  1. ‘Toon and song:
“Dems Plan Police Reform After Chauvin Verdict,” said the line on Faux News, seen at the gym.  I did not try to see what the fools were actually saying, but they had Ben Carson, dragged out of the mothballs, on there, as well.  He said that racial reform is just another form of racism. “Something’s happening here, just what it is ain’t clear.”  Oh, yes it is, it’s Carson’s latest brain fart.
You know I love that song!!!!!!!!!!  DeSantis signed a visibly unconstitutional law, outlawing even peaceful protest. “Get out of line, and the man come and take you away.”

    • It’s really worse  than just outlawing protests – it’s open season on protesters.  When people are allowed to killwithout consequences, we think of the victims (and we should), but we should slao think of the effect on those who do the killing.  Society gets very sick when there are no consequences for doing wrong  … and particularly when there are not great consequences for doing grear wrong.

  2. Cartoon: Definitely vomit material right there. srsly!!
    Love Buffalo music…great song!
I had to laugh at your descriptive comment, Mitch…especially the Ben Carson comment in dragging him outta mothballs…that’s hilarious! p.s. decan’tis and crabbott are two peas in the pods of “fill in the blanks” comments. imho.

You get all the rest that you need. Get a nap in, rest, and relax. Hope that you have a good day, take good, good care, and Thanks for all you do, Tom.

This just in: “Maybe 4/20 can now be the day we celebrate America standing up and saying ‘NO’ to police brutality, affirming that you will go to jail when you murder innocent people no matter what uniform you wear.” ~ Chelsea Handler ~
    2. “”We are relieved but not celebrating because the killing continues.” ~ Reverend Jesse Jackson, who travelled to Minneapolis for the verdict ~
    3. “The Chauvin verdict won’t heal pain that existed for generations.” ~ Vice President Kamala Harris ~
    4. “‘I can’t breathe.’ “Those were the words of George Floyd’s last words. We cannot let them die with him. We have to keep hearing them. We must not turn away. We cannot turn away.” ~ President Biden ~
GET YOUR REST and take a nap, Tom!!! 20

    • TJI # 1-5 – All accurate, most painfully so. I included the Obamas’ full statement in my comment because I thought it was too good to cut.

    • All good!  Now we need some very public “Peace and Reconciliation” programs.

      • Sorry, Mitch, but America can’t start a peace and reconciliation process after just one guilty verdict. It’ll take a long time of Truth Telling, as our Aboriginal people call this process, before there can be any reconciliation effort coming from the side of black people. This verdict has all the potential of a turning point in history but everything depends on what happens next. Jesse Jackson said as much.

  3. I join in telling youto get rested as much as you can … and I am trying to practice what I preach. I stayed an extra hour in bed this morning, and I feel much better (of coursr I don’t know whether those two things are connected.)

Cartoon – Entirely too true for comfort.

Blast – This is a song I wish would get old – not because it’s not a great song (it is), but because I’m tired of living in that world.

For the record, here is the complete statement from the Obamas on the Chauvin verdict

“Today, a jury in Minneapolis did the right thing.
“For almost a year, George Floyd’s death under the knee of a police officer has reverberated around the world – inspiring murals and marches, sparking conversations in living rooms and new legislation. But a more basic question has always remained: would justice be done?
“In this case at least, we have our answer. But if we’re being honest with ourselves, we know that true justice is about much more than a single verdict in a single trial.
“True justice requires that we come to terms with the fact that Black Americans are treated differently, every day. It requires us to recognize that millions of our friends, family and fellow citizens live in fear that their next encounter with law enforcement could be their last. And it requires us to do the sometimes thankless, often difficult, but always necessary work of making the America we know more like the America we believe in.
“While today’s verdict may have been a necessary step on the road to progress, it was far from a sufficient one. We cannot rest. We will need to follow through with the concrete reforms that will reduce and ultimately eliminate racial bias in our criminal justice system. We will need to redouble efforts to expand economic opportunity for those communities that have been for too long marginalized.
“And as we continue to fight, we can draw strength from the millions of people – especially young people – who have marched and protested and spoken up over the last year, shining a light on inequality and calling for change. Justice is closer today not simply because of this verdict, but because of their work.
“Michelle and I send our prayers to the Floyd family, in the hopes that they may find peace. And we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all those who are committed to guaranteeing every American the full measure of justice that George and so many others have been denied.”

    • Beautiful words written from his heart to the Nation.

Thank you, Joanne for sharing President Obama’s eloquent words.

    • Brilliantly spoken words. I watched President Biden deliver his message yesterday. He’s one you definitely enjoy listening to, who speaks from the heart.
      Thanks Joanne

    • Oops, meant to type President Obama. but still meant what I said of President Biden’s words too. They were a great team.
      Thanks again, Joanne

    • Now, there is a man being, being human!
      “toon: Hilarious, but sad.

  4. Cartoon: Geez, can’t stand seeing that fool’s face. Wish he’d disappear. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit, if he moved there where his buddy is.
BFTP: Great song. Remember it well.
Sorry to hear that you’re not feeling that well. Please do rest as much as you can. It’s the best thing you can do for your body.
    Prayers being sent your way.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Get all the rest you need, TomCat. Your body will need increasingly more time to re-energize and being the social creature you are you may want to spend some of that energy interacting with the people around you too.

Cartoon: He did and his followers are continuing his quest.

BFTP: Thanks for one of my favourite songs ever, TomCat.

  6. Thanks and Hugs to all.  I’m doing a little better, day by day.

    BIG hugs!
