Yesterday, I did finish organizing my evening meds. I also placed a grocery order to be delivered today. I even worked a little bit on that front panel I mentioned last week. It rained a little, which is now supposed to continue for a few days.

Short Takes –

The Hill – Biden administration moves to preserve DACA after court ruling
Quote – A federal district judge in Texas ruled in July that the 2012 DACA program violated the Administrative Procedures Act. The decision left intact the program’s benefits for some 600,000 people otherwise unable to obtain legal status after being brought to the U.S. as children. But it blocked any future applications, leaving thousands of young immigrants in limbo.
Click through for story. The delay from July to now is because it was appealed. But this is good news.

The Daily Beast – Arizona Dems Threaten Sen. Kyrsten Sinema With No-Confidence Vote
Quote – “The Arizonans who did the work to elect Sinema have had enough of her betraying the voters who put her in office. It’s time for her to show the bare minimum of accountability and stop obstructing the agenda that Democrats, including her, campaigned on and were elected to deliver. Sinema is setting her political future on fire. If she doesn’t change course drastically and soon, it will be too late,” Kai Newkirk, a Democratic organizer in Arizona, told The Daily Beast.
Click through if you like – It doesn’t go into the consequences of such a vote.

The Guardian – John Hinckley, who tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan, to be freed from restrictions
Quote – The US district court judge, Paul L Friedman, said in Washington during a 90-minute court hearing that he would issue his full ruling this week. “If he hadn’t tried to kill the president, he would have been unconditionally released a long, long, long time ago,” Friedman said. “But everybody is comfortable now after all of the studies, all of the analysis and all of the interviews and all of the experience with Mr Hinckley.”
Click through for details. Actually, he probably was never quite as insane as present-day MAGAts are. But I would still be nervous if I lived nearby.

  1. Glad (but jealous) that you got rain. We are hopefully gonna get some moisture today…I’m prayin’.
    Cartoon: Yikes!
    The Hill: Great news!
The Guardian: I forgot about his obsession w/Ms. Foster. Yeah…I’d be a little apprehensive if he lived a mile or so from me…for sure.
    FFT: AAAAA…..MEN!

TJI: “Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is being investigated for professional misconduct for his filing of a lawsuit challenging the 2020 presidential elections in battleground states. Fellow Republicans say the probe is “politically motivated.” ~ Texas Tribune ~
    2. “BREAKING: California is now a PERMANENT vote-by-mail state. Every single active registered voter will now be mailed a ballot.” ~ Brian Tyler Cohen ~
    3. “The Covid-19 Booster will provide even more protection from Covid-19 for those who are at greater risk. That’s why today, I got my booster and encourage everyone so is eligible to do so as well.”
    ~ President Joe Biden ~
    4. “The Branson MO Hospital has issued panic button for all medical staff due to violence caused by patients and family when they are told they have Covid-19.” ~ Emily Porter, MD. ~
    5. “This is a pandemic for the unvaccinated.” ~ Joe Biden ~

    • TJI #1 – Because of course it is. He won’t be a very effective Attorney General if he loses his llaw license. But that probably won’t stop him from sytaying in the position for at least the rest of his term.
TJI #2 – About durned time. I almost said “Every state should be,” but I’m really not sure of that. They would still find ways to suppress votes. At least, though, it wouldn’t be done so violently.
TJI #3 – I need to wait for Moderna – and for enough time to have elapsed to make the booster effective.
TJI #4 –  Some of that is happening everywhere – and our medical heroes need to be defended.
      TJI #5 – Yup.

      • Hi there,
I made it back – Spain was absolutely wonderful!! My son lives in Castellon and while I was there I visited Valencia, Benicassim, Oropesa, Peniscola and Barcelona.   Beautiful country – swimming in the Mediterranean Sea was beyond therapeutic.  The simplicity of life there is contagious and my son has a wonderful life there.
That being said – here I am back in the States.  For those you that would like some of Tom’s remains, please feel free to private message me at whogan3214@aol.com
Obviously, anyone that is interested will need to purchase a container and have it sent to my home and I can certainly provide you with my address.  Amazon has lots of inexpensive options for keepsake urns.  I would then return them via mail.
As we all know, Politics Plus was Tom’s passion – he truly cherished the many friends he made through his blog.
Please message me and I will be more than happy to fulfill any requests.
        Wendy

        • Welcome home!  Your trip sounds just wonderful.  I’ll respond in more detail after my grocery delivery arrives and I canget back to my preferred computer.

        • Wendy –

Good to hear from you and great that you had a wonderful time – and got home safely!

Any difficulties traveling because of COVID?  Some countries are not happy to have American visitors.  You can no longer fly to Sweden directly from the USA.

I’m sure your son was ecstatic to have you visit him.

        • Welcome back, Wendy.
Sounds to me that you had a wonderful time visiting your son in Spain. So happy that you made it back safely.
          Take care.

        • Welcome back, WWWendy. It’s so good to hear you had a wonderful time in Spain.

        • Hi, Wendy and welcome back. Glad you had a great time and a good visit with your son. Thanks for keeping in touch and for all you did and are doing still re: TC. Everyone stay safe, have a good rest of the week.

    • TJI #1 – Paxton is a PUTZ!

TJI #3 – I got my COVID booster shot today, too.

TJI #4 – Such a sad, sad comment on our times.  What is WRONG w/ those people?  *sigh*

    • TJI #1: Of course it is politically motivated. But so was his “professional misconduct”.

TJI #2: Only a few more states to go 05

TJI #4: After that button is hit, the police should eject patients and/or family from the hospital if they are not vaccinated. They’ve lost their right to treatment.

  2. I got my COVID booster shot this morning.  First time I’ve ever gotten a vaccine through a Barrier-Bandage.

They put the bandage on first and inject through the “bullseye”.  It’s supposed to save ~ 50 cents because of less time needed to give the shot and because they don’t have to wear gloves.  (But my pharmacist still wore gloves.)

It’s also supposed to cause less soreness, but so far my arm is sorer than the first two COVID shots.  But not as sore after both of my Shingrix (Herpes Zoster [shingles]) injections.  That caused a significant sore arm that lasted for at least a good three days … BOTH TIMES!

Biden administration moves to preserve DACA

    GOOD!

Arizona Dems Threaten Sen. Kyrsten Sinema With No-Confidence Vote

Not that she doesn’t deserve it, but I doubt it’ll do any good – and might actually harden her position.

John Hinckley, who tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan, to be freed from restrictions

To borrow a TFG ploy: “Many people are saying he should have aimed better.  Not me – but that’s what lots of folks are saying.”

    • I don’t remember whether it was Reagan’s first or second term … and I actually don’t remember who his VP was for either term.    But, when speculating, that would make a difference.

  3. The Hill: Good news, wishing them success. Have been signing petitions regarding DACA.
The Guardian: Surprise someone isn’t working at keeping him locked up. I’ve always wondered too about these gun loving idiots that claimed insanity. I like you Joanne, wouldn’t want him in my area.
    Food for Thought: Wise words.
Wow…you’ve been one very busy lady, Joanne, your meds, groceries and knitting.  I too am jealous that you got some rain. We got some drizzle here for the past three days. Now we’re going to warm up for the new couple of days.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  4. I’ve had 3 mm of rain here last night after a drought period of more than a month. It just started again but could turn into a deluge. Let’s hope it stays moderate.

TH: I did wonder why the Biden Administration didn’t act for the 600,000 other DACA individuals that weren’t subject to the appeal. They must be getting quite despondent by now, waiting perhaps since 2012.

TB: They should have done that much earlier. Not that it’ll make much difference, Synema will make sure her financial/business prospects are ensured until the last day of her term.

TG: Justice must run its course fairly for all.

FFT: No discussion from me here.06
