Yesterday I finished that @#$% sweater, and I admit I pushed myself to get it done before it got hot again. But I won’t need to push myself going forward. It’s never too cold to work with cotton yarn. This afternoon I have a doctor’s appointlent – for that “annual” checkup which was deferred by CoViD. I’m not expecting any surprises. I will go masked – the Doctor is not an idiot, but too many other people in my county are. I won’t be going anywhere unmasked any time soon.

Lindsey Graham Comes Down With COVID At Joe Manchin’s Boat Party
Quote – 7 Senators total, that we know of. That is a LOT of folks that were exposed to someone who is positive for COVID. Let’s hope everyone else stays healthy or asymptomatic. Hopefully Senate Majority Leader Schumer will come out with a statement shortly about how they plan to proceed with Senate votes on the Infrastructure Bill. This is CRITICAL. Also, it’s probably a good time to recall the House Trolls’ little trip to the Senate to performatively complain about masks. That was on July 29th. The photo at the top was taken on July 30th, by the way, and even there old Lindz doesn’t look especially well.

The Grio – Jury overrules coroner’s finding that Black teen died by suicide
Quote – The town in which Martin lived is reportedly 95% white, and next steps for how this case will proceed are unknown at this time. His kin is reportedly elated by the news. “I am happy,” said Kimberly Lotts, Martin’s mother. “I am happy that somebody else saw. Glory to God. I could just shout. But we got a long way to go, so we’ll just keep on praying and keep on trusting in the Lord.”

The Kansas City Star – Kansas City police board tried to meet behind the mayor’s back
Quote – We asked the department to explain the legal basis for excluding Lucas, a voting police board member, from the session. We didn’t get a clear answer. The department did not claim a clerical error, either, or an honest mistake. It refused to provide documents that might explain the decision, citing attorney-client privilege…. The only way any member of the board could have participated was through use of the dial-in number and passcode, or by going to Police Chief Rick Smith’s office. Lucas wasn’t given any of this information that morning.

  1. Cartoon: What a great place for the R’s to get stuck in too. lol
    C&L: Yep. Vaccines do work.
Grio: Such a tragedy for this young man. I agree with the jury in overriding the coroner’s finding. Let justice prevail.
FFT: Absolutely correct and on point.
Best to you with your Dr’s appt. Thanks! for your post, Joanne.

This Just IN: TJI “Know who doesn’t hide his tax returns? Joe Biden.” ~ Jeff Tiedrich ~
    2. “Wear a mask. Get vaccinated. Save Lives.” ~ Senator Tammy Baldwin ~
    3. “Education is the seed from which everything grows.” ~ Trevor Noah Foundation ~
    4. “Met with @Potus at the White House to discuss the need to finally provide immigrants with a well-earned pathway to citizenship through budget reconciliation. Grateful to have his and VP’s unequivocal support—we have powerful momentum to get this done. ~Senator Alex Padilla~
    5. “Monsignor Burrell wanted to deny Biden communion because Biden supports Women’s Rights. Msgr Burrell resigned over alleged Grindr dates – effectively the highest-ranking American cleric who is not a bishop.”
    ~ Liz Palasota ~

    • TJI #5 – Ain’t Karma grand?  (And I could care less about Msgr. Burrell’s sexual orientation – it’s his hypocrisy that I hate.)

    • TJI #1 – Jeff doesn’t waste words.
      TJI #2 – Amen.
TJI #3 – I can’t go so far as to claim that it works always and on everyone – but it certainly works well enough to preven the kind of mass hysteria we are seeing now, at least when well done.
      TJI #4 – Good news
TJI #5 – At least it wasn’t altar boys. Oh, wait – we don’t know that for sure.

    • TJI#1: How nice to have an honest man running our country.
TJI#2: Definitely wise words and actions to go by.
TJI#3: It does wonders for ones future.
      TJI#4: Great news.
      TJI#5: Ditto Nameless’ comment.

  2. Last week when I went to the grocery store I’d say about 5-10 percent wore masks (myself included).

Then when I went to Costco a day or so later I’d say 25-35 percent wore masks.

From a scientific aspect it’s purely anecdotal, but I found it interesting & probably reflective of demographics.

Lindsey Graham Comes Down With COVID At Joe Manchin’s Boat Party

I’m concerned that this might have an impact on the bipartisan Infrastructure bill, if too many senators have to quarantine.

Jury overrules coroner’s finding that Black teen died by suicide

    That’s some good news.

Kansas City police board tried to meet behind the mayor’s back

It’s behind a paywall, so I’m not familiar w/ the details.  But it does sound like it might have violated our (Missouri’s) “Sunshine Law” that lets the public know what our government is doing.

    Food for Thought

    Some sage advice!

    • I wonder how I managed to get into the Star when you couldn’t.  Maybe the paywall only applies locally?  Oh wait, I know – I did have to turn off the ad blocker built into my browser, which I cn do for specific sites without losing it on other sites (and I can do it without also turning off the tracking blocker.)

  3. Hoping for good luck w/your MD visit.
‘Toon: Based on the definition of a republican form of government, ours at the outset, the Republican Party needs to give up its name, as its very acts of Jim Crow disenfranchisement move it far from republican.  It can, now, be properly called the “Shithole Party,” and be placed in the center of that loo.
Lindsey-Pooh: It’s almost too bad he’s vaccinated.  But, we do need the Infrastructure bill.  Anybody notice the side article, at C&L, about Newt going “Full On White Supremacist?” Jives with my comment, above.
Grio: Missouri coroner?  Yeah, offhand I’d give one of those credibility re: a black person’s death.  NOT!
KCS: Safari won’t let me access, but, no, never a dull moment.
    FFT: Wise words!

  4. TJI#1: How amazing!  not.
    TJI#2: AKA: Be a “Citizen!”
TJI#3: The GQP has known that for a very long time, sadly.
TJI#4: I like the sound of that.
TJI#5: The Monseigneur is just the latest in a LONG string of religious hypocrites!

  5. Having, now, seen the KCS posting, it reminds me of exactly what the GQP is all about. lies and manipulating, and nothing else!

  6. Cartoon: Perfect place for them.
C&L: Heard all about gRaham yesterday. Kind of surprised hearing that besides him, other R’s had been vaccinated. You’d think they would of been pushing the people who have been refusing to get the vaccine, to get it, but like tRump, they only care about themselves.
The Grio: Glad to see that they overruled the Coroner’s findings. Hope they can find the real cause and who caused it and punished them for his death.
KCS: Shutting out the Mayor? Sounds kind of fishy to me.
    Food for Thoughts: Wise words.
Hope your annual checkup/visit went well and that if you had to do any labs, that they come out well.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  7. I’m glad you’re not taking any risks with your health, Joanne. The adagio “better safe than sorry” works very well if you’re surrounded by idiots.

Cartoon: As this is where they came from, I would prefer “six feet under”.

C&L: Lindsey Graham infected with COVID at Joe Manchin’s boat party. Is there a better sentence to characterize the GQP? Oops, sorry…Manchin says he’s a Democrat. But then even his voters don’t believe that.

TG: Even in never-heard-of-white-towns juries no longer take the coroners word for it. Change is slow, but it is coming.

KCS: Good to see that more journalists are taking the news seriously again and doing some serious investigating into what literally happens behind closed doors with taxpayer’s dollars.

    FFT: Bingo.
