Personal Update – 5/8/2021

It’s a groggy day here in the CatBox. Yesterday WWWendy came and brought my new liquid Methadone, but it was 3:00 before my first dose came due. We did some computer work. Then we ate lunch in the dining room. We went outside and wheeled around the building. WWWendy left at 2:30, and I had my first dose at 3:00. Now I know to save a few turds from my kitty box, so I’ll have something to chew on to get the taste if the methadone out of my mouth! YUCK!! Shortly afterwards, I fell asleep for several hours. When I woke up, I Republicated BIG TIME and plugged the throne again. I went to sleep again, and slept until almost midnight. It will take a week or two to see how effectively it manages the pain I guess that I’m not hurting, if I’m not conscious. Have a fine Saturday and pray for easy poop and decreased pain.

Hopefully I’ll be able to post something over the weekend. But I HAVE to get my taxes done, because I’m heading back up to Illinois on Monday for filing.

My dear aunt’s illness and death has set me back a bit – but the funeral was lovely and it was great to see family and her church friends.

(She’s buried at the Arsenal, and until my uncle passed [WWII vet] I had NO idea that military cemeteries bury the 2nd deceased spouse on top of the first. I found that a bit disconcerting.)

It’s another painful day here in the CatBox. Yesterday my Providence Hospice Nurse did come and change my pain meds. However, instead of sensing my new pain meds here, my Providence Hospice Pharmacy sent my Providence Hospice meds to WWWendy’s Home. AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Go figure! WWWendy was at her night job when they came, so she can’t bring them here, until later this morning. I’ll start getting the change then. Last night I finally pooped. Please pray that by bowels stabilize and that there are no more screw ups on my meds.

It’s a crappy day here in the CatBox. I have severe Republicitis and cannot poop. My Republicitis pain and cancer pain are both severe. Yesterday WWWendy gave me a shower, and that exacerbated both. My Hospice Nurse is coming this morning to adjust my pain meds. Pray that I get the relief I need. I feel like something I forgot to bury.

PHP is a programming language used to build websites. We have it at all through our hosting partner, BlueHost. In order to update it, we have to go through Bluehost. During his life, TomCat was the only one who had access to our account there. I (JD) am now the only one. I have been to BlueHost and investigated updating our PHP to 8.3 or even to 8.1. I found instructions to do so - in fact, I found two conflicting sets of instructions. I went through one set of the steps and got the message that Our site could not handle 8.3, but that it had successfully updated to 8.1. I then went back here to see what it looked like. But I couldn't get in - either as an administrator or as a reader. It was just gone. I had to reach BlueHost by phone. It was determined that Politics Plus is in fact not compatible with any version of PHP newer than the one we have. BlueHost therefore uninstalled it for me, and the site came back to normal. Of course, like everyone else, I care about security. But I also am aware that TomCat elected to use different providers for several of the services that BlueHost provides, for instance backups. We are backed up daily - but not by BlueHost. However, out PHP is through Bluehost. I feel that if they are not worried about the older version, I am not going to worry about it. I believe that our security here is all or mostly through WordFence, whom I trust.
