Yesterday, my grocery delivery came – including not only substitutions but missing items. I have no idea what I was actually charged for. They have a feedback option, but you can’t make any personal comments – and you can report missing items, or you can report substitutions, but not both. Fortunately there is a “contact us” form on the website. These people do not seem to be aware that if they substitute something I am allergic to for something I ordered, and I have a serious reaction, they would be legally liable for damages. I sugeested they speak with their lawyer. (And I never place a food ordeer without finding and checking or unchecking, however it’s worded, the appropriate box to specify “no substitutions.” Even if that requires multiple browsers.) Grrrr. OK, end of rant today.

Crooks and Liars – QAnon Voting Clerk Suspected Of Stealing Voting Equipment
Quote – That prompted Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to revoke Scott’s ability to run the upcoming election, putting Hillsdale County Clerk Marney Kast, a fellow Republican, in her place. But when Kast and her team arrived in Adams Township to inspect the voting equipment, they found a surprise. During the inspection, officials discovered that the voting machine’s tablet—a key part of its operations—was gone. Michigan State Police launched an investigation Thursday to uncover who took the tablet.
Click through – We had one in Colorado who has been stripped of her powers regarding elections (best we can do, she was elected). Now Michigan has one. How many more?

New York Times – Florida Bars State Professors From Testifying in Voting Rights Case
Quote – Three University of Florida professors have been barred from assisting plaintiffs in a lawsuit to overturn the state’s new law restricting voting rights, lawyers said in a federal court filing on Friday. The ban is an extraordinary limit on speech that raises questions of academic freedom and First Amendment rights. University officials told the three that because the school was a state institution, participating in a lawsuit against the state “is adverse to U.F.’s interests” and could not be permitted.

The Daily Beast – Jan. 6 Organizers Are Raking It In With Trump and GOP Groups
Quote – A review of public financial disclosures shows that multiple entities involved in the Jan. 6 rallies have continued to rake it in after the attack on the U.S. Capitol, with various Republicans and GOP groups continuing to give these entities business even as investigators look into their roles with the insurrection. Public records also show a number of curious payments on and around Jan. 6—including more than $25,000 in advertising that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) paid to right-wing social media platform Parler, with one transaction on the day of the riot.

  1. QAnon Voting Clerk Suspected Of Stealing Voting Equipment

Well, Stephanie – produce the tablet, or spend time in the slammer.  Your choice.

Florida Bars State Professors From Testifying in Voting Rights Case

Intelligent AND highly qualified?  Of course Ron DeathSantis doesn’t want them to testify.

And Florida takes another giant step toward fascism.

Jan. 6 Organizers Are Raking It In With Trump and GOP Groups

    As always: FOLLOW THE MONEY!

  2. Bummer about your grocery order. I can understand your concern(s) and frustration. I would be too, Joanne.
    Cartoon: Yep.
C&L: Not doing her job that she was hired for. Find and return the tablet. They don’t care. Flagrant misbehavior, imho.
NYT: Wha??? Good grief, I’ve not heard of this. UF should be taking care of these professors and staff, in any matter that is helpful to the students, and for these plaintiffs and the university as well. Unreal.
    DB: I smell something…oh! That’s big $$$ right there. WoW !!!
    FFT: Word.

THIS JUST IN: “I think a full investigation will show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election and he was  put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf.” ~ Jimmy Carter ~
    2. “Until Trump testifies under oath and to the Senate…NOT ONE WORD from him is worth printing.” ~ Nathaniel Stacy ~
    3. “The polls are going to go up and down…I didn’t run to determine how well I’m going to do in the polls. I ran to make sure that I followed through on what I said I would do as president of the United States.”
~ President Biden on his approval rating ~
    4. “The Higher Education Act gives the Sec’y of Ed explicit authority to “compromise, waive, or release any right, … claim, lien, or demand.” So the president’s legal authority to cancel all $1 trillion+ of federal student debt seems solid.” ~ Lawrence Tribe ~
    5. “Republicans are not afraid of Critical Race Theory. They don’t even know what it is. They’re afraid of theories critical of racists. They know what they are.” ~ John Pavlovitz ~

    • TJI #1 – Jimmy Carter is probably the poster boy for staying mentally and physically active life long – not that Joe Biden is any slouch. My Mom did pretty well too, as did, from what he has said about her, Nameless’s Mom. But, back to Jimmy, not much gets by him.
TJI #2 – I would make an exception for that if he were to make some threat so dangerous (and doable) that people in general needed to bewarned about it for their own safety. Otherwise, yeah.
      TJI #3 – Now that‘s a President.
TJI #4 – Unfortunately, the operative word is “seems.” Who knows what the courts – especially SCOTUS – are going to do if it goes there. (I wonder whether there is even one Trump**ist who carries as much as a penny of student debt. I’m inclined to doubt it.)
TJI #5 – Well, and that’s exactly what they think it means.

  3. Comment from Mitch –

Toon: Yup!C&L: A Qanon anything is suspect.  Hell, they might just create a line in the machine for all those votes for JFK Jr.
NYT: this is how DeSantis operates, just like Dumpy, the more he can shut people up, the better he likes it.  “What, you are
    divulging Covid info.that I don’t like, you’re fired!”
    DB: Business as usual.
    FFT: Nice, and concise!
    Mitch

  4. Cartoon: Yes
C&L: Despicable. Wouldn’t surprise me if there wasn’t others helping her, or doing it at other voting sites. Hope she gets prosecuted .
NYT: Pure evil. Isn’t that totally illegal?? Telling them not to do their jobs to represent the plaintiffs. Insane.
DB: Just what the rotten; R’s, GOPiggies and tRumpy love.
Food for Thought: I agree, concise.
Sorry to hear about you grocery delivery not going well. I don’t like the sound of you not knowing what you were actually billed for. I would think they’d send you an email or paper in your order showing what’s inside your bags or however it comes. Plus they shouldn’t be taking it on their own to replace items, unless they email and get your permission first.
The part of things being out of stock, I can understand due to so many things being held up still on the trucks and cargo docks. When I’ve stopped at the Vons here, the shelves have been empty. Even going to Costco, on the way home from the doctor yesterday, they were out of things and many items having limit of only one per customer.
I was tired out yesterday after seeing the one doctor. He took my old bandage off and put gauge and wrapped my hand and arm up again. The incision is very painful. It’s showing a lot of bruising from the wrist up the inner arm.  I’ll see the surgeon next Tuesday and hopefully she’ll remove the stiches, I honestly didn’t know that I was looking at almost two weeks of keeping the stiches and bandages. I thought the stiches were the type that dissolve.
Hope your day went well. That you were able to get your grocery issue figured out.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

    • I’m sorry your arm is still so painful and hope it gets much better when the stitches come out, Colleen.

  5. No matter what minority you belong to, Joanne, in your case someone who orders her groceries in and only the food she’s not allergic to, you’re simply not hurt. It costs them less to ignore you as a customer than to invest in a minority. They’ll take their chances on you digesting any substitute you’re allergic to.

Cartoon: Since this first was used, a lot of new symbols can be added to the list. Trump and his Trumpkins have embraced them all.

C&L: Another one bites the dust; that doesn’t bode well for the midterms. Neither does Younkin’s win in Virginia.

NYT: Florida is taking its cues from Texas and is preparing to secede and follow Texas in a fascist union.

DB: As usual, the money trail gives off such a stench that it can be followed without special sniffer dogs.

FFT: Only a Republican wouldn’t grasp the irony of this.
