Yesterday I got my grocery delivery and put all the perishables away – probably today I’ll put away the toilet paper and glue, and the bottled beverages. If I have room. I also placed an order for a new noise generator, because the one I have has been, for the last couple of nights, starting and stopping unpredictably which interferes with my sleep.  I’m aware it may not be the machine but the cord – but I can’t check that out without moving my mattress and I haven’t felt up to that. Besides, they are not terribly pricey. I just got a class action settlement which will cover it twice over (and you know how skimpy they are LOL.)

Short Takes –

Reuters – Prehistoric cave paintings in Spain show Neanderthals were artists
Quote – Pigments were made in the caves at different times up to 15,000 and 20,000 years apart, the study found, and dispel an earlier suggestion that they were the result of a natural oxide flow rather than being man-made. “The importance is that it changes our attitude towards Neanderthals. They were closer to humans. Recent research has shown they liked objects, they mated with humans and now we can show that they painted caves like us,” he said.
Click through for story.   I always like to stick up for the Neanderthalers. I’m convinced our worst traits as a species are not from them, but from ourselves.

Former Acting A.G. Jeffrey Rosen May Be Trump’s John Dean
Quote – Following the closed-door testimony, Senator Blumenthal stated that Rosen “discussed previously reported incidents, including his interactions with Mr. Clark, with the Senate Judiciary Committee. He called Mr. Rosen’s account ‘dramatic evidence of how intent Trump was in overthrowing the election.'” Additionally, Senator Blumenthal said that Rosen “presented new facts and evidence that led him to believe that the committee would need to answer ‘profound and important questions’ about the roles that individuals in Mr. Trump’s orbit played in the effort to undermine the peaceful transition of power.”
Click through for train of thought. Of course it’s pure speculation, at best an educated guess. But it would be nice.

LA Times – Why are vaccination rates so low? We found the worst county in each state and asked the politicians
Quote – Among the mayors who supported vaccination, the dominant sentiment was that they had done all they could to raise the rates and were never going to succeed.
Click through if you like, The response rate was low, and those who answered, asnwered exactly as you would expect. But the chart is interesting. I had to turn off my ad blocker, so I put the chart into a Word documebt (and I can make a pdf from it in seconds if that is preferred) and can send it easily.

Food for Thought – I like the way he conceptualizes.

  1. Will have to redo – I accidentally deleted this page.

    GRRRRR

    • Nameless,
I’ve been there, and done that in the past.
I don’t know why I can’t just magically snap my fingers and my comment(s) would re-appear, but it doesn’t…it is frustrating. Hang in there, and enjoy your day too.

    • I suspect we’ve all been there and done that on the past … but that doesn’tmake it any less frustrating.  isery ay love copany, but not that much.  Take your tiem.

  2. Cartoon:Oh, cat goddesses! Save us & soon.           Cave paintings: I agree w/JD. We’ve got waay worse now. DeathSantis, etc. causing unneeded suffering and deaths.     Rosen: seems to be very important testimony. Guess he was blocked from speaking out during (2nd) impeachment?        Vax rates: Sad (truly) re: misinformation. Note on Ohio’s county w/lowest rate. Holmes County is predominately Amish.   TJI: Michigan militia nuts also planned to get GOP OH Gov. Dewine & VA’s Northam besides Gov. Whitmer.    FFT: like his thinking. The shorts are cute, too.  Hope you can get good sleep,JD. Everyone stay safe.

  3. Cartoon: I have seen children express their thoughts and actions such as this young man in school(s). Not good all the way around, including the gun he’s holding…
Reuters: What a great and fascinating article. TY
C&L: PTL for Mr. Rosen and Mr. Donohue standing up for the US and it’s citizens, and not bending the knee to As-Hole (TOT). Thank God for them, the others who stand up as well.
LA: We’re not looking good..  re: covid. Yesterday – 7 day average 52 with new cases at 94. I’m worried that it will go up higher, and what with the kids going back soon to school.
    FFT: What a great picture!

You sound like you’ve been busy! Good luck with your noise generator too. Thank you! and have a good day, Joanne.

This just in: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigns over sexual harassment scandal, will leave office in 2 weeks.  ~ Dan Mangan, CNBC ~
    2. Re: Fox’s Matt Baier re: the 1T bipartisan infrastructure bill –  Baier pointed to concerns raised by critics of the bill. “Look, you don’t see the number of conservative Republicans supporting this bill that you do unless it’s fiscally responsible and I would also again point to the cost of doing nothing,” ~ Pete Buttigieg ~ H/T JD
    3. “I won’t stop saying this until Trump is brought to Justice. If he is not prosecuted for trying to overthrow our Government, we will lose our Democracy. 245 years of Self Rule will be over.” ~ Rob Reiner ~
    4. “I need someone to explain to me why Louis DeJoy is still Postmaster General. Explain it to me like I’m in kindergarten. ~ Andrea Junker ~
    5. “We were celebrating the other day the fact that we brought together labor leadership and the leadership of many of these employers of UAW. Now, what we are working on  in our department and what we were announcing that day was tailpipe emissions standards. “To their credit, an all-electric company like Tesla doesn’t even have tailpipes and that’s an exciting thing to see too.” ~ Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg ~

    • TJI #1 – I think this is wise.  When someone in that spot tries to defend himself  by claiming there  has been misunderstanding, i tend to think, “Yup.  Entitled men don’t understand that women are human.  There’s your misunderstanding right there.”
TJI #2 & 5 – Pete is much nicer than I am. I would havsaid something like, “This was a tailpipe emissions meeting. Are you under the impression that electric cars have tailpipes?”
      TJI #3 – Yup.
TJI #4 – Republicans have been trying to destroy the postal service for a very long time. One of the things they did, long before Trump**, let alone deJoy, was to invent a Board of Governors which would be the only thing that could fire a Postmaster General. They got is passed into law and now we are stuck with it, ans him, unless he drops dead. No, no, Andrea – put down that gun!

UPDATE on USPS – President Biden’s last nominee just got confirmed PTL and we may hope for some action. There is a “survey” available here (donations are requested but not required.) It shouldn’t pre-fill with my name, but, if it does, just change it.

    • TJI #1: Perhaps for the better but I somehow feel that the GQP scored a point on this one. They hated his guts when he stood up for New York when the pandemic broke out last year.

TJI #3: How many Amens are needed before TFG is finally brought to justice?

TJI #4: That should answer the same question I had the day before. And I now move out of Andre’s way so she can shoot the Board.

  4. REPRISE (As best I remember)

Prehistoric cave paintings in Spain show Neanderthals were artists

He said they applied the iron oxide with “their fingertips or airbrush.

    Did he mean “hairbrush”?

What kind of “airbrush” would be available over 40,000 years ago?

Former Acting A.G. Jeffrey Rosen May Be Trump’s John Dean

    Lord, I hope so!

I’m anxious to learn what Jeffrey Clark says – UNDER OATH – when his time in the box comes.

Time for indictments to start dropping.

    Vaccination Rates So Low

LA Times is behind a paywall for me.

  5. Cartoon: Awful seeing kids playing with guns, teaches them to shoot/kill others. Never allowed play guns around mine.
    Reuters: Interesting article.
C&L: I appreciate Rosen telling them all of the facts of what tRump was trying to do to overturn the election. To me, no one should want to jeopardize the rest of their future/careers by telling lies or covering up information to protect tRump.
LA: Scary. We had close to 1500 new cases today and 4 deaths here in San Diego. What frightens me is that they say vaccinated ones can get the Delta variant. The only good thing is that the ones who have been vaccinated and get it, don’t end up in the Hospital. I pray that’s true. I wear a mask everywhere I go.
Food for Thought: Great photo, Love his thoughts too.
Hope you get your new noise generator soon. I have a sound machine that I run for 2 hours when I go to bed. Plus use a diffuser I run for a couple of hours. I start it 30 minutes before I go to bed and it runs for another 1 1/2 hours. I feel they help.
    Hope your day was pleasant.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

    • Diffusers are great, but I don’t know what I would put in one that I’m not allergic to.  Alas, there is nothing that works exactly the same for everyone.

  6. Reuters: Hurray for Neanderthals.

C&L: I would cheer for Rosen too were it not the commission had to get him behind closed doors before he would speak.

LAT: They gave in pretty quickly, not wanting to face riots and mayhem.

FFT: Awsome. Three cheers for all his successful software updates, though his dress sense may have suffered a little.
