It’s an insane day  here in the CatBox.  I’m gradually learning to the computer in my new digs, which is jar more difficult than it appears.  Please give me time.  I think I can link to a puzzle but haven’t learned to subscribe in email yet.  Issues with the room ale leaving me lots of pain, but the staff are great.  I’m thoroughly pleased.  As time goes on, I shall learn.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:02 (average 4:38).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. Hi Tom!!
Take all the time you need. Take in tiny steps with each day, and don’t rush anything. Glad that the staff is meeting your needs and supportive to you, and that they are doing a good job and with compassion…I pray that with your meds, your pain will be lessened. Get your rest, and take good, good care. Enjoy your day, Tom.

Cartoon: Remember this like it was yesterday. What a crying shame, and the loss of lives.
‘Seung-Hui Cho, an undergraduate student at the university and a U.S. resident of South Korean descent, killed thirty-two people and wounded seventeen others with two semi-automatic pistols.’ *wiki
BFTP: Sad and poignant song. I get choked up listening to this one. One for the ages…

*This Just In: “The spat came yesterday, as Jordan argued with Dr. Anthony Fauci about health guidelines. Jordan said were restricting his “liberties”. “You need to respect the chair and shut your mouth,” Waters, 82, told Jordan, 57, after he kept talking over House Coronavirus Crisis Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Jim Clyburn. ~ People Magazine, Sean Neumann ~

    2. “I welcome the decision of President Biden to end the war in Afghanistan. This is long overdue. We’ve spent trillions and lost 2,000 service members. America’s longest war must end.” ~ Jeff Merkley ~
    3. “It’s as irrelevant that Daunte Wright might have resisted arrest as that George Floyd might have possessed drugs. Black people have the same constitutional rights as White people not to be killed by police.”
    ~ Robert Reich ~
    4. “The death penalty has been one of many examples where racial discrimination has played out. You can see it in the simple fact that someone convicted of the same crime is more likely to face the death penalty if they are black.” ~ Pete Buttigieg ~
    5. “I’m opposed to any policy that would deny in our Country any human being from access to public safety, public education, or public health, period.” ~ Vice President Kamala Harris ~

    • TJI #1 – Crooks and Liars also had that video yesterdat – but I settled on the oned I used.
TJI #2 – He’s not giving himself a lot of time, but he is taking a little, I suspect hoping to build a little trust on the part of Iran.
TJI #3 – Now if only we could convince the police of that!!!!!
TJI #4 – Pete and you and I can see it. Nazis just think the blacks convicted were worse human beings (if indeed they are himan beings at all – which Nizis don’t believe in the forst place.)
      TJI #5 –

    • TJI#1: “Shut your mouth!” was also featured elsewhere.  It is about time that someone called this waste of protoplasm out.
TJI#2: I just hope there will be no further excuses to extend the deadly deadline.
      TJI#3: Yup!
      TJI#4: Yup!
TJI#5: Yup! Check out the concept of “Doughnut Economics.”

    • TJI #1: I applaud Ms. Waters for putting jOrdan in his place.
TJI #2: I just pray that it goes smoothly. What gets me is the way the rotten R’s are all against this move, but when they were all going along with it when tRump brought it up?
TJI #3: They certainly do. What part of that doesn’t these cops understand??
TJI #4: Don’t understand…we’re all suppose to be treated equally? Way I was taught and brought up.
      TJI #5: Agree with V.P. Harris 100%.

  2. Please take all the time you need, TC, and maybe a little more (it’s now always easy to tell how much is enough)! Right now you are the most important being in the universe.

I owe everyone an update on my situation This week (roughly starting Monday) I’ve been able to dispense with the crutch except for getting form the bedroom to the bathroom – I’ve been able to move farther from there without it. Still using the TENS because there’s still been some pain (and I will anyway after I think I don’t need to as a precaution, at least or a while.) Once the TENS fiinishes up, I’m good to go for the rest of the day. Wednesday I even took out rge recyclables and trash (includins a broken chair outsie the bins) for Thursday pickup. WebMD says sciatica comes for two weeks (which I take to mean roughly two weeks at a time) so, if it is sciatica, I may be over this bout. I certainly hope so.

I had kind of slacked off on petitions, but this one hit home to me … regarding, as it does, whether democracy can even survive.

Wow. Just WOW. (Hanky ALert) The Meaningful Story Behind Kamala Harris’s New Vice Presidential Desk

Cartoon – He probably thought he would be taken alive.

Blast – Would Eric Burdon prefer (or have preferred) chaplains didn’t exist? I doubt tht would be an improvement.

    • Joanne, sorry to hear that you’re still suffering with your sciatica. I didn’t realize that you needed to use a crutch. Have you considered getting it checked out? Just to be on the safe side? It has been going on for some time now.
Glad to hear that the TENS unit is helping you. I know the TENS unit is a big help for me with my arm issues.
Prayers being sent your way, Joanne Hope you get to feeling better soon.

      • I’ve had crutches around the house since I injured (but did not break) my knee in 2007.  Mostly I don’t need them, but I am not a bit reluctant to use one if I do, even if the need is not all that great.  I’m not big on toughing things out when relief is handy.  I only needed it in the mornings while I did need it, and now I don’t seem to need it.  But I am still keeping it handy.  In case.  Thanks for your concern.

    • I’m keeping my fingers crossed that your bout of sciatica is nearing its end, Joanne.

  3. Good to “see” you, Mr. TC!  It seems that you might have a steep learning curve to work through, but I/we have faith in you.
‘Toon: What a country!  Tangentially, it seems that Q has been unmasked, and that his vileness MAY no longer lead Qnuts to violence.
    BFP: Love it.

  4. Nice to see you posting this morning TC. Like others have mentioned, please do take your time, no need to rush back into things. Your health comes first. Glad to hear that you’re pleased with your new place and the staff. Plus it’s nice knowing that your taken care of 24/7.
Cartoon: Very sad day to remember. What’s even sadder is here we are 14 years later and still no type of gun control for our country. We’ve already had 147 mass shootings this year.
BFTP: Great one by the Animals.
Continue resting. Prayers sent that you get to feeling better soon. Hope the issues with the room setup gets easier on you.
    Take care TC

  5. I gather you are on a new computer you have to get used to, TomCat. The old one was too old or idiosyncratic for the techie to get going again? Don’t feel you need to rush, enjoy your time learning some new tricks. I hope your pain management is up to par with the rest soon.

4:05 but the average was up to 5:23 by now.

Cartoon: Some 19-year-old just committed suicide by cop after shooting dead eight people at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. On seeing the cartoon, my first reaction was that the teenager had taken the anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre as his cue.

BFTP: The song sadly is still pertinent.

  6. Thanks and Weekend Hugs to all!
