Yesterday, I took advantage of some halfway nice weather to go out and install the visor extender. It fits perfectly. I also started a file to keep track of the time of sunset – I really only need to know in the day I go, but to have an idea in advance of roughly how late it is, and even which direction it is going, is helpful.

Crooks and Liars – FAIL: ‘QAnon Shaman’ Tries Forrest Gump Defense
Quote – Chansley “[riled] up other members of the mob with his screaming obscenities about our nation’s lawmakers and flouting the ‘opportunity’ to rid our government of those he has long considered to be traitors,” U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves and assistant U.S. attorney Kimberly Paschall wrote in the 28-page sentencing memo.
Click through for more. I used the quote even with its error in diction. I doubt anyone but me noticed.

Daily Kos (Eleveld) – Turns out McConnell gifting the party to Trump is killing Senate GOP recruitment
Quote – Notably, Trump is playing key role in nearly every one of those Senate contests. In almost every state, Trump has done at least one of several things: repelled a top-tier candidate, made an endorsement, radicalized the GOP field, or become a complicating factor by incessantly pushing his election fraud lies and demanding absolute fealty.
Click through for specifics. Sounds like good news, but it is contingent on there being enough sane Republicans left in the country. That was not somethng we had to worry about in 2010. There were crazies, yes, but they weren’t the majority, or in control, or the face of the party.

Sojourners – AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR OF OKLAHOMA
Quote – “I was a juror on the case… and this thing has weighed on me for a long time. What happened was, several of us from the jury were getting on an elevator. This was well before deliberations. And one of the jurors said, ‘Well, they should just take that n—– out back, shoot him and bury him under the jail. It didn’t matter what happened, this was a Black man that was on trial for murder. He did it.’”

  1. Glad to read that you installed your visor extender, with no problem(s).
Cartoon: omg. This hit my funny bone, and I find this hilarious.
C&L: ‘Actions speak louder than words’, and this applies to him. He knew what he was doing, now it’s time
for him to go to prison.
DK: The R’s deserve what’s coming to them…they don’t even want to be around him. imho.
Sojourner: How very tragic and sad for these cases.
    Cartoon: Of course!
TJI –  “People who tweeted more outrage over Colin Kaepernick’s knee than Derek Chauvin’s knee have already told you all you need to know.” ~ John Fugelsang ~
    2. “It was inspiring to meet with Uruguayan environmental and tech entrepreneurs. We shared our commitment to expand clean energy development in Latin America. Uruguay generates nearly 100% of its electricity from renewable sources—a model for the region and the world.” ~ Wendy Sherman, DepSecState~
    3. “Unlike Ted Cruz, I won’t fly away to Cancun when Texas is in trouble.” ~ Big Bird ~
“I stand with Big Bird.” ~ Maya Wiley ~
    4. CNN’s Jim Acosta calls out the entire Republican Party over its Big Lie, demands that its leaders “stop the squeal,” stop being “sore losers,” “stop whining,” and “move on.” ~ Occupy Democrats ~
    5. “According to a recent University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll, only 18% of voters approved of how state leaders handled the reliability of the power grid after February’s devastating winter storm, and 60% of voters disapproved.” ~ Texas Tribune ~
    6. Things I distrust more than Ted Cruz – “Flint Michigan tap water, Bill Crosby drinks, Elevator Rides with
Ray Rice, Anything from Chipotle.” ~ Natasha BeTheChange ~

    • TJI #1 – Dear Lord, isn’t that the truth!
TJI #2 – If MAGAts actually wanted America to be first, we would have been first on green energy It’s not like we don’t have the technology. We were held back by denial and stupidity.
TJI #3 – Yeah. I’ll bet Beto does too.
TJI #4 – Jim Acosta’s calm demeanor can make it hard to see how passionate and angry he is. But his choice of words show it clearly.
TJI #5 – 18% idiots is still too many. Not that I should talk.  I’m sure Colorado has at least tht many. Sigh.
TJI #6 – Actually, I trust all of those things…to be poisonous.

  2. Comment from Mitch –

‘Toon: I remember when that photo was first published: idiot teabaggers!C&L: Yes, asking for 51 months is worthwhile, but we’ll see what he actually gets.
DK: Dumpy kills everything he touches: Go for it schmuck!
Sojourners: Obviously, being a “Good Christian” and caring for the rights of those who are “different,” are easily torn apart.  For far too many people, it seems, acting on the precepts of their religion happens only when it is convenient!
FFT: Out of thin air!  But, this is SOP for the GQP.  Too bad for them that Chansley will have the sort of record that will prevent him from running for congress, once he’s out of prison, if there will still be a Republican party by then.
    Mitch

  3. STEVE BANNON INDICTED FOR CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS

Because of visiting Virgil Tomorrow, it will take me a few days to catch up on this story.  Feel free to google in the meantime.

    • YIPPIE!!! I hope that this sends a strong message to all the others who haven’t appeared.

    • Yes, this made headlines here too, as you can imagine. The article also mentioned that

[Bannon’s indictment] came as a second witness, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, defied a similar subpoena from the committee.

The chairman of the panel, Mississippi representative Bennie Thompson, said he would recommend contempt charges against Mr Meadows next week.

  4. Cartoon: Yep, not good listeners. Act like they’re deaf.
C&L: After all the ugly acts of terrorism he demonstrated at the insurrection, he certainly deserves the maximum sentencing.
DK: Are the rotten R’s realizing that tRump is like a deadly time bomb? Ready to glow up soon.
Sojourner: Tragic the way it is.
    Food for Thought: Crazy.
Glad you got you visor extender up without any issues. Good luck with your visit with Virgil tomorrow, Tell him “Hello” for me. Hope he’s doing well too. I pray that you have a safe drive going to and coming back. Keep us posted when you get back.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  5. As I’ve now also ordered a visor extension from the internet, I’m very interested in your dealings with this new product. I hope it makes your trip less tiring and safer all-round. Have a good trip and visit, Joanne, and give Virgil my regards.

C&L: I hope the judge throws the proverbial book at this misfit. Everything is fake about him, including his new insight and swearing off QAnon. From the very start, he’s done everything to keep the spotlight on him starting by demanding (and getting) organic food and later by turning himself into a martyr. He deserves to be in prison for a long time without the limelight on him so that everyone has completely forgotten who this attention seeker is by the time he gets out.

DK: It doesn’t bode well for those Senate seats. Trump is radicalizing the Republican party and pushing any moderate, i.e. sane ones out of the race. And Republican voters being what they are, will continue voting for them, just because the candidates are Republicans. They rather vote for a complete nutter than for a Democrat.  We can only hope moderate Republicans don’t go to the polls at all.

Sojourner: The planned murder by the Oklahoma state of Julius Jones in a week time is wrong on so many levels, I don’t know where to start. Not only is the state about to kill an innocent man; if Jones is indeed innocent he would never have been in prison for the last 20 years awaiting his execution if he had a fair and undiscriminating trial. But in Oklahoma, somebody has to pay and the law still demands an eye for an eye, and preferably this is the eye of a black scapegoat.

FFT: It looks like magic but is in fact all done with smoke and mirrors.
