It’s a better day here in the CatBox.  I need to get as much rest as possible, because Friday is my infusion day at the hospital, so I’m not sure what I’ll do tomorrow.  I will definitely have just a short Personal Update on Friday.  Happy Hump Day!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:36 (average 5:20).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Donald J. Trump’s defense lawyers stunned the United States Senate on Tuesday by acknowledging that their client had incited the Capitol riot, but only because his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, made him do it.

The Senate listened in astonished silence as Trump’s lawyers coldly and methodically hurled Kushner under the bus.

Bruce Castor, one of Trump’s lead attorneys, claimed that the ex-President had been reluctant to speak to the angry mob of supporters on January 6th, and did so only after Kushner assured him, “What could possibly go wrong?”

Dang, Andy! Maybe Jared really did make him do it. That’s credible if you believe that Bears never, ever shit in the woods.  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

From YouTube (NBC News Channel): Watch: Day 1 of Donald Trump’s Impeachment Trial In Senate

This video is 7.5 hours long, and I put it here so you can move around within it and see parts you want.  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

From YouTube (Daily Kos Channel): Democrats present damning video to begin Trump’s impeachment trial for Jan. 6, 2021

I understand that most Senate Republicans evaded watching the video. The American people need to see this again, and again, and again, and again!  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Wild Horses – Rolling Stones

Ah… the memories!  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

  1. Cartoon: So true, and so sad.
NYer: The loser has all the negative soundbites, but wimps out quickly, truth be told…by not doing what he told the crowd(s) to do/say/act on. Jared is no better, imho.
NBC: Thank you! for getting this out here. W/watch snippets of it when I can. Appreciate it.
DKC: The video is Very Well Done. Yes, I’ve watched it over and over. Unbelievable! A crying shame.
    BFTP: Good one.

Oh good, that’s great news, and it’s a better day for you. Enjoy your day!  Get your rest, and nap, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*Navalny’s wife, Yulia, has arrived in Germany from Russia. *pb*”
    4. “The neo-nazi party formely known as the GOP, is infected w/cancer. It’s eating away at dignity, ethics, and foremost – facts. It feeds on guillable people, strengthened by misinformation. A cure is not available, yet prosecution to the full extent of the Law has to offer and have some positive effect.  ~ Renea M. ~

    ~ David M. ~
    6. “All but 6 Republicans think it’s unconstitutional to convict a president who incited an attempted overthrow of the US Government. Senators Collins, Cassidy, Murkowski, Romney, Sasse, Toomey all voted w/Dems on the constitutionality question.” ~ M. Raju ~

    • TJI #3 – That is, of course, something that happens, even to health practitioners (this may be a stretch, but consider James Fixx) – but no one is ever going to believ it was natural.
TJI #4 – Naziism – fascis – does that, because an ideology centered on destroying everyone and everything it blames for its problems, it always ends up destroying the believer from the inside
TJI #6 – Interesting that when it was merely a question of losing a Senate seat, Collins (and this could apply to some of the others as well) stuck with Trump**. Now that this vote could easily get her targeted for assassination, she leaves, They really do love power more than life.

    • TJI #1 – It’s damn hard to type with my hand in the air!

TJI #4 – I call it the RNP (Republican Nazi Party),

      Thanks, Pat! 04

  2. Sadly, I am ging to have to spend a bunch of time (most of it on hold) tracking down a prescription which is late. Grump.

Fire Mountain Gems and Beads is having a sale on supplies, and one of the items on sale is a metal fly, comes in silver tone or gold tone, about an inch. Wouldn’t that be fun on a barrette or hair clip, to commemorate a historic debate moment?

Cartoon – Explain to me how this targeting of minorites is morally different from the targeting that put them in the Coliseum to be eaten by Lions for the amusement of Romans.

Andy – I’m sure if they thought they could get away with it, Trump** and his lawyers would jump on this defense.

Video – Looks like NBC put it together, fro the peacock. So it should be real.

Video #2 – Great minds, I see. I hadn’t heard that most Rethud Senators avoided it. The new nickname for the Senate Chamber is “The Chicken Coop.” (Or should that be “Coup”?) Update: Apparently it wasn’t a large number of Senators, just a small group of notorious ones:
Almost every senatorial eye in the chamber was glued to the screens as lead House manager Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) played a 13-minute video depicting the events of Jan. 6 to introduce the impeachment case against Trump — with a few notable exceptions.

While the screen showed demonstrators marching on the Capitol, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) looked down at the pad of lined paper in his lap, where he had already begun doodling with a pencil. Behind him, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) studied papers in his lap, taking only the tiniest glimpses at the screen to his right. A few seats over, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) also focused most of his attention on papers in front of him instead of on the images depicting the insurrection at the Capitol, and a few seats from him, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) did the same.

Blast – Ah, I see – it’s confusing because the lead singer took liberties with the meaning.

    • I hope you have your meds squared away! 28

      • I think I do.  I should get the first one Saturday, though if it’s Monday, I mat have to miss a dose.  I don’t mind missing one, but I don’t like missing more than one  And the other one – they claimed the Doctor hadn’t responded – well, since he gives 90 days with multiple refills, and I’ve only been doing mail since the beginning of the pandemic, it occurred to me he might not have the right fax number for the people who needed to know, so I got the mail-order fax number while on the phone.  That appears to have worked – the doctor’s office said they’d call me it there was a problem, and they didn’t.

  3. ‘Toon: That’s who they are.
New Yorker: Aha!  So Jared is the Puppet Master!
I saw some of Raskin’s presentation, yesterday, and liked what I saw.  I will not be watching the senate proceedings as it is not good for my health to watch fools digging in deeper.  The outcome of any day’s deliberations will be evident in news bite, onDK, on Alternet, here, and on PBS.
    Y/T-DKC: See!
    PFP: Love those wild horses.

  4. Cartoon: Rotten gun loving R’s.
TNY: There we go again with tRump accusing someone else for his actions. Pretty bad when he takes directions from all of these misfits.
YouTube/NBC:  Day 1 of Donald Trump’s Impeachment: I did watch it yesterday. Felt the Democrats did an excellent presentation. Did watch today’s videos too. If they start with the Rotten kiss you as* R’s tomorrow, I won’t be turning it on. They’ll be just speaking tRump crap that’s full of lies.
YouTube/DK: Good presentation. I heard that some of the rotten R’s like tEd cRuz and others were just passing notes and drawing while the videos were presented. They’ll pay for their evil sins if they still back the creep.
BFTP: Great song by the Stones.
Glad to hear that you’re doing better today. Hope you continue getting better.
    Yes rest up for Friday.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Rest is the best medicine for you, TomCat, so take as much as you need, please.

3:03 Beautiful, aren’t they? We don’t see much of them here in a drought.

    Cartoon: Spot-on.

TNY: I don’t think Kushner will be the first to end up under the bus but Andy’s right on the money predicting Trump’s lawyers are going to throw Trump’s associates under it one by one. I’ll think they start with Giuliani first.

NBC: Thanks for putting it up, TomCat, but it’s a bit too long for me and the outcome is a given anyway, so I’ll make do with the live blog on the ABC.

DK: Some Republicans were quite upset seeing the young Capitol police officer being crushed but then said it didn’t change their vote. So it was 🐊🐊 tears then, they haven’t got an ounce of empathy in their bodies.

BFTP: Never much of a Stones fan except for their ballads like this one or ‘Angie’. Thanks.

  6. Thanks and  pooped hugs to all! 19

  7. Angry white men, and a few women, are the biggest danger to the future we’re trying to create and save…..
