Yesterday I was kind of bleary, because my portable noise generator, though it worked, didn’t last all night. (However, I did learn valuable information about what to do differently – found out it does run on house power and how to make that happen.) And the new one should come before the weekend (and it will run on house power.)

Crooks and Liars – USPS Board Won’t Quit DeJoy — Or His Disastrous Plan
Quote – The arrangement, amazingly, was cleared by ethics officials the Postal Service according to a previously unknown inspector general report requested by lawmakers. He filed all the right paperwork, according to the IG. That doesn’t mean there’s anything that doesn’t stink about this. (DeJoy, however, remains under investigation by the FBI for his political contributions and company activities involving XPO.)
Click through for probably more than you wanted to know. Very little is good about this. However, President Biden’s latest nominee to the Board was just confirmed yesterday and that should help,

The Hill – The 19 GOP senators who voted for the $1T infrastructure bill
Quote – The passage of the bill comes just before Democrats take up a budget resolution that greenlights their ability to pass a separate $3.5 trillion spending plan, packed with the party’s top priorities, later this year without GOP votes. No Republicans are expected to support the budget resolution or the subsequent spending package, which is unlikely to get voted on before late September.
Click through for complete list. Don’t forget there’s another infrastructure bill in the House, and that Reconciliation will be invoked. This $1T bill is not the one we want (and we may not get the one we want, but we can expect to get closer to what we want than this.) Also, as Lona pointed out, this vote is going to go to Manchin’s head. It shouldn’t. These Senators are voting for it because they know something good is going to pass and they want to be able to claim credit.

HuffPost – Pentagon Issues COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate For All U.S. Military Members
Quote – Austin’s decision reflects similar moves by governments and companies around the world, as nations struggle with the highly contagious delta variant that has sent new U.S. cases, hospitalizations and deaths surging to heights not seen since last winter. The concerns are especially acute in the military, where service members live and work closely together in barracks and on ships, increasing the risks of rapid spreading. Any large virus outbreak in the military could affect America’s ability to defend itself in any security crisis.
Click through for story. If, like me, you were wondering what they were waitin for – it was FDA approval. But they decided it was too important to wait any longer (with which I concur – for what that’s worth.)

  1. What’s “house power” and how is it different from regular old electricity?

USPS Board Won’t Quit DeJoy — Or His Disastrous Plan

The problem is that even w/ Biden’s new appointees (two Democrats and an Independent) they probably won’t have enough votes because the Chairman of the Board, Ron Bloom, a Trump-appointed Democrat, is a strong supporter of DeJoy.

And Biden can only remove Board member “for cause”.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth is really working hard to get rid of DeJoy – but not sure how unless Bloom comes around and sees the light

Honest Question: Has anyone seen a list of non-corrupt Trump administration people.  Maybe like  former Acting AG Jeffery Rosen?  It’d only be a very short list.

Business Insider recently (7/21/21) put together a list of every Trump campaign & administration official who’s been indicted on federal criminal charges – but I’ve not seen a list of non-corrupt folks.

At least one of my GQP senators voted for the bill – Roy Blunt.

    WONDERFUL!

    • I should have said “house current.”  meaning “plugged in”  to the wall (as opposed to a computer – which I don’t have in the bedroom) and also as opposed to “on battery alone.”

For your list of non-corrupt Trump** administration people – are you limiting that th Trump**-selected? Because I don’t believe Alexander Vindman took his White House position until after Trump** was elected/inaugurated. But I also don’t think Trump** picked him – I think the NSApicked him. Also, I con’t include Rosen, since he cooperated with silence up until now.

  2. Cartoon: How cool !
C&L: Unreal. Getting richer and richer by the day. DeJoy needs to go, and now!!
The Hill: Well….our Texas Senators, Cornyn and Cruz voted against it. Can’t depend on either to do/vote for what’s right..
    HP: Absolutely!! Definitely good news!
    FFT: LOL !

I hope that your new portable noise generator will work well for you. Hope that you have a good day, and Thank you, Joanne.

THIS JUST IN: “Meeting the moment on climate change must begin with a recognition that every nation has a responsibility and every nation is at risk.” ~ President Joe Biden ~
    2. “No one can tackle the climate crisis alone. All countries, governments, industries, and citizens must work together to find climate solutions. Together, we can chart a path for a more secure, prosperous, and sustainable future for all.” ~ Department of State ~
    3. “Congratulation to this year’s Olympians! You overcame immense challenges to train and compete this year, and you’ve made us all proud. A special thanks to Japan and @usembassytokyo for helping us host @Team US.” ~ Wendy Sherman @ DeputySecState ~
    4. “The Democrats introduce a bill that would strip the pension of a president convicted of a felony.” ~ CTA ~
    5. “How much of an idiot do you have to be to spend up to $400 for a fake vaccine card, when you can get a real one for free?” ~ Jon Cooper ~

    • TJI #1 & 2 – Yup.
      TJI #3 – Yup.
TJI #4 – I wonder if that will get past Republicans – hope it will.
TJI #5 – Jon Cooper doesn’t get it. Th MAGATs, that’s sort of like asking “How much of an idiot do you have to be to spend $400 for a fake survivors card when you can get raped for free?” Of course you and I know that’s delusional. But they really see it that way.

    • TJI #4 – I like it – but what’s CTA?  Only thing it means to me is “Chicago Transit Authority”.

TJI #5 – Even if P.T. Barnum didn’t say it, it’s still true: “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

    • TJI#1: Agree 100%.
      TJI#2: Yes…All states/countries must do their part.
TJI#3: Yes…Congrats to them. We do thank Japan.
TJI#4: I pray that they do pass this bill. Definite must.

    • TJI #1&2: Amen to both of them.

TJI #4: Would Republicans really be this stupid to fall for it?

  3. C&L: dEjoy has done nothing for our Postal Service. I pray that the FBI finds some facts that can help remove him soon.
The Hill: Glad some finally did. Not seeing any of mine listed.
HP: Great news. The more that do get vaccinated, the faster we’re going to be able to get rid of this stinking virus.
Food for Thought: If that’s what it takes to get these idiots to get it, do it.
Hope you had a nice day. Good luck with your noise machine.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  4. Cartoon: So this is the moment media got involved and it all went downhill from there? 45

C&L: Those members of the board must have huge Dutch planks in front of their heads not to notice they’re now all in the spotlight, not only DeJoy and continue as if their world hasn’t changed since Biden became president. Or are they all maintaining “it was stolen”?

TH: I’m getting confused by the different versions and amendments of this bill. And that seems on purpose; since so many Republicans voted along it can no longer have too much in common with the bill as it originally was put forward. Too much water makes wine undrinkable.

HP: Great. And not waiting on the FDA is a good thing too; that Trump-infested club should be closed down and completely overhauled before it should be let near any decision at all.

FFT: But what are they going to do with the $1000 the idiot gives for his shot?

    • The original bill was split onto two – “hard” and “soft” infrastructure.  This $1T bill is the hard infrastructure.  The $3.5 T includes sof t infrastructure and, because the $1T bill includes “bdget,” we ca now use reconciliation.  i’m sure the Repubs know that but theyapparently think they can make political capital out of having voted (some of them) for the “hard” bill even if the “soft” part has to pass without them.  And thats the Readers Digest version.  You’re right, it is complicated.
