It’s an R and R day here in the CatBox.  Yesterday my Republicosis was so bad that I spent the day in bed, sleeping as much as possible.  Today is another day of rest in preparation for moving week.  WWWendy is coming tomorrow to de-stink the rancid TomCat and do moving prep.  I won’t know what time she’s coming until later today.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Today’s took me 5:31 (average 4:46).  To di it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. Glad to read that your Republicosis is waning. Early HI’s to WWWendy! I hope that you get a chance to rest and nap. Take good, good care, and relax and rest. Hope that you have a wonderful day too! Thanks Tom!
    For those who celebrate…Happy Easter!

BFTP: Can’t get any better than this one! Love it!

*This just in: “Jen Psaki is a remarkable young lady and whoever found her to be the WH press secretary, deserves kudos big time. She is so bright, sassy and informative on so many topics. She makes some in the press corp look as if they were trained at the Chuck Todd school of pathetic journalism.” ~ Sharman G. ~
    2. “If anything demonstrates just how much the GQP has changed from it’s one held belief in good governance to it’s radical anti-government stance, it’s the issue of control.” ~ Neil J. Young – Historian/Author ~
    3. “My father used to have an expression. He’d say, ‘Joey, a job is about a lot more than a paycheck. It’s about your dignity. It’s about respect. It’s about your place in your community.'” ~ President Joe Biden ~
    4. “Americans are blessed with great plenty; we are a generous people and we have a moral obligation to assist those who are suffering from poverty, disease, war and famine.” ~ Adam Schiff ~
    5. “The ADA allows persons with disabilities the opportunity to participate in the world around them.” ~ Senator Tammy Duckworth ~

    • TJI #2 – Control – power – is what it is all about for the GOP. The last time they were interested in good government was under Eisenhower, and that may have been a fluke.
TJI #3 – We could argue about whether one’s place in the community should be as rigidly ties to one’s job as it is – but there’s no arguing about whether or not it is. People with functioning hearts know this and act on it.
TJI #4 – the only superfluous word in this is “generous.” Whether or not we are generous, we still have the obligation.
TJI #5 – Ain’t that the truth. Not that we are yet in full compliance.

    • TJI#1: Psaki is human!
      TJI#2: What Joanne said!
      TJI#3: HIS father, was human!
TJI#4: “Moral obligation?” I’ll bet there are millions of Republicans who would wish they could debate this with Schiff.  They seem to be of the belief that the only moral obligation they have is to take MORE!
TJI#5: I’m glad Duckworth did not get the nomination, but she seems to have a lot of good things to say.

  2. Moving is a huge hassle, I know. Best to you and WWWendy in accomplishing it as smoothly as possible. Prayers your way of course.

Cartoon – Yes, we still need to resist Republicans, Trumpists, QAnon, and the filibuster.

Blast – I was taught that the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Aeneid, and Paradise Lost – along with edda, saga, the tale of Gilgamesh, and the like) were all intended to be compendia of all knowledge in the culture at the time. The Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid (and some of the others) – meh. And, in our lives, “The Waste Land” be T. S. Eliot was a sort of shot at it, and was both unsuccessful and unreadable (“Only a pedant could read The Waste Land” was quoted. But I think Don McLean was also doing something of the sort with this song, and, at least for those of us who were alive at the time, was reasonably successful, at least for stricylt mid-century-modern American culture.

  3. Cartoon: We must continue to Resist. It’s a definite MUST.
BFTP: Wonderful song by Don McLean.
Sorry to hear that your Republicosis was acting up so bad yesterday. I do hope that with you staying in bed, that it eased up.
Please continue to rest and relax today, Tom so you’ll be ready to face the busy week.
Tell Wendy “Hello” and “Happy Easter” tomorrow when she comes over. Plus thank her for all that she’s been doing, we truly appreciate it.
    Prayers being sent your way.
    Take care

  4. Get that rest!
    BFP: Great piece!

  5. May your move go smooth and your Republicosis not interfere TC.  I once had American Pie memorized, but not any more–still enjoy it though.

  6. Good to hear you’re getting your much needed rest.

(Now don’t get too worn out tomorrow from hunting for the Easter eggs Wendy will be hiding.)

  7. Rest and Relax, good luck with move prep and  move

  8. I hope your Republicosis is under control now, TomCat. WWWendy has done an extraordinarily good job of finding you a place of care (please tell her that) and I’m sure she will take care of your move in the same excellent way. Leave it to her and save your strength for what undoubtedly is going to be a very strenuous day for you.

Cartoon: America will need to; the game is far from over.

BFTP: Don McClean’s American Pie took the lid off an enormous box of memories for me.

  9. Thanks and Easter Hugs to all! 17
