Beau: “Let’s talk about why Biden turned left….” I think Beau is missing (perhaps because of his youth) the fact that President Biden gre up in the 40’s and 50’s (whereas I gre up in the 50’s and sixties), but we both grew up into an emerging middle class which could not have existied but for social democratic programs. I think that’s the status quo he was running on returning to, even though it wasn’t specifically identified as such.

Beau: Sorry, Beau, but only a small majority of the country is heading “there” (left), the other half is devolving into fascism, as you correctly point out. As a Democrat, Biden has no other option than to move to Social Democracy; there no longer is a middle ground in the polarized country. Whether it concurs with his own beliefs is irrelevant. It is the only way forward and he can only hope that the movement which is heading “left” will become stronger in the coming years; strong enough to survive the next (half term) elections which are already being undermined by the Republicans in their favour.
