Yesterday was another boring day. Not even any internet outage – and my ISP (CenturyLink) is getting terrible press for outages, including days-long outages, all over the place, including as close as Denver. I hope it stays boring!

The New Yorker – The Political, Legal, and Moral Minefield That Donald Trump Left for Merrick Garland
Quote: The array of politically sensitive Trump-related cases currently before the Garland Justice Department is startling. The Attorney General is overseeing the prosecution of the more than four hundred Trump supporters who were arrested in connection with the January 6th Capitol riot; the department’s response to a Republican-led recount of 2020 election returns in Arizona; its response to Republican-led efforts to restrict voting, based on Trump’s false claims of election fraud; the reinstatement of consent decrees designed to prevent police abuses; the criminal investigation of Trump’s personal lawyer and confidant Rudy Giuliani, for illegal lobbying; and a criminal investigation of Hunter Biden, the current President’s son, which was launched under Barr. Hanging over all these cases are demands from Democrats that Garland investigate whether Trump committed federal crimes while in office.

I can’t possibly cut this feelgood story. Everything in it is necessary for the effect so-
* Here’s my feelgood story of the day LOL Back in 2012, I went to game 4 of the world series in Detroit. The Giants clinched that night and while I was rooting for the Tigers, what a great thing to actually be there in the park and see the final out of a world series.
* I recently found a pin they gave out at the game. A State Farm sponsored world series 2012 pin. I looked on ebay and they were only selling for a few bucks, but I figured, I have no use for it. So I listed it for 99 cents + $8.55 for priority mail shipping.
* Well it sold for only 99 cents. No big deal, someone will enjoy it! I figure it is some Tigers fan, though I didn’t think they would want to be reminded of that World Series lol
* Buyer sent me the money including the shipping. ebay sent me his address and it turns out he lives only about 4 miles from where I work, and more or less on my way home. So I say, hey, if you want, I’ll just drop it off on your porch and refund your shipping cost. He says, sure that’s fine, but you don’t need to give me a refund.
* I pulled up at his house and there is a guy pulling weeds in a flowerbed. I get his attention and hand it to him, and he smiles and says “Hey, I work for Ford too!” We chat for a second, I tell him I’m a Red Sox fan and hope he’ll enjoy the pin because it was just collecting dust in a drawer.
* He reiterates again not to refund the shipping cost, that I can keep it.
* THEN he tells me his son is severely autistic. He didn’t buy the pin for the Tigers. He bought it because his son autistic love is ANYTHING State Farm related, and to make him happy he lets his son buy some small State Farm item every day on ebay.
* So needless to say I’m absolutely thrilled now to know it is really going to bring some joy for his autistic son.
* I left and went home, and despite what he said, immediately refunded his shipping and told him to use that $8.55 for the next State Farm prize for his son.

  1. The New Yorker – The Political, Legal, and Moral Minefield That Donald Trump Left for Merrick Garland

I wouldn’t limit it to just Garland.  I think this cover reflects at least a modicum of damage the entire Biden administration is facing:

The Hill – Five takeaways from the Biden-Putin summit

    They buried the lede:

    BIDEN PRAISED AS ‘NOT TRUMP’

    Feel Good Story

Very heartwarming!  And especially timely w/ Father’s Day this Sunday.  That is one great Dad buying State Farm memorabilia for his autistic son!

    • I remember that when W moved in, rumors were flying around that the Clintons had left the White house in a literal filthy mess – not government, but the actual building. It was so obviously untrue – except to Republicans.  But in hindsight, it was another trickle in “the endless trickle of water  on stone” which over time dissolves them, which was used on Hillary as far back as when she was the First Lady of Arkansas.  It’s to her credit that she terrified them so., and so early, but it wasn’t good for the country that they reacted as they did.

  2. Cartoon: What a glorious day that was!
NYer: Seems the count of those involved with the January 6th riot keeps going up. TOT is crooked as ‘the day is long’. (and I mean miles!) of lies, and those who are spineless and hang on to him. ick.
The Hill: What a great article!! Positive note – PTL that Joe has class and is our President!
DU: What a wonderful and endearing story for all to read. I wish his son well. Compassion and love abounds.
    FFT: Pleeze. Go away. TY.
Yes, I like uneventful days. or Boring. Either or.

This just in: TJI – “I told President Putin my agenda is not against Russia or anyone else. It’s for the American people … I also told him that no President of the United States could keep faith with the Americanpeople if they did not speak out to defend our democratic values.” ~ President Biden ~
    2. Officer Fanone just ran into @Rep Clyde at the Capitol (he’s the “Jan 6 was a typical tour” guy). Fanone introduced himself as “someone who fought to defend the Capitol” and put out his hand. Clyde refused to shake it. To honor Trump, @housegop will dishonor the police. ~ Rep Eric Swalwell~
    3. “Kind of reminds me of when Justice Kavanaugh wouldn’t shake the hand of Fred Guttenberg, father of a Parkland victim.” ~ J*Adore Magritte ~
    4. “The United States of America is once again the global leader.” ~ Wayne Campbell ~
    5. “Biden flew to Europe and jumped into a demanding schedule of meetings with foreign leaders -G7, the Queen, NATO, EU, Summit with Putin….he even squeezed-in visit to 9/11 memorial, walks on the beach with Jill and Sunday mass. When I go to Europe, takes me two days to wake up.” ~ Ana Navarro-Cardenas ~

    • TJI #1 – No functioning democracy ever takes a stand against the people of any other nation. Those people are esentially just like us. But it’s often necessary tp take a stand against what the government of another nation is doing when it hurts their people, and more especially when it hurts our people. Something Beau says from time too time – because. I guess, it’s so difficult for people to grasp or even remember.
TJI #2 and 3 – Yes, well, I did say functioning democracy. Way too many Republiqans aren’t functioning
TJI #5 – He went to mass in St. Ives, Cornwall (I orget the name of the church) and the parishoners were gobsmacked (in a good way.)

    • TJI#1: What Joanne said.
      TJI#2: Such sick bastards!
      TJI#3: What I just said.
TJI#4: When one acts like a president should, not like a spoiled twit with a load in his pants.
TJI#5: Some old us old guys can still rock it.  TOT was afraid of a little rain, or did he just not want to honor those soldiers who were “loosers” for having been killed in a defense of Democracy.

    • TJI#1: True words by President Biden. I too agree with Joanne.
TJI#2: Despicable bas*ard. Showing no respect to the Capital Police.
TJI#3: Rotten tRump elected disrespectful bas*ard.
      TJI#4: Thanks you, President Biden.
TJI#5: Yes, he’s still full of energy. Bless him and Jill.

  3. ‘Toon: A damned good swimmer, she is!  Glad she’s on our side!
New Yorker: I’m one of those unhappy with some of Garland’s decisions, especially the one about Lafayette Square.  That one seems to be seriously stretching the definitions of presidential behavior, and Barr’s BS.
TH: Putin reportedly put to rest, or what he said should put to rest, the BS about Biden being a doddering old man.
Feel Good: Nice!  So, we have a bit of synchronicity going on there.  You score extra Karma points!  The Buddha is smiling! lol
FFT: Sadly, the sheeple cannot do independent “thoughting.”

  4. Cartoon: Great day to remember. I salute her.
TNY: Despicable what kind of mess tRump left for the new President and his associates to clean up. We knew that he was an as*hole. One who wasn’t qualified and never should of been allowed to set one foot in the White House.  It probably looked exactly like the issue cover photo that Nameless posted. I credit President Biden for taking on the Covid-19 like he did. I now pray that the ones in charge/assigned to oversee future prosecution of the January 6th Capital Riot continue finding more individuals, including more ways to charge and prosecute tRump. rUdy and bArr.
The Hill: I’m proud of President Biden. Feel he set pUtin in his place. Way to go, Joe.
Feel Good: What a wonderful heartwarming story. Showing such love for his autistic son. I too send his son good wishes.
Food for Thought: Can’t stand looking or listening to any of them at Faux news.
Happy to hear that you’re experiencing another boring/uneventful day.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  5. TNY: Yes, it’s a hell of a job. And that is exactly why Garland was picked; everyone had high expectations of his capabilities. Only time will tell, but for now, it seems a mistake to put the man whom Obama proposed for SCOTUS because he believed Garland was conservative enough to be acceptable to the GQP to replace Scalia. I’m sure Garland was just that but it didn’t matter, the GQP just wouldn’t let Obama put any justice in SCOTUS. Democrats expected conservative but nice Garland to be a miracle worker. So far he has shown little of that.

TH: Biden praised as ‘not Trump’, I take that as a positive reaction, coming from a man who had the former guy in his pocket. It seems to indicate a little bit of respect, something Putin never had for Trump.

    Feelgood: Sweet.

FFT: It works, doesn’t it? Why change a winning strategy?
