, and other things.

From the 19th. This kind of thing has been happening for a very long time, although not always quite so deadly. But constant harassment is not exactly a walk in the park. Law and Crime says he has a court date today.

Amanda Marcotte at Salon writes about why we can’t have nice things a woman President, and why this will be true for a very long time. Spoiler – it’s because there are enough men working very, very hard to keep it that way.

This from The Conversation is supposed to be encouraging, and in a way it is, but this issue is not an election, it’s an imperative, and when one starts getting down to the percentage points of changed answers when additional information is provided, I get very nervous indeed.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s “Soup D’Etat” – It Will Make a Chill Run Down Your Spine

By now, most of you have seen Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) claim on the right-wing network OAN (without an iota of evidence) that Speaker Pelosi is in charge of the “Gazpacho Police” in order to secretly spy on Congress critters.  But if not:

“Not only do we have a D.C. jail — which is a D.C. gulag [MTG probably meant to say “goulash”] — but now we have Nancy Pelosi’s Gazpacho Police spying on members of Congress, spying on the legislative work that we do, spying on our staff, and spying on American citizens that want to come talk to their representatives.”

It’s not the first time that MTG has served up some haute quisling.  With this malaprop she’s doing her best Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi imitation by declaring: “No Democracy for you!!”

And if you thought the Twitterverse was going to pass up a golden opportunity to mock MTG’s confusing “Gestapo” with “Gazpacho”, you’d be wrong!  So, let’s enjoy a few …

 

 

 

 

 

 

I thought Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) put a wonderful positive spin while throwing huge shade on MTG’s ignorance:

 

It’s easy to agree that MTG makes Sarah Palin look smart in the same way that Trump makes Dubya look presidential.  And I realize that half the entire population has an IQ below 100.  But do republicans have to keep electing them all to Congress?

As you all know, olive doing puns – and I think here and now is the thyme and place for a few.  So, playing off her ignorance of history and lack of culinary knowledge (why, some mean-spirited folks have even called her a stupid bisque) let’s see what we can come up with.

First, my disclaimer: Having personally met a few members of Pelosi’s Gazpacho Police, I have to say they are consommé professionals.

With MTG’s endless invectives and lies, it’s obvious she’s constantly pandering to her bouillabaisse.

Next, she’ll be claiming that back on 1/6/21 Pelosi’s Gazpacho Police were searching those “patriotic tourists” for mazel tov cocktails.  And it won’t be long before she starts demanding all those foreign prisoners down in Guacamole be locked up forever.

When a reporter confronted her about the “Gazpacho Police” gaffe, she asked MTG if she happened to have ever even seen a Thesaurus.  MTG replied: “You mean one of those computer-generated dinosaurs in Jurassic Park”?

I guess we can all try to romaine calm, but record-shattering ignorance like that makes me want to drink an entire giraffe of wine.

Given her long history of unhinged shenanigans, I really think she has a lentil disability.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she just admitted it and confessed: “Miso stupid.”

The truly sad thing is that besides MTG, all her buddies – Boebert, Gaetz, Cawthorn, the list goes on and on – are also all crepes.

We cannoli hope they all lose in the next election.
