New Rule Plus Barack

Last week several of you expressed the hope that I could share Bill Maher's interview with Barack Obama on Real Time.  I can and shall, but if you saw it on TV, watch anyway, because this is the full version, about twice as long as the televised one.  But first, Bill takes on Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian Bible Trumpers.

New Rule: Bible Trumpers

This is the first time Bill has discussed Religion, when, in addition to laughing at him, I have agreed with virtually everything he said, with one small exception. Jesus would have recognized Trump. Then he would have braided cords to make a lash and driven him out of the temple with the rest of the Republican Party. Authentic Christians are not Trump Supporters.

President Obama: FULL INTERVIEW

I can't remember another interviewer that has done such an effective job in drawing Obama out on the topics on which they disagreed.  I don't agree with either 100%, but major kudos to both!

I’m back in the saddle for a couple days.  Today I have to separate and stock my meds for a week in my pill caddy, check my fantasy football lineup, plan my menu and and compose my grocery order for the week.  Tomorrow is a Wendy day, and I will be posting my final  election prediction for the year, because I’ll be busy Monday with Megan, my PCP.  Tomorrow evening my Broncos will be spraying their opponents with Raid.

From YouTube (Real Time Channel): Bill Maher Implores the Media to Do Their Job

AMEN!!

From NY Times: A federal jury convicted two former allies of Gov. Chris Christie on Friday of all charges stemming from a bizarre scheme to close access lanes at the George Washington Bridge to punish a New Jersey mayor who declined to endorse the governor’s re-election.

Though only the two defendants, Bridget Anne Kelly and Bill Baroni, were tried in the so-called Bridgegate case, the scandal surrounding the lane closings in September 2013 left Mr. Christie deeply wounded. It helped cripple his presidential candidacy this year and tarnished his reputation as a key surrogate in Donald J. Trump’s Republican presidential campaign.

With the trial set to unfold in the weeks before Election Day, aides to Mr. Trump persuaded him not to pick Mr. Christie as his vice-presidential nominee. The governor now leads Mr. Trump’s transition team, but the Trump campaign said after the verdict on Friday that Mr. Christie had “changed his schedule” and would not make appearances in New Hampshire on Saturday.

I think Kelly and Baroni should get drastically reduced sentences, if they throw enough fat in the fire to result in convicting PIGnocchio.

From TPM: The Donald Trump campaign said in a court document filed Friday that it will appeal a restraining order issued by a federal judge in Ohio earlier that day. The order, issued by U.S. District Judge James Gwin, blocked the Trump campaign — as well as former Trump adviser Roger Stone and his affiliated group — "from conspiring to intimidate, threaten, harass, or coerce voters on Election Day."

That’s right! Rump Dump’s appeal claims that Republicans have the right to intimidate, threaten, harass, and coerce voters on Election day.

My physical terrorist, Courtney, kicked my butt today.  She is thrilled that she has an International reputation, because of us.  I was very pleased with my progress.  In my speed test I dropped from 44 to 32 sec., and I increased my walking time with a walker from 40 seconds to over a minute.  I had been doing sets of five of all my exercises and Increased them to sets of ten.  In short, getting off the Lyrica was a very good move.  However, I’m way pooped.  This is my only article today.

From The New Yorker: Dropping a bombshell less than a week before the Presidential election, the F.B.I. Director James Comey revealed on Wednesday that the Bureau was investigating Hillary Clinton’s ties to Bill Clinton.

The announcement, which Comey made in a letter to members of Congress, provoked immediate howls of protest from Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta.

Dang Andy!! Comey ought to be shot, hung, drawn and quartered for starting such a vile rumor!!

Last month, all categories were very similar to September.  I attribute our continuing slowness to my vision problems, my medication problems, Lynn’s absence doe to health, as she is our second most prolific writer, and the fact that even we cannot keep up to the extent of Republican horrors.

Year over year, 2016 is considerably lower in every category.  Here is our latest demographic data from Quantcast:

CQUS10-2016

They miss a ton of raw data, but among those they can identify they are a valuable source of information.  We are still mostly older, well educated, Democrats, and politically active, ns poor to middle class.  We are  about 45% male and 55% female.

Here is our ClustrMap for 2016 YTD.

ClustrMap10-2016

ClustrMap misses a lot of visits, because many visits can’t be easily traced to a location.  They have changed their format.  When you click the map in the left column, it shows the current month only, but they changed their interface to allow me to pull up the YTD map, and they just made several different  formats available, including one in Russian for Republicans.

Here are our top five articles:

Jane Smiley: Capitalist Pigs 1/17/2010 1,103
Squatch’s Open Thread 28/06/2016 6/28/2016 457
Keith Could Not Be More Spot On 10/26/2016 227
Oliver Blasts Hannity! 10/4/2016 204 204
Questions for the Circus 10/19/2016 199

The count represents only the people who followed an external link to that specific article.  Four were from September.  Three were from last month.  Congrats to the Squatch, who had an article make the list.

Here are our top non-blog/news referrers (100 referral minimum):

Care2 2,563
Google 1,909
Stumbleupon 186

Care2 is up by over 25,  Google  is up almost 500, Stumbleupon is down 7, Facebook  and Google (Images) did not make the list.

Here are our top  blog/news referrers:

http://bildungblog.blogspot.com/
http://infidel753.blogspot.com/
http://www.dailykos.com
http://oakcreekforum.blogspot.com/

We had only 4 sites  with 2 or more referrals, down four from September.  Putting blogs’ links here increases the ratings of their sites, so this “linkey love” is our thank you for their support.

While optimizing the site for better performance, I discovered that our Top Commentators plugin was such a resource hog that it was increasing the time it took to load our pages by 33%, so I discontinued it two months ago.

We have 351,945 links on other websites, down 5000 September.  I expect that to decrease, because thousands of our links are over five years old, dating back to a time, when we consistently averaged over a million hits a month.  I used to have the time and energy for 7-8 articles per day. Major sites (like Care2), where I used to post links are no longer available, I’ve stopped posting links at other major sites, and I no longer visit 20 – 30 blogs per day, because I just can’t do everything I used to do.  However, as quantity has gone down, I hope quality has gone up.

As of Midnight on November 1, we have 6,931 articles and 83,709 comments.

Congrats to Joanne D.  \Shee won a Big Mouth Award in October, for the 83,000th comment.

This is our policy on links.  We do not embed links to extreme Republican websites, like Faux Noise, Breitfart or World Nut Daily.  However I leave notes in square brackets when I delete such links, (example: [faux noise delinked]) so readers, who wish to follow them can click through to the source article.  I also remove topical links.  Finally, I blank the target on all links, so they open in a new tab or window.

Given our expanded talent, I expect to resume our overall upward trend, although my medical problems are still interfering with my writing.  One way you can help is to share our articles, not only with your family and friends, but also, on other sites, linking back to the article here.  The more exposure we get, the better we shall do at fulfilling our stated purpose, “Overcoming Right Wing Insanity One Day at a Time!”

It’s another exceptionally busy day.  This morning I did the most important thing I have done or will do this year.  My votes for President, US Senate, US House, Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Attorney General, State Senate, and State House all had one thing in common.  Can you guess what it is?  I exchanged my "sharps" container.  I prepared our Monthly Report and am writing this article.  I have a grocery delivery coming and have to unpack and put them away.  Later Wendy is coming to de-stink the TomCat, help with sole light housework, repair my power chair, and have dinner.  Tonight I have to fast, because I have labs in the morning, and I see Courtney, my physical terrorist, on Friday, so please expect no more that a Personal Update both days.

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: A lifetime of residence in North Carolina, a quarter of a century of never missing a vote is not enough of a history for Republicans there, so they tried to keep this voter out of the polls.

Just weeks before early voting began in North Carolina, Grace Bell Hardison, a 100-year-old African-American woman, was informed that her voter registration status was being challenged. If she didn’t appear at a county board of election meeting or return a notarized form she would be removed from the voting rolls.

Hardison has lived in Belhaven, North Carolina, her entire life and voted regularly for the last twenty-four years, including in North Carolina’s presidential primary in March. “The first thing out of her mouth was ‘I can’t vote,’” her nephew Greg Sattherwaite said after she received the letter. “She loves to vote. She will not miss election time.”

Hardison’s registration was challenged by Shane Hubers, a Belhaven Republican, based on a mailing done last year by a candidate for Mayor. Mail that was returned as undeliverable in 2015 became the basis for the challenge list.

That’s voter caging, by the way—sending out a mass mailing to get undeliverable addresses, then attempting to strike those voters from the rolls.

In a Racist Republican Reich, voting while Black is a capital crime.

As each day passes the hatred that deplorable Republicans spew grows exponentially. That's because Republican politicians and pundits have spread fear and bigotry. There is absolutely no excuse for a teacher to treat a student this way.

SHOCKING: AZ Teacher Celebrates Muslim Student's Possible Deportation If Trump Wins

One of the most disturbing effects of Donald Trump's campaign, in my opinion, has been the uptick in racially motivated bullying of kids across the country, mainly of Muslims, Mexicans, African Americans and Hispanics. During two different high school basketball games back in the spring of this year, in Indiana and Iowa, students screamed Build a…

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Warren County’s Democratic Party headquarters in Lebanon, Ohio was vandalized this weekend. Out in front of the headquarters, a pile of manure was dumped. The Ohio Democrats’ response was just right.

When they dump manure, we go high! One of our best performing offices, generating strong D early vote. Lesson: keep organizing while they bs

Republicans are too full of BS to ever run short!

From CNN: Paul Ryan might be done defending Donald Trump, but the House speaker said Tuesday that he still followed through on his pledge to vote for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.

Ryan told Fox News that he already cast his vote in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, but didn’t use the real estate mogul’s name.

"I stand where I’ve stood all fall and all summer," Ryan said during an appearance on "Fox and Friends." "In fact I already voted here in Janesville for our nominee last week in early voting. We need to support our entire Republican ticket."

Regardless of how they posture Lyin’ Ryan and Rump Dump Trump are two pees in a pot!

From CNBC: FBI Director James Comey’s October bombshell is already reverberating further down the ballot.

The surprise disclosure Friday that his agency is probing emails related to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has delivered a major blow to both her campaign and her party’s hopes of retaking control of the Senate.

It’s also created a headwind for down-ballot Democrats hoping to capture seats from the GOP in close races by winning over the remaining undecided vote.

As I said two days ago, Comey’s illegal Republican Intent was not to elect Rump Dump, but to effect the down ballot.  Even this Republican source admits the effect.
