Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Missing Inaugural Ball Money Adds Layer To Odd Trump-China Story

If I had to guess, I’d say the money was used to pay for a lifetime supply of happy ending tugs for Putin’s Piddle Pervert. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): MAR-A-LAGO-VILLE – Parody

Kudos again, Don. When Himicane Andrew hit FL, I so hoped that vile place would follow Atlantis. No such luck. 🙁  RESIST!!

From Think Progress: President Donald Trump’s nominee to head the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ran a family company in which employees were subjected to “widespread” and “pervasive” sexual harassment, according to an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

The investigation concluded that AccuWeather, the company then run by Trump nominee Barry Lee Myers, had a culture of sexual harassment and discrimination that included unwanted touching and kissing by a male executive, according to a letter obtained by ThinkProgress via a Freedom of Information Act request.

Women who engaged in sexual relationships with senior male managers were rewarded with “job-related perks,” the OFCCP letter concludes. Many women resigned rather than submitting to the harassment, while others feared being “blacklisted” if they filed complaints, the January 2018 letter states.

Although they were aware of the issue, AccuWeather officials “did not take reasonable action to prevent and remedy harassing conduct,” the letter says.

We are wasting our time objecting to this. In the Trump sycophancy and the Republican Reich, perversion is a prerequisite, not a liability. RESIST!!

Bill seems to understand Coverup General Barrf and the Republican Reich quite well. Kentucky outlawed bestiality? Then it was legal before. Hmmm…  That explains Bought Bitch Mitch!

Mike Pence: 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me

Every new thing I learn about pseudo-Christian Pence is one thing too many.

News’ endless attacks on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

It’s a chilly day here in the CatBox.  I woke up in the middle of the night and could not sleep, so I feel very tired.  Tomorrow is a very busy WWWendy day, so please expect only a Personal Update or an Open Thread with no links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:26 (average 4:30).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Fox News’ endless attacks on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Barf Bag Alert!!

The bizarre antics of the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, make it abundantly clear that AOC is a significant force for good in the US. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Bernie Sanders Channel): Bernie & Civil Rights in Chicago

Kudos to Bernie for his youthful activism. Like him, I was also arrested demonstrating in Chicago. It was in August, 1968. Bernie remains in my top three for 2020. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: In a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on insulin prices Wednesday, Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois and fellow lawmakers blasted manufacturers and drug industry intermediaries for creating a situation in which as much as a quarter of the population with diabetes is rationing and skimping on lifesaving doses of the drug because of cost.

“I don’t know how you people sleep at night,” Schakowsky told the panel. “I just want you to know your days are numbered.” Lawmakers heard from patients with diabetes as well, including 28-year-old Kristen Whitney Daniels, who was kicked off her parents’ insurance plan when she reached 26, and started rationing insulin then. “Nobody cared or nobody understood that without this next vial of insulin, I wouldn’t live to see another week. […] I can’t really explain how isolating and how terrifying it is.”

It’s also totally unnecessary and completely unjustified. The man who discovered insulin nearly 100 years ago, Frederick Banting, refused to patent the drug under his name. With his co-inventors James Collip and Charles Best, he sold the patent for $1 to the University of Toronto, because they rejected the idea that people who needed this new wonder drug to survive would not be able to afford it. Since then, this drug that has been around since 1923 has become a potent symbol of corporate greed and everything wrong with our healthcare system. Pharmaceutical companies are holding diabetes patients hostage just because they can, because they can get away with continuing to jack up prices and profits.

It has to change. After I fall through the Medicare donut hole, my insulin costs me over $1,000 for a three month supply.  My Advair costs even more!  RESIST!!

107-JoanneD

This is Joanne’s ninth Big Mouth award.  She earned her first in September 2013, her second in March 2015, her third in May 2015, her fourth in July, 2016, her fifth in October, 2016, her sixth in September, 2017, her seventh in February 2018, and her eighth in November 2018. I predict there are more coming. I know JD still comments far more than I do.

A denizen of Care2, she came to us from there, and is now part of management.  She’s super-smart, witty a political junky, an activist for all kinds of human rights, and a proud Marine Corps Vet.  I have had occasion to correspond with her, and she faces some major issues in her life with exceptional dignity and grace.  Furthermore, she picked up my ‘RESIST!!‘ theme with graphics that are nothing short of amazing.

In early 2016, I appointed her to a staff position, Politics Plus Author, and in October 2016, I promoted her to Editor. Please join in piling on the praise and kudos she deserves.  Her daily comments and her articles make this a far better site.  She loves to…

It’s another Busy day, here in the CatBox.  I was pleasantly surprised when CCC delivered my fridge yesterday. I had been told it would be a 10 ft3 unit.  I had a 14 ft3.  They delivered a 15.5 ft3.  That;s big enough to store an extra dawg, maybe 2. It keeps my food quite cold.  Furthermore, it’s brand new.  I like it.  TGIF!!

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Assange Arrest Puts WikiLeaks Tie To Donald Trump Camp Back In Spotlight

It’s hard to tell which leaks Putin’s Puppet likes best: Wikileaks or Russian Hooker leaks. RESIST!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Jeffrey Toobin on proposed policy: This is grotesque

As a resident of a sanctuary city, I would rather see refugees released here than Republican Sheeple. The latter are violent criminals and thugs. RESIST!!

From Boston Herald: Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren is proposing a new tax on corporate profits that’s designed to prevent business giants from taking advantage of the existing tax code to effectively pay a zero rate.

The 7% tax on corporate profits above $100 million is the latest in a series of ambitious policy proposals from the Massachusetts senator. It’s in line with her broader push to rein in such industries as the financial sector and technology firms .

Her campaign estimates the proposal would hit roughly 1,200 firms. Those corporations would pay the tax on top of any liability under current tax rules, which, as Warren said in a Thursday blog post on her plan, is necessary because “our corporate tax code is so littered with loopholes that simply raising the regular corporate tax rate alone is not enough.”

Dubbing her pitch “the Real Corporate Profits Tax,” Warren wrote: “It will make our biggest and most profitable corporations pay more and ensure that none of them can ever make billions and pay zero taxes again.”

I’m 100% for it. When a giant corporation has received so many custom loopholes from Republicans that they pay no taxes, raising the rate does not help. A higher percentage of 0 is still 0.  We need them to pay their fair share. RESIST!!

It’s that time of week again, and here are three excellent video clips from Sam’s show last night.  Enjoy!

You have to wonder whether Trump and Miller will add gas chambers to “binary choice”.

Fifty Cons of Way

I think George deserves better than Smellyanne.  Anyone does!

Yemenis in Djibouti

According to the Republican Reich, impending murder is not undue hardship. I bet being non-Muslim and having white skin is.

Thanks Sam!
