It’s a very tired day here in the CatBox. Unpacking and putting away groceries took over 90 minutes yesterday. Also, I slept poorly last night, as I wondered how our nation can survive another week and a half. I expect to be in the saddle tomorrow. Tomorrow and Sunday are High Holy Days in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, but my Portland gave a bye in the Wild Card Week of the playoffs! TGIF!

TJI#1: The problem here, is that he will be seen as a martyr if this is done. My gut reaction is that he should be sent to Gitmo the day after being impeached. The government is not oppressing us by laws passed by our elected legislators. We have one mad man who happens to hold the highest office in our government. There is a difference. We are not on the “Eve of Destruction.”
I think we will be surprised how quickly normalcy will return with Biden as president and Democratic majority, even with all our deep problems. It will be a national sigh of relief, or as TC calls it, a big flush. Normalcy in our government is nothing pretty, or satisfying.
Jerry, I understand and agree with your concerns about “normalcy”. My question “Again?” relates to what he may do in the next ten days. We have a madman that attacked the Capitol with access to the nuclear codes. You may say that’s crazy, but had you asked me a few days ago, I would have said that the notion he would have his minions storm the Capitol and riot there was crazy.
The Trump cultists in the administration will not remove Trump. McConnell has said that if the House impeaches Trump, he will start the trial one hour after Biden is sworn in. Proving that Republicans will support this criminal president to the last minute. I’m not a religious person, but it seems prayers are all that we have left.
As a person with multiple illnesses, I feel your daily efforts to simply exist. I hope 2021 is a good year for you.

You don’t heal a country by forgetting. You heal a country by facing the problem and talking about it every single day.
If you pretend that this crisis, this hatred, ended with Trump leaving office, if you decide to forget, then this hatred will fester and be reborn in a few decades.
Maybe it will return as right-wing violence. Maybe it will return as left-wing violence.
Please mark my words: If US-society decides to forgive and forget, if it decides to move on and to go back to business as usual, if it doesn’t deal thoroughly with this hatred, with this divide and its perpetrators, then there will be dark consequences down the road.

There will always be Nazis. All the makings of a Nazi are programmed into every human (along with all the makings of a hero), and some people will use the wrong ones. Someone in one of the videos I was considering pointed there were som key words missing from his speech, and the effect of those words being missing was to extend his permission to his base to keep being violent. MSNBC: Who wrote these words for him to speak? Hate to tell him, what you did 2 days ago, isn’t going to just disappear because you don’t speak about it anymore. The FBI, the House and various other members are planning on ways to prosecute tRump for all that he has caused by calling his great followers to do what they did at the Capital. They’ve been mentioning that while the chaos was going on, he was still trying to call/contact members to ask them to over turn the election.

You must feel of two minds about this, TomCat. On the one hand, I don’t think you would want to have missed out on both the joy of Biden winning, and then two Democrats elected to the Senate to balance its power, or on the worry for your country after the Capitol siege both from the inside and out. But the anger and the worry is something you could do without as they take a toll on your health, my friend. Please take care of yourself and find a balance. Anger and worry don’t change anything and may be bad for your health, but I also know that they keep you going.

Impeach this man today before he organises another rally during the inauguration. It may be harder to organise now that his Twitter account has been closed indefinitely, but his sons can still get the word out.
