Monthly Report for July 2011

Posted by at 1:32 am  Blog News
Aug 022011

In July, Politics Plus performed poorly in every category.  Uniques, visits, page views, hits and bandwidth are all down from June’s record.  I consider page views most important, because to generate more than one page view on a visit, someone has to open other pages to actually read them.  There are several reasons for the decrease.  One of our biggest non-blog referrers received complaints from people who do not want this message heard.  We I was banned from posting our links.  When I finally learned what happened, I contacted their management, and we worked it out, but most of the month was gone. The other reason is the time I missed with health problems.

Here are our basic stats:

vv7-2011

Here is our most recent Clustrmap, last updated on August 1.

Clustrmap080111

Our Clustrmap reset the morning of 2/28, starting over from scratch. The largest circles represent over 1,000 visits.  The tiniest represent one to ten.

Our average durations were up from 219 seconds last month:

Number of visits: 35728 – Average: 240 s

Here are are the the results of our Tea Party Honesty poll.

Poll0801

And here are your comments.

From John K. on July 26, 2011 at 6:53 am

Maybe they would try to make the government smaller, but ‘government that does not interfere in citizens’ private lives’ I’m sure is a terrible lie.

From Memphis Johnny on July 25, 2011 at 9:27 am

The "Lies" have it! Overwhelmingly!

From jeff on July 21, 2011 at 12:55 pm

these tea party people are a bunch of hipocrites.cut spending but give the rich more tax breaks so they can rip off the public.rich don’t create jobs they shed jobs and go overseas.does Derick Jeter create jobs?

From kritik1 on July 18, 2011 at 5:17 pm

Imagine your social security check in the hands of thugs. Your medicare controlled by thugs. Teachers and fireman cannot have rights because there is no union or a fair union agreement for fair pay or fair working conditions. Besides your 35 year old pension many be abused by private company that will use the money deposited as a trust to be invested where there may be greater risk for profit as well as greater risks for losses. What can be more lucrative than ‘playing with other people’s money’ Be ready to accept job for the sweat shop. Or are you really angry to say that this is un-thinkable, it should be stopped. Next, Big government pulverized to small government would mean the same thing; back to the Enron Era and the World Com debacle. We will see Earnie Madoff control the private sector from behind the bars. No rules and regulation, no Sarbanes-Oxley Act to be accountable for any transactions. You can take this seriously or you can take this as a total lie, (half of me is already 3 feet under, 3 more and I will make it to the 6 feet mark) the choice is yours.

From kritik1 on July 18, 2011 at 4:56 pm

People have learnt to adopt words that are not so repulsive. Once proudly spelt out the word ‘capitalist’ is out of flavor because it has a ‘corrupt’ connotation to it. So a capitalist these days call themselves progressives, which has nothing to do to becoming or being progressive. The same old bad attitude just a different name. They may change the definition of progressive to explain who they are, but that is insidious.

The other words or phrases used are ‘big government’, ‘small government’ Here again there is malicious manipulation in mind. They want to shut down practically all the government and the government departments so that everything is privatized subsequently there are no rules and regulations to worry about, the only rules would be the day-to-day rules to suit their needs making them the legal authority. Seems like an evil plan. cannot work in the long run.

From Lisa G. on July 16, 2011 at 1:01 pm

If this were true, they would stay out of people’s personal lives like abortion, LBGT rights, Planned Parenthood, etc.

From SoINeedAName on July 16, 2011 at 10:38 am

Seems like the clause "that does not interfere in citizens’ private lives" makes the statement a Lie. (I’d go along with the part WRT its favoring small government.)

I voted “lie”.  The Teabaggers, just like their Republican owners,  favor small unobtrusive government only when it comes to making millionaires pay their fair share and regulating corporate criminals.  But regarding people’s private lives they want government huge and intrusive enough to interfere with who people chose to be their partner, to stand between women and their doctors, and to force every teacher to ignore science and revise history.  Government in every bedroom, doctor’s office and classroom is neither small nor unobtrusive

We have a new poll.  Vote now. It may have a very short lifespan.

This is Nameless third Big Mouth Award, having won last September and last May.  He isn’t a blogger, so you can’t follow him home, but he comments almost daily here.  His ability to come up with links to increase our understanding on virtually any subject is still a gift for which I am very grateful.  I have even seen his comments here discussed on other sites.

Congrats, Nameless!

Here are the results of our Founding Fathers poll.

Poll0716

And here are your comments.

From paganbaby on July 11, 2011 at 3:29 pm

The men who wrote the Constitution were the Donald Trumps, Koch brothers, Richard Mellom Scaifes, Bill Gates, Adolph Coors, Warren Buffets, E. Boone Pickens, George Bushs, Rockefellers, etc. of their time. They were writing a constitution designed to protect themselves (the minority) from the possibility of the majority (the people) passing laws that would cause them(the wealthy minority) to have to pay taxes.

From nomdeguerreNey in reply to paganbaby on July 15, 2011 at 7:09 am

You learned your history where Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and Glen Beck learned history. Unfortunately, like those fore-mentioned, your historical facts are not the true facts out there. There was a mixed bag. on the whole though they were ruled by a code of duty and honor and were from the Enlightenment and they were looking out for the best interests of the many, as opposed to nowadays where we only care about the interests of the few (aka the Tea Party). Their fathers and grandfathers went through years of war and corruption and they just finished going through a war. They wanted something different. They wanted to make the commons the best place. A place to grow a vibrant democratic republic.

From jumpin’ jehosephat on July 9, 2011 at 12:10 pm

Yeah, you must be right because you said so.

From Charles in reply to Memphis Johnny on July 9, 2011 at 10:03 am

Gotta love the Republicans for making people accountable for their actions. So many think that they can do whatever they want. You kill in Texas, you die in Texas.

From jimmy aloha on July 2, 2011 at 1:39 pm

forget about the founding fathers ….. Eisenhower would be considered a radical socialist! Tax rate under IKE for the corporations was 52%…we built the interstate highways, public schools, bridges, fire and police departments and more with that money. teddy roosevelt would simply be ashamed of these idiots!

From Lisa G. on July 1, 2011 at 10:12 am

They would hate it because the Repubs a) keep insisting things are in the Constitution that are not and b) twist their words to fit into the some unconstitutional language and say it’s in there when it’s not (like those fools are gonna look it up anyway).

From TWM on July 1, 2011 at 4:44 am

The sons a b###hes who keep saying "our founding father’s" just by what they say I KNOW they have never even bothered to read their private communications and letters to their friends and constituents. They read a document (the constitution) and can’t name more than 2 signers of it and they think they know what these people thought? #### them. why do they not bother to read Thomas Paine and his "Rights of Man?"

I voted “hate” for obvious reasons.

The new poll is about Tea Party identity.  Enjoy.

I am pretty sure by that list that Mickey Mouse would be the only one with enough clout and wherewithal to even come close to challenging Obama in 2012. Let alone just speak intelligently.

At least Mickey Mouse would be funny and out of that line up William Young is right. And who voted for Michelle Bachmann – that’s a joke right? You know the woman is not safe to walk the streets by herself and is certifiable right?

clip_image003

From Donna F in reply to Lisa G. on June 18, 2011 at 6:54 pm

If our gov’t was as it should be, the way our founding fathers intended, then finding a president would be easy. Now we have to find one who will give up the power and put it back the way it was meant to be. Only Bachmann would do that.

From JimmyD in reply to Donna F on June 25, 2011 at 7:59 am

Jeb Bush would be the darling of the Tea Partyers — he destroyed Florida’s educational system — substituted ‘standardized tests’ for teacher’s judgment.

Actually this was two polls in one.  In the poll between cartoon characters, Mickey Mouse beat Ron Paul.  In the poll between real candidates, Romney won.

I voted for Huntsman.  Like Romney he’s comparatively low on insaniTEA, but he’s more unknown, and his own dog won’t be campaigning against him.

For our nation’s birthday, the new poll questions what our founding fathers might think.

Congrats to Jerry Critter for posting the 19,500th comment here at Politics Plus.  This is his third award.  Jerry still visits daily, because he remains addicted to the Jig Zone Puzzles in our Open Thread.  We have even more evidence than before that he mutters “My Precious”, while doing them.  He remains one of our most prolific commentators, and writes an excellent blog of his own.  You can find him at Critter’s Crap.

Starting with the next award, we will be changing the BIG Mouth award to even thousands, and starting a new sidebar list.
