As I noted yesterday, this past week has been unusual in that it’s been very busy. So this will be just a quickie.
Looks like things should get back to my usual easy-peasy pace next week. (Fingers crossed.)

From The New Yorker: Former President Barack Obama has inked a ninety-million-dollar deal to produce a Netflix series about Donald J. Trump’s impeachment, Netflix confirmed on Friday.
Production on the series could begin as early as October, in Washington and Kiev, Obama told reporters.
“We’ve already hit the ground running on the script,” Obama said. “Rudy Giuliani has given us a lot to work from.”
Obama said that casting for the roles of Trump and Mike Pence had already begun. “Pence has a much bigger role in this than you might think,” he added.

What is a DINO, anyway? In 2016, most DINOs were lefties. Though they voted in the primaries and caucuses, they abandoned the party, because their candidate (and mine) didn’t win the nomination. So they wrote in votes for Bernie, or voted for the Russia’s pawn, traitor Jill Stein, or stayed home. Some even voted for Trump. It they had not become DINOs and had supported the party, we would not have the mess we have today, because Trump could not have stolen the election. This time, the DINOs are more typical for the word. They are the wealthy, corporate Democrats, and they are scared shitless of Elizabeth Warren.

Democratic donors on Wall Street and in big business are preparing to sit out the presidential campaign fundraising cycle — or even back President Donald Trump — if Sen. Elizabeth Warren wins the party’s nomination.
In recent weeks, CNBC spoke to several high-dollar Democratic donors and fundraisers in the business community and found that this opinion was becoming widely shared as Warren, an outspoken critic of big banks and corporations, gains momentum against Joe Biden in the 2020 race.
“You’re in a box because you’re a Democrat and you’re thinking, ‘I want to help the party, but she’s going to hurt me, so I’m going to help President Trump,’” said a senior private equity executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity in fear of retribution by party leaders. The executive said this Wednesday, a day after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would begin a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump.

We most not give in to their threats. I support Elizabeth Warren in the primaries, but if the voters give the nomination, he will have my full support in the general election. For people who threaten to do otherwise, no matter who wins the nomination, we can only have one valid response.

The “Morning Joe” host said the vice president appears to be involved in President Donald Trump’s scheme to withhold congressionally approved military aid to Ukraine as leverage to get the foreign government to dig up dirt against Joe Biden.“
This is what Donald Trump usually does, he has other people deliver their threats for them,” Scarborough said. “We don’t know if there was a quid pro quo saying, if you — again, because — I’ve got to see what’s so shocking about this is the question was asked almost a month ago, the question was asked a month ago by an Associated Press reporter, ‘Are you holding up military aid until they investigate Biden?’”
Scarborough said he and Brzezinski heard almost two months ago from a former Department of Defense official that Trump was holding up the aid as leverage, and he said the allegation was widely known.
“It seemed to be the worst kept secret in Washington, D.C., that’s why Republicans denying a quid pro quo today is so laughable,” Scarborough said. [emphasis added]

“I thought when it came to election meddling that Donald and I were exclusive,” an emotional Putin told reporters. “This feels like a betrayal.”
Putin said that when he read the call summary of the phone conversation between Trump and the President of Ukraine, “I could not believe my eyes. It was just like the conversations Donald and I used to have.”

From Daily Kos: On the morning when Donald Trump released a “transcript” absolutely riddled with attempts to extort an ally into doing political favors from manufacturing dirt on a political opponent to fleshing out a Pizzagate-related conspiracy theory, the White House followed up by sending out its talking points for defending Trump’s statements. But someone at the White House pressed the wrong button. Rather than routing these talking points to Republican senators, someone at the White House sent the day’s instructions to the Democratic side of the aisle. Every Democratic representative ended up with a copy, including one sent straight to Nancy Pelosi’s office.
And to make things absolutely perfect, the White House then sent out a “recall” asking that Democrats give their talking points back. No one should take this as a sign that everyone at the White House is currently running in circles, screaming, randomly pulling levers, and desperately searching for the nearest exit. But it would be a good time to make sure there’s a safety cap over that big red button.
What are those talking points? Well, Trump never uses the word “promise.” Zelensky mentions Giuliani first. And Trump doesn’t actually say “Biden” eight times. And … really, that’s pretty much it. The rest of the document is just a series of claims about the “deep state.” There are no other points.

I never thought I’d see the day. Finally, at long last, Nancy Pelosi has declared a formal inquiry to impeach the Resident of the United States, White House usurper, Donald Trump. I’ll be watching for more developments.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday that the House would initiate a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump, charging him with betraying his oath of office and the nation’s security by seeking to enlist a foreign power to tarnish a rival for his own political gain.
Ms. Pelosi’s declaration, after months of reticence by Democrats who had feared the political consequences of impeaching a president many of them long ago concluded was unfit for office, was a stunning turn that set the stage for a history-making and exceedingly bitter confrontation between the Democrat-led House and a defiant president who has thumbed his nose at institutional norms.
“The actions taken to date by the president have seriously violated the Constitution,” Ms. Pelosi said in a brief speech invoking the nation’s founding principles. Mr. Trump, she added, “must be held accountable — no one is above the law.”
