Yesterday kind of flirted with being too hot. Today and tomorrow are supposed to go past flirtation, darn it. I received an emaied receipt for my visitation app – only a receipt, no request for more infom so I assume it’s complete. Well, it should be. Besides my own I’ve helped friends fill this app out three or four times and all were approved – and besides that, I can read directions. So, we’ll see how long it takes.

Cartoon – I had planned to re-run an older one of TC’s about the heat, but I came across this anniversary and thought it needed to be featured.

Short Takes –

New Yorker (Borowitz) – G.O.P. to Punish Cheney and Kinzinger by Forcing Them to Spend Hour with Ted Cruz
Quote – McCarthy’s decision to subject the two Republicans to an hour of Cruz drew a strong rebuke from Representative Cheney’s father, the former Vice-President Dick Cheney. “Much as I have been a longtime supporter of torture, this goes too far,” he said.

Crooks and Liars – Fox News Hosts Promote Voting Ban On ‘Childless’ Liberals
Quote – Campos-Duffy said. “But I will say that I agree with the premise of it, that it is absolutely true that people like [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez], Pete Buttigieg — you can name the left-wing politicians, people who think that we should legalize marijuana because they don’t have kids and they don’t really have a stake in what that looks like.”

Law and Crime – Former Trump Inaugural Chair Jeered as ‘Traitor’ Before Pleading Not Guilty to Acting as Illegal Agent of UAE
Quote – Before entering federal court in Brooklyn, Barrack was pursued by a man holding a placard with the word “TRAITOR” in black block caps. Hecklers carried the same message for fellow Trump loyalists Paul Manafort and Roger Stone during their trials, CNBC noted. As noted in the Mueller Report, that is not all that trio has in common. Barrack and Stone are the men credited with recommending Manafort to Trump’s campaign team.

  1. Cartoon: I thought that this was a done deal. Unfortunately seems not. We cannot forget those who died, and those who fought for freedom, and…to honor their sacrifices.
NYer: Gotta love A.B. He’s a hoot, and keeps things short and funny.
C&L: Good grief. I really can’t stomach their lies and deceptions.
L&C: Rightly so. He should be jeered, loud and clear. TOT should be jeered as ‘traitor’ every single day, imho.
    FFT: Bravo! BRAVO!!
Hope that you have a good day, and Thank you! Joanne.
TJI: “Many of the Republicans in Congress who are the most voal about supposedly supporting the plice and Law and Order are the sme ones who have dismissed and downplayed the same shameful events of that day.”
    ~ Jen Psaki ~
    2. “CVS Health dumped $5M into an anti=Medicare for all dark money group. The same place where millions pick up subscriptions is using its profits to lobby against establishing health care as a human right.” ~ Anon ~

    • TJI #1 – Schizophrenia like that has never, ever been a problem for the GQP.  In fact I’d venture to say it’s a hallmark!

      • Here’s a couple more…got in a rush..a person selling ‘stuff’ at the door…’Nope!’
TJI  Joe Biden moment @a VA rally – “One eyewitness came forward to tell the Twitter verse what he had seen: “I was there and can vouch for it. It took me a minute to figure out why everyone went crazy when he took a drink”. Another social media user said, “How does he do it all! What’s next.. walking down a ramp without help ?” A third helpfully tweeted, “He also speaks in full sentences. Is there anything Biden can’t do?”  ~Hope Ngo~
        2. “Heartfelt thanks for representing the US in Tokyo. We love you too!” “Our First Lady showing up to support our athletes,” the writer commented. “My how good it feels that honor & grace have returned to our White House.” ~ U.S. Olympic Swim Team!!!

        • TJI #A1 – I doubt they can even pronounce “cognitive dissonance.” Elizabeth Mackintosh (Gordon Daviot, Josephine Tey) said through one of her characters that cognitive dissonance (which she didn’t name, but described well) was a major cause of criminal behavior. I’ve probably quoted her before, since events these days make it ever more obvious.
TJI #A2 – I wouldn’t doubt that all the drug chains do. Yet one has to get one’s prescriptions somewhere. (Not CVS for me because they’re not local here.)
Intermission – with the economy the way it is, I might consider buying at the door if the peddler were masked.
TJI #B1 – So funny. Of course he can do all these things. He’s human.
YJI #B2 – “Honor and grace.” Well said. (And class too.)

  2. Is the only good thing to come out of the Korean Conflict the movie & TV series M.A.S.H.?

G.O.P. to Punish Cheney and Kinzinger by Forcing Them to Spend Hour with Ted Cruz

Funny – but that would be a clear violation of our Eighth Amendment:

“Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

Fox News Hosts Promote Voting Ban On ‘Childless’ Liberals

Why don’t they just say only white, male property-owners can vote – and be done with it?

Former Trump Inaugural Chair Jeered as ‘Traitor’ Before Pleading Not Guilty to Acting as Illegal Agent of UAE

Well, when it comes to Donnie’s administration you’ll need a scorecard to keel all the TRAITORS straight.

    • You gotta admit that 68 years on an armistice only without open war is an impressive record.  Especially considering whos in charge, especially in the north.  I douby Americans could manage it (though in our case, it’s who’e in charge in the south we have to worry about.)

  3. I hope you get permission to see Virgil soon, Joanne. Fingers crossed that it won’t be too hot to travel by then.

Cartoon: So officially you’re still at war? No wonder Kim Young-un isn’t worried about any US government declaring war on him.

TNY: I’m sure that’s cruel and unusual punishment in anyone’s vocabulary.

C&R: As far as I know, no male Congressman (state or federal) has either a womb or a medical degree but that doesn’t stop them from voting on abortion rights or even concocting bills to deny women abortions. Faux News is starting to sound really desperate. It must be shedding viewers like an arctic fox sheds fur in spring.

L&C: Let’s hope that this protester gets a lot more mileage out of his “traitor” sign soon.

FFT: I saw some of the testimonies of the heroic police offers gave that defended the Capitol on 1/6, risking their own lives. If Kinzinger is only half the man of faith and principle he professes to be here, this committee will leave no stone unturned to find out all that happened and all who were involved that day.

    • Since all the non-Koreans who went into that were UN peacekeepers, I don’t think we.re still at war.  But apparently North and South Koea are officially still at war.

  4. Cartoon: Awful, still not resolved. Agree with Pat, we need to remember all who fought and sacrificed their lives.
NY: An hour of cRuz?  Yuck, that certainly would be torture.
L&C: Comes from tRump’s gang….Name fits him perfectly.
Food for Thought: Great words by Adam Kinzinger. I watch CNN where they show Adam speaking after these Capital Police testified. I hope these hearings end up prosecuting even more of the ones who tortured them. Plus being able to prosecute tRump who got the who thing started.
I’m glad that you got something back that acknowledges your summation of the application. Hopefully you’ll hear some positive news telling you can go and see him soon. You’ll be in my prayers that it happens soon.
    Take care. Thanks Joaane
