There are so many awful Senators getting so much attention, it’s too easy to overlook the real heroes there ( especially if they aren’t our own)

Aaron Rupar tweet – This is from a long thread. I finally figured out how to embed just part of it, but it’s still more than I wanted. I was trying for just the second one. (They do have CC, though.) Statehood for USVI! Stacey Plaskett for Senator!

Such a nice tweet – three things – Dr. Jill’s Valentine display – two wonderful woozles – and Joe’s thoughtfulness (even as he berates himself for being slow.) No CC – but the discussion is about their getting Major at least in part to keep Champ exercising. Then a reporter (I think) says “If you come back next Friday I’ll bring the donuts,” and then President Biden goes over to her to share the warm coffee on this cold day.

The Alt-Right Playbook – The Card Says Moops

A parody headphone commercial fron The Daily Show. Nice.

A John Fugelsang allgory

Beau – This is kind of under the radar, but I think worth considering.

  1. MSNBC: Trump’s defence team only took three hours to put the 2nd impeachment trial down to a political witch-hunt and that will be enough to let the Republicans vote against conviction. I’m afraid the same will happen with any actions against Republican Senators or Representatives. Some time will be spent on it, Democrats will know they the truth on their side and Republicans will stamp it down again and nothing happens.

AR: I’ve seen Stacey Plaskett in several clips over the past few days and I was very impressed by her. She did an excellent job. Sadly, she won’t be able to break through those walls most Republicans have built around their minds to prevent reality and the truth to come in.

BS: Biden doesn’t need to promote himself all the time to get the admiration he feeds on; he can just talk about his dogs and be a Mensch.

Alt-Right Playbook: Best lesson so far: we are who we pretend to be.

TDS: Excellent satyrical commercial, one to keep.

JF: Very original and well done: Loved the “it’s a rigged year [leap year]”  and “gregorian pope interference” arguments.

Beau: It’s just a thought. I sure hope the reason Cass Sunstein is put up for DHO is not that Sunstein believes that federal law should be interpreted by the President and not by judges. I know, I know, the present immigration laws are bloody awful and need reforming, but ignoring or circumvent judges, even Republican judges) is not a good place to start reforming from. Don’t fall back on Trumpian methods and Trumpian aids, Joe.

    • The first time I heard Fugelsang he was talking about himself and his journey to activism and he mentioned that his mother had been a nun and left the convent before she married.  Later, he described his own attitude toward Jesus as being similar to how anyone would feel about their mother’s first husband assuming they were on good terms.  It blew me away.  I knew anyone who could formulate that was a person who was worth listening to.

And I certainly see where you are coming from on Beau. However, if you don’t know, et me assure you that ICE took his executive order for a moratorium on deportations and got a Trump-appointed judge to put a stay on his order. this is what we are up against. I would not like for such an appointment to be permanent, because I would hate for it to need to be permanent. But in the short run I could support it.

  2. Stacey Plaskett is awesome, how come we’re not talking about making our territories have full representation, too???

    Fugelsang, very funny…..

    • We aren’t talking about it here, but on other websites, I see it brought up enough that I know many people are thinking about it.  One person who appears to have ut a lot of thought into it in favor of something that will give DC residents representation but opposed to statehood on the grounds that it was done the way it was on the grounds that the founders thugh it was not a good idea to have the capital city be in any state so that that state wouldn’t become “special.”  But I think the Capital being in a state and the Capital being a state itself are not the same thing.  Still, I see the hesitation
