Liberal Redneck – Liberal Redneck – Biden, Trump, and the Taliban. Pretty good for somepne who admits he’s not knowledgeable. Beau, however, is knowledgeable.

Beau – Let’s talk about some questions about leaving over there…. (Yup.) The back-to-back is because they are related.

Beau – Let’s talk about who’s to blame for all this…. I can’t help but agree with his assessments of blame. But I also wish, as he does, that we could stop trying to assign blame right now. “Not very conducive to stopping it” is throwing roses at it.

  1. JM: Yes, it seems that some justice is finally coming for these three. But I’m no lawyer and not at all versed in defamation lawsuits, as they never amount to anything in Europe or Oz, so it got me thinking what kind of justice would be served to Giuliani, Powell and Lindell when they lose their case against Dominion (the name still creeps me out). It wouldn’t be prison time, I’d think, but more likely millions paid out to the plaintiff which could bankrupt the Trumkins but never does because they’ll fight it to SCOTUS. The 44-page opinion made it abundantly clear that the three have no defence and will lose the case, so it seems like an invitation for a settlement. This may make a pay-out more certain for Dominion, but doesn’t even come close to “justice is coming”, just like the Trump University settlement never made Trump guilty in the eyes of his followers.

NTN: Ossoff is a potential new leader of Democrats who looks beyond his own background into alliances on the basis of what is shared and who is intent on continuing to listen to the people he represents and to those in those alliances.

    RHQ: Heartbreaking.

ROF: Of course Ted Cruz would talk down the criminal Capitol rioters to ‘ peaceful supporters’; Ted Cruz was one of those that incited them to attack the Capitol and his role in the coup may come out soon in the insurrection hearings. He hopes that by keeping these rioters on his side with statements like these, they will come to his aid when he’s called to testify. And yes, his ambitions to be the next President come into it too, but at the moment it is purely survival what Cruz is thinking about.

BN: Nice. Another one that doesn’t mince words…uhm lyrics.

    LR: Forest got that right.

Beau 1: Sorry Beau, but “next mission”? Don’t you think it’s about time the US/the West stop thinking it is THE nation to bring ITS so-called democracy to others who don’t want it? What record do they have to show that it ever succeeded in doing that in a war mission? The US record is far better when it comes to helping fascist/dictatorial regimes (back) to power with military interventions. Afganistan is just one of the many examples where Western colonialism (the US and all of its European/Australian allies) has absolutely no clue about the culture and psychology of other nations and steps in to impose theirs because they think it is superior to others. All it’s led to is Al Qaeda, ISIS and the resurrection of the Taliban.
Sorry about the rant, but after 4 years of Trump and ongoing Republicanism, hypocrisy gets my blood boiling.

Beau: Spot on, Beau. “It is not a Republican or Democrat thing”. No, it’s an American thing. And I would add “Western” to that. We are ALL to blame. And we can only blame ourselves for not learning from it and making the same mistake time and again.

    • As the famous sign demonstrated, it’s necessary to plan ahead.  I’m sure Beau would be as comfortable as you an I are with the “next mission” being :stay out.”  But that requires planning just as much as a mission that requires going in does.

  2.  Dominion Defamation Suit Will Proceed Against Giuliani, Powell and Lindell

Now this is some good news!  I see bankruptcy in the near future for all three.

Jon Ossoff on Being an Effective Ally

I think Sen. Ossoff has a very bright future – he’s a breath of youthful fresh air!

Homeless Man’s Emotional Response To Small Miracle

To be sure, the problem of the homeless in our country is a complicated problem w/ no easy answers.  But BULLDOZING their few belongings at gunpoint is NOT one of them!

I’m glad he got his brother’s jacket back (and thankful for his brother’s service as an Army Ranger, but saddened by his suicide) – and the joy such a simple act afforded him is profound!

Ted Cruz Calls Capitol Rioters ‘Peaceful Supporters’

The problem isn’t so much that republicans constantly try to rewrite history – it’s that the media always fails to hold them to account & correct them.

(PS – Hey, Ted … maybe we can arrange to have those “peaceful supporters” visit YOUR office and peacefully finger-paint YOUR walls w/ their feces!)

The Ultimate Tucker Carlson Folk Song

Mixed emotions: Not sure Phucker Carlson deserves ANY kind of musical “tribute”.

Liberal Redneck – Biden, Trump, and the Taliban

    AND …

… questions about leaving over there …

Hey, Donnie – in your OWN words:

I think the main concern is any lessons we learned WRT Vietnam we (Bush) forgot when he got us into Afghanistan.

And I fear any lessons we learn from Afghanistan will be forgotten by the next time we engage in some foreign military incursion.

    • I see a few trying to keep R’s honest lately, but even that is mostly too little, too late.  But a big part of the problem is that(think of The Alt-Right Playbpook, and especially #3) they wear down anyone who tries.  And the media, particularly live media, generally doesn’t have the luxury of the time to keep hammering at them.

And that can bevery depressig.  I see a lot of discouragement in comments I am readinf, and when I see that at basically all-Dem sites which are at least partly in existence to encourage, I worry a little.

  3. NTN – I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad that I campaigned for Ossoff and voted for him. I fear for his political future, though, what with Governor [sic] Kemp scrubbing over 100,000 voters from the polls.

Rebel HQ – What the f**k is wrong with this country? We persecute the homeless with an insane ferocity. We regard them as vermin to be driven away. Those who scoff at their plight and react with snark forget that just about anybody could join their ranks after one too many bad decisions, or a run of lousy luck. Many of those now living in tents probably would have laughed at the suggestion that they could be homeless someday.

ROF – Ted Cruz is almost as delusional as his orange master. He calls those goons “peaceful supporters”? Sounds like Newspeak to me. They wanted to hang VP Pence!

LR, Beau 1&2 – When the US invaded Afghanistan, we took a wolf by the ears. When you have a wolf by the ears you cannot hang on, but you dare not let go. We set up ourselves – and the Afghanis – for failure. We were supposed to prepare them for holding their own against the Taliban, but we gave them training without experience. And we are going to pay the price. Biden is unfairly being made a scapegoat when he inherited a problem that was not of his own making.

  4. Senator Ossoff is indeed a treasure – a Georgia treasure and a national treasurre.  If I understand correctly, he got the seat that has six years left and Senator Warnock got the one with ony two years.  I thin at this point Warnock is more strongly placed than ossoff, so i hope that is correct.  Four more years for Ossoff to establish his place may not beenough, but he is theone who needs it, and I hope it works.

Indeed, attitudes toward the hoeless are godawful – but ot just the homeless.  Have you heard the “You control dogs by keeping them hungry, so let’s cut off unemployment” trope yet?  Of course Laura Ingraham is a part of that one.
