Yesterday the radio opera was Carmen – an opera set in Spain, by a French composer. The Carmen was from Georgia (not ours, the one in Asia.) The Don Jose was from Poland, and the Escamillo from Germany. The performance was done in Vienna, Austria, and the radio station broadcasting it is in Chicago. I suspect Republican heads would explode.

PoliticusUSA – Adam Schiff Confirms That Trump’s Staff Are Flipping On Him
Quote – When MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell asked if any of the nearly 150 interviews conducted by the 1/6 Committee contained Trump officials, Rep. Schiff answered: They do include people from the former administration. They include people in the private sector. They include people are experts in some of the — for example, the social media issues that we’re investigating. So they run the gamut.

Crooks and Liars – Rittenhouse Juror Dismissed After Telling Racist Joke
Quote – To make matters worse, the jokester tried to defend himself by claiming that the so-called joke had nothing to do with the current trial, showing how utterly clueless the juror was not only to what the trial was about but to his own inherent racism.
Click through for story, including complete “joke.” I am so glad the bailiff reported him …

Politizoom – Thank You Brandon Trends As October Jobs Report Is So Stellar Not Even Fox News Can Spin It
Quote – Revenge may be best served cold but Crow is a dish that Fox News really does not digest well at any temperature. Be that as it may, they’re eating a lot of it. The October jobs growth exceeded the original prediction of 450K and came in at 531K. People are rejoicing, and right-wing media is not sure quite what to do.

  1. Glad to read that you are enjoying the Opera. I’d love to see some R heads exploding…that would make my day.
I did, I did. Fall Back!
PoliticusUSA: Wonderful news in reading that this morning.
C&L: Glad that he was ‘found out’ before the trial. Disgusting, sickening remark from the juror, glad that he was dismissed.
Politizoom:  I’m sure the R’s are not taking this well…Snap!
    FFT: You go! Greta!!

THIS JUST IN: “If the power isn’t even entrusted to you, but you have taken it by depriving people of equal access to vote, then that’s the opposite of government ethics.” ~ Walter Schaub~ Senior Ethics Fellow, in the Boston Globe. *H/T Joanne D.*
“I was five when they put me, my family, and 120,000 others, two-thirds of whom were American citizens, into internment camps because we happened to look like the people who had bombed Pearl Harbor. I learned about race early.” ~ George Takei ~
    2. “531,000 new jobs created in October. President Biden’s economic plan is working.” ~ The Democrats ~
    3. “US employers added a solid 531,000 jobs in October as economy withstands the impact of the virus.” ~ Yamiche Alcindor ~
    4. “Is it true that “Let’s Go Brandon” translates in real-time to “I’m A Dumbass”? ~ Don Lewis ~
    5. “For F’s sake, literally no one is teaching CRT to children, unless your child is in law school, in which case, Congratulations! ~ Jeff Tiedrich ~

    • TJI #1 – Walter Shaub writes on ethics for the Project on Government Oversight. I get both his ethics newsletter and the regular POGO newsletters. I don’t always agree with POGO on what constitutes waste, but I pretty much do always agree with Walter.
      TJI #2 – Exactly/. Thank you, Brandon!
TJI #3 – It’s not hard to find staff if you pay a living wage and add a benefit or six. Those who are complaining are those who miss getting slave labor.
      TJI #4 – Yes, that’s true.
TJI #5 – Jeff has a way with words, doesn’t he.

  2. Comment from Mitch –

    “Carmen” rocks!’Toon: Sure enough!
Adam Schiff: Sounds wonderful to me.  But, they still need to jail Bannon.
C&L: Juror unaware of his very own blatant bias, because that’s how he grew up…it’s in his blood.
Politizoom: It is good that this news is, apparently, so “Out there,” because the GQP, and its associates in the right -wing media would never have
published the news on their own.  The GOP, and GQP’s bankrupt economic story-line get repeated at every turn, and their sheep eats it up, every time.
FFT: “Blah, blah, blah.”  Let’s see how the promises, admittedly wondrous promises, play out.
“Oh, well. Guess Ronna will have to double up duty on gerrymandering, voter suppression and the Big Lie. Insurrection denial is good as well. Gotta keep the GOP afloat somehow, what’s left of it.”  Hopefully the thread by which it is hanging will snap, soon.
    Mitch

  3. I love the story about Carmen!  Yes, GOP heads are exploding…..

Thank you, Brandon, best President next to my all-time favorite Mr. Obama!  Getting stuff done for all the people, including conservative/GOP/rural voters that don’t vote for the politicians who actually work for them….
If you feel “not heard” by politicians, stop voting for the same ones…especially if they are in the GOP…then its simple to know that you aren’t wealthy enough to be important to them except to be used by them.

    • Yes – I came to opera for the music (my mom claims I was in utero when I started loving it), stayed for the drama, and just keep finding more reasons tostay and grow – and diversity is anot the least of them.  Opera stopped doing blackface and other embarrassing gimmicks long ago.  I remember as long ago as 1966 a black batitone unapologetically cast as a white girl’s father – “this is who can sing it the best today, ideal with it.”  I was proud of the operatic world then, and I’m even more proud of it today.

  4. Carmen: Sounds exciting. I agree with others, regarding wish some of the rotten R heads would explode.
Cartoon: Yes I did them before bedtime.
PoliticustUSA: Excellent news. Hopefully the other ones will wise up too.
C&L: Despicable. Seen it on the news last week. The trial doesn’t need stinking creeps like him on cases.
Politizoom: Glad that the honest truth comes out with positive facts. Something the rotten R’s’GOPiggies hate… honest facts. Too bad for them.
Food for Thought: You tell them, Greta. Love seeing her out there fighting for the Climate/Environment. We must do our share, and like Mitch mentioned, hopefully all of the leaders who’ve been making these promises, will keep them.
Have a nice evening. Take care.
    Thanks Joanne

  5. Adam Schiff Confirms That Trump’s Staff Are Flipping On Him

    That’s great news!

But now it’s (past) time to put Bannon behind bars!

Rittenhouse Juror Dismissed After Telling Racist Joke

In some ways I’m glad how poorly Judge Schroeder has managed this trial.  If Rittenhouse is found “not guilty”, I believe there are a number of viable claims to appeal that ruling.

Thank You Brandon Trends As October Jobs Report Is So Stellar Not Even Fox News Can Spin It

THIS!  We Democrats have GOT to learn how message much better.

I’ll admit, the GQP is quite good in “Bumper Sticker” lingo.

    • In defense of “The Democrats” and “meddaging,” we could do the greatest messaging in the aorld and it wouldn’t help if we couldn’t get it to the people who need to hear it – because it was being drowned out by Faux Noise, OAN and Newsmax.  It’s true thay can’t drown billboards, but given the spelling of those at Trump** rallies, could those who need to see it even read it?

  6. I’m glad you enjoyed the global/multi-cultural performance of Carmen, Joanne.

I’m also glad I have no jumps backward or forward in time to deal with.

PUSA: TFG’s staff has learned by now that he demands loyalty at all costs but throws those who give him that loyalty under the bus in the blink of an eye. They’re trying to manage those costs to themselves by speaking out in the hope TFG will in the end be taken down before he can harm them any further.

C&L: Having jurors on board who are oblivious to their own frame of mind and to the importance of this trial, doesn’t speak well of the prosecutor’s vetting of those jurors. Add to this the fact that the jury was selected in one day and the judge also made some questionable calls at the beginning of the trial and it is clear that this trial is headed in the wrong direction.

PZ: Boy, those Meidas Touch brothers are good, aren’t they?

FFT: With another week to go to wrap up COP26 it is clear that both the UN and the larger framework of the COP26 is little more than hot air from world leaders who need to boost their PR and use the photo ops to make speeches that signify nothing and make promises they never intend to keep. If the world is going to be steered away from worse, it will be done by We The Young People and not the sock-puppets of the 1%.

    • “They’re trying to manage those costs to themselves by speaking out in the hope TFG will in the end be taken down before he can harm them any further.” – “The last temptation is the greatest treason:/To do the right thing for the wrongreeason.” – T. S. Elot Murder in the Cathedral  But I’ll take it anyway in this case.
