It’s an exhausted day here in the CatBox.  In a telephone conference, Evelyn, my former Oncologist, explained that as a doctor she must recommend curative solutions.  She agreed that the only thing she has to offer (chemo) will probably kill me.  Therefore she referred me to Providence Home Hospice yesterday afternoon.  WWWendy will be contacting them today to set up an appointment for an evaluation to set up a service plan.  What I do know is that all my medical care, will be provided by hospice and, except for emergency care, take place at home.  I’ll learn more as time goes on.  WWWendy is doing my grocery shopping today and will bring us subs for lunch.  My stress level has been through the roof, and I have had very little sleep.  I’ll keep you posted.  God bless and have a fine day.

  1. TC, hope your day goes alright and things get set up OK with hospice care. Hi, Wendy and thanks for all you do keeping the TC purring as well. Please keep us updated. Ain’t no Mitch/GQP gonna steal from this pussy cat w/out a big ‘ol claws out fight,LOL!  Take care.

  2. I can certainly imagine that your stress level is “through the roof”.

Be sure to share that issue with your Hospice provided during your intake interview.  They’ll provide meds to help deal with that, as comfort and support are their main goals.

Just to be dotting all i’s and crossing all t’s, make sure that Wendy will be present.  You might very well have to sign some additional papers to include her in the process – but not a big deal.

I reviewed your Providence Hospice Program and it looks very similar to what my Mom had – very comprehensive.

You might recall my sharing that when I lost my sister-in-law, Mom and brother (all in less than 9 months) I started having anxiety attacks.  My PCP at that time put me on Sertraline (Zoloft) which I think has been a life-saver for me!

She also prescribed Alprazolam (Xanax) for severe episodes – but fortunately I’ve not had to take it.

I was skeptical, but she also recommended I start using deep-breathing exercise to help with anxiety.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easy, fast and effective they have been when I start getting a little anxious!  I would highly recommend it, if not doing so already!

  3. HI, Wendy! Hope you and family are doing good.
Sounds like they are handling and getting ‘right on it’ for your needs and assistance in a timely manner. I do hope that you will have a good day in knowing that you will be taken care of, now and later. Hope that you get your rest, and a nap today. Anxiety is a well oiled machine in your mind…and hopefully will abate for you.
Take good care, Tom, and get your rest.

    • TJI#’s 1&2: White Supremacists and Republicans are in the same pot of swill!  I recommend reading “How To Be An Antiracist,” by Ibram X. Kendi.
TJI#4: Spoken like a real human.  What a wonderful difference!
TJI#5: Ms. Rothschild Laser twit ought not even lecture on how to unscrew a jar lid!

    • TJI #2 = I knew they reminded me of honey badgers!
TJI #3 – He also mentiond he’s interviewed with Cy Vance 5 times.
TJI #5 – BTC kind of grates on me – but he is spot on.

    • TJI #3 – You just know that Michael Cohen is LOVING payback time.

  4. I don’t have any advice – well, except pay heed to Nameless (and I see you are doing that.). There really is no side of health care that he has not been on in one way or another. And try not to forget how loved you are. At least I know you won’t have the experience with hospice that Virgil’s mother did the hospice staff essentially “relieved” him so he could go see his girl friend, whom he married just a couple of months after Virgil’s mother died. I have no idea whether she knew It had been a standing joke between them for years that if she died he would remarry immediately.

Cartoon – I hope he took good care of him.

Second cartoon – Not a trained turtle?

Blast – A lovely song. Don’t I remember Johnny and June Cash covering it?

  5. Hi Wendy, and thanks for all you are doing for our CatMan!  Hopefully, hospice will be able to ease your anxiety. Deep breathing, as per Nameless, especially if you do it from the belly, as it were, not up in the chest as so many of us were taught as children, can be very helpful.  Simple meditation, with just “rising,” and “falling” as a mantra, following your breathing rhythm, can be additionally helpful.
‘Toon: The salient piece of this is that BBMM trained himself to be a monkey.  But, that is unfair to monkeys.
BFP: If I were a carpenter, I’d build a cage for BBMM!

  6. Cartoon: mItch the bi*ch, look forward when he’s long gone
    BFTP: Great song.
I too feel that Nameless has the best advice for you regarding dealing with Providence Home Hospice care services. I hope that things go well with your upcoming evaluation appointment that Wendy is scheduling for you. That it goes smoothly for you.
Tell Wendy “hello” today and tell her “I thank her for being there for you.” Hope you both enjoy your subs at lunchtime.
Take care and please get your rest, TC.
I will continue to keep you in my daily thoughts and prayers.

  7. Thanks and pooped-out hugs to all! 19

  8. For one reason or another my comments keep disappearing. This was what I wrote yesterday.

Of course, you are anxious, TomCat. How could you not be? I hope you take heed of Nameless’ advise and ask for meds to deal with your anxiety and manage to stay on top of it with his breathing exercise. I’m glad you decided to go into home-based hospice care, my friend, and I’m sure WWWendy will be there during the consultation with these new caregivers. And allow yourself to be ‘greedy ‘and take everything on board they offer you that is paid for in the package. You’ve earned it.

    4:26 Too prickly for me.

Cartoon: Those were the times; exploiting humans in slavery and monkeys in circus acts.

Cartoon 2: Trained monkey? I think Mitch is doing only what is good for Mitch McConnell and nobody else.

BFTP: Lovely song though I never heard this cover version by Bobby Darin before.

  9. Thanks for the update that even handled your concern about transportation for medical care TC!  Providence does have a good reputation.

  10. Hoping for the best…..studies have shown that hospice often bring more quality and quantity to patients (and families, which would be your loving admirers and readers, too) rather than aggressive treatment especially if/when it is not working

  11. I promise, I have always voted AGAINST Mitch!
