Leonard Cohen “Lullaby” with cats

Sleep baby sleep/The day’s on the run/The wind in the trees/Is talking in tongues
If your heart is torn/I don’t wonder why/If the night is long/Here’s my lullaby/Here’s my lullaby
Well the mouse ate the crumb/Then the cat ate the crust/Now they’ve fallen in love/They’re talking in tongues
If your heart is torn/I don’t wonder why/If the night is long/Here’s my lullaby/Here’s my lullaby
Sleep baby sleep/There’s a morning to come/The wind in the trees/They’re talking in tongues
If your heart is torn//I don’t wonder why/If the night is long/Here’s my lullaby/Here’s my lullaby

Why are such common sense solutions (even bipartisan!) so HARD to come by?

The GOP lawmakers objected to the use of the term “insurrectionists” in the resolution.

    (2) On January 6, 2021, a mob of insurrectionists forced its way into the U.S. Capitol building and congressional office buildings and engaged in acts of vandalism, looting, and violently attacked Capitol Police officers.

The same 12 also joined with the other ONE-HUNDRED-FORTY-SEVEN seditionists who voted on 1/6/21 to overturn the results of our fair and legal election of Pres. Biden.
So while these Rethuglican seditionists might object to calling the Trumpkin Capitol Storm Troopers “Insurrectionists” – I object to them calling themselves “AMERICANS”!
Retweet if you support Rep. Jimmy Gomez’s resolution to expel seditionist Marjorie Taylor Greene
She’s an avowed foe of democracy, and therefore an embarrassment to the United States and our Congress.
    Leonard Cohen’s “Lullaby”
    At the end it said:
“Thank you, Leonard Cohen, for these beautiful words to fall asleep to …”
There were NO words on CC.  Were there words to the song on audio?
Let’s talk about the Asian experience in the US …
You know what I have a real problem with? All the well-meaning citizens of whatever state or city these mass murders occur in saying:
    “This isn’t Georgia …”
    “This isn’t Florida …”
    “This isn’t Texas …”
    “This isn’t Nevada …”
    “This isn’t Arizona …”
Sorry to disappoint you – but this IS Georgia, Florida, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, AMERICA!
While I agree this should NOT be our America – sadly, at this time, it is!

    • WRT the lullaby, yes, there were words on the audio – which is why I posted them at the bottom of the video.  I love Leonard Cohen, but frankly, he’s not the easiest singer to understand, and I thought we all might benefit from having them posted.  It’s the part that starts with ” Sleep baby sleep/” and ends with “/Here’s my lullaby.”

  2. VV: It’s hard to break with tradition, isn’t it?

PRU: Get this Rule-of-Law back on the road and working again.

MT: The message is extremely important but sadly that is all it’s ever going to be: a message. With every Republican in Congress behind her, Greene is not going to be stripped of her committees nor is she going to be expelled from Congress.

KL: If that video/music didn’t get my blood pressure down, nothing will.

Beau: Why do Americans always think their racism restricts itself to black people?
