Yesterday the temperature at my desk passed 90° by 10 AM and 100° by mid afternoon. It stayed there until after midnight, and is still 92° at 3:51 AM. I have not slept. I’m sorry, but I need to take the day off. I shall keep you posted.

Yesterday I replied to outstanding comments, returned most visits, and went to do errands. The temperature shot up. It was the first of an anticipated four day heat wave. As usual, I wilted. It’s cooled spomewhat but the temperature at mu desk is still 95°, even though it’s after midnight. I have not slept. Whether or not I can keep up on comments and visits is a function of how hot it stays and how my body responds to it.

If convicted, he is still a more moral candidate than DeMint.

Brian Nieves and Washington mayor Richard Stratman in Missouri got especially heated and ugly — but accusations that Nieves committed adultery and paid alleged rapist Rod Jetton as a campaign consultant were nothing compared to what has happened since election day. Nieves, now the GOP nominee, stands accused of physically assaulting Stratman’s campaign manager, Shawn Bell, threatening him with a gun, forcing him to strip and threatening the manager’s boss.

Yesterday I had some volunteer work to get done, and that took up a lot of the day, but I did manage to catch up replying to three days of comments. I do have errands to run today, but hope to start catching up on visits too.

Fantasy Football:
Lefty Bloggers Plus is now full with ten teams. I have only changed two rules from the standard. First. I eliminated the horrid ‘can’t trade’ rule that assigns certain players as key players and makes it impossible to drop or trade them. If your best QB or RB is out for the year with an injury, there’s no reason not to be able to replace him. Second, I changed it so that 8 teams, not the standard six, make the playoffs. There’s no sense in having two teams with a bye week when more of us can enjoy playing. Don’t forget the draft is tomorrow at 9 AM Pacific Time (Noon Eastern Time).

Yesterday I had a very bad air day. About mid way through the group I was co-facilitating my chest plugged up and I started coughing. I continued all afternoon and all night. I have not slept, because of it. Today’s articles will be brief. I hope I will be able to sleep, so that I can reply to comments and return visits, but I can’t guarantee it.

Teabag Toomey is an idiot. The filibuster is a Senate rule only. There is no such thing as a filibuster on the House floor.

From TPM: It’s not like Republicans needed any help screwing up in Colorado. They were doing just fine on their own. But Tom Tancredo’s third-party gubernatorial bid has pretty much sealed the deal. Polls — and even some Colorado Republicans — suggest that barring some highly unforeseen circumstance, Tancredo’s presence in the race will all but hand victory to Democrat John Hickenlooper.
Every conservative should consider third parties. The sooner the Republican Party goes the way of the Whigs, the sooner we can replace it with a progressive party.

As much as I hate to lose the jobs, we need to stop spending more on war that all the other countries in the world combined.

Yesterday I dozed through most of my religious service, but the Dallas Diocese defeated the Cincinnati Diocese 16-7. Preseason fully begins this week, and one month from today, we celebrate the High Holy Day celebrating the miraculous return of the Ellipsoid Orb on opening day. I stayed up to date on comments and returning comments and should have no trouble doing so today.

From Crooks and Liars: Bloody Bill-I’m-always-wrong-about-everything Kristol continues his track record on Fox News Sunday this week when he predicts that the Republicans will play a game of chicken with President Obama and decide its better for them politically to block extending the Bush tax cuts for the middle class if they can’t keep them for the upper earners as well.
Rather than cave in to the Republicans, only to be blamed for the resulting increase in deficit, we should force them to either relent or raise taxes for millions of poor and middle class voters during an election year. If all the cuts expire in January, because of their actions, we can pass tax relief for the poor and middle classes only early next year using the same budget reconciliation process Bush used to pass his tax cuts for the rich.
From NY Times: A two-year study by a group of academics on American Muslims and terrorism concluded that contemporary mosques are actually a deterrent to the spread of militant Islam and terrorism.
No religions support or are responsible for terrorism. The blame rests with extreme fundamentalism, regardless of the religion in which it occurs.

It’s a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, the Blessed Beginnings of expectation. The Dallas Diocese and the Cincinnati Diocese will meet in Hall of Fame worship at 5 PM (Pacific) on NBC. I plan to try to catch a few Zs earlier in the day to observe the festivities. I’m up to date with replying to comments, and returning visits, and I should stay that way.
