Glenn Kirschner – One the DOJ is wrong on

MSNBC – Sure is too bad Missouri lost Claire McCaskill. But I’m grateful they elevated her first, anyway.

CNN – Happy to hear Acosta speak up on this. Maybe some will listen.

Tornado Siren? (I’m getting tornado warnings here between thunderstorm warnings now. ‘Tis the seasin.)

Beau on UFO’s

Keith Olbermann – The fact is, whatever we do, people are going to get hurt. We need to be sure the people who want fascism are the same ones who get hurt – or at least, hurt the most.

This is the thread I had ready for yesterday, but didn’t want to post it then as we all had other things on out minds.  I am also posting it early so that a thread will be up early for comments  So please consider it today’s Open Thread and hang comments on it.  I have even included a “Blast from the Past” at the end (with a bit of explanation as it’s often misunderstood.)

Glenn Kirschner – “A Tale of Two Insurrections”

The Lincoln Project – Memorial Day

Armageddon Update – Yes, Titus can be tough to listen to. But his facts are sound. Sadly, that’s getting harder to find.

Ring of Fire – Giuliani phone call – Farron manages not to editorialize too much (and of course Hattie is always adorable.)

Thom Hartmann – Why so few plea deals? You may already be aware of this … but he explains it so well.

Beau – “Let’s talk about a second Operation New Life and counter arguments….”  I want one of those T-shirts.

“Blast from the Past” – Going Home – Paul Robeson
There is more to this song (and to the singer) than most people are aware of.  Sure Dvorak – but without two other men (both nlack) it would never have existed.  Harry T.BurleighWilliam Arms Fisher.  It has CC but CC does badle with music, so the lyrics are here.
There will be more videos this afternoon, also.

Thatt is not the most flattering picyure of our dear friend.  But he was so thrilled with that sweater.

Like so many here, I came to know TC through Care2.  I was happy when heasked to take on the small duty of re-posting to Care2.  That’s how I became emotionally involved enough to push myself in to the “gang od four” who got involved when in 2015 he suddenly “disappeared”   We were all terribly worried, but we did find him even before he was recovered enough to start chasing the nurses again.  Who can forget the day when he “ketched two!”

From now on, I don’t know whether I will ever again think of TomCat without also thinking of WWWendy.  Se brought so much comfort and light and joy into his life that we, being so geographically far away, were unable to supply.

I hope she will forgive me for adding the image of an angel to her post.  I know she is too modest to do so … but we all now she is one.

“Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

It took a lifetime to put this amazing one-of-a-kind puzzle together – and they’ll never be another one like it.

And fortunately, he had some wonderful help along the way.

Rest in Peace, dear, dear TomCat.  You’ve earned it, my friend!

In Memory of TomCat

I never met TomCat in person, but I already feel his absence.

We met in cyberspace thanks to the now defunct Care2. Some of you may have been on that site, which started out as a click-to-donate suite and then expanded to include petitions, articles and editorials. I enjoyed contributing to Care2, signing and occasionally creating petitions, and making acquaintance with progressive and pro-ecology people from around the world. I watched sadly as Care2 degenerated and finally died except for The Petition Site. Fortunately, I have been able to stay in touch with many of my Care2 friends, including TomCat.

I have been following Politics Plus for a number of years. I relish reading the blog, seeing Tom’s latest cartoon, and watching the videos, especially the ones with Bill Maher or Beau. Clearly I made quite an impression on Tom since he invited me to join the site and contribute my own thoughts. I appreciate the supportive comments that I get for my Sound Off! essays.

Alas, there will be no more of Tom’s clever cartoons or observations. However, Politics Plus will continue thanks to Joanne Dixon and all who comment. I can think of no better way to remember TomCat and honor his memory than to keep Politics Plus going.

As of 9:54 this evening – Tomcat has left the litter box.  I am heartbroken, but relieved that he is no longer suffering.

Thank you all for being a part of his journey. Many thanks to all.

update on Tom

Hi there,

I am sitting here quietly with Tom.  He has not been awake or aware since earlier today.

Thursday night I came to sit with him after my shift ended – he was in a lot of pain, but aware and awake.  I sat with him and held his hand as they gave him his pain meds and waited for them to kick in promising him that if he just closed his eyes to rest he would get relief soon – his response to me was “I want to see beauty, I want you to be the last thing I see before I go.”  That will stick with me for the rest of my life because that truly was the last time his eyes have been open.  He has heard my voice, but not opened his eyes since then.

Once Tom and I got to know one another he became my biggest fan – bragging about me to anyone who would listen.  Much to the dismay of many, I am sure – LOL .  He never missed a chance to tell me what he thought of me or how he felt about me and I will forever be grateful to him for that.  I simply cared for him the way he deserved and he made it rather easy – at least most of the time- LOL.  We have only been in one another’s lives for 5 years, but it has been a privilege and a blessing.  I am a true believer that people come into our lives when we need them the most  – my life has been made better having had the chance to know him .

Now This News – No surprises here.

Thom Hartmann – Crime and the GOP

Now This News – I have a new hero.

Orange Acres Episode 8

Beau – This is only one point which can (and absolutely should) be made about statistics. It’s not as easy to spot as onfusing correlation with causation, but it’s equally important.
